Chapter 581: Straightforward Fairy
Two hours later, Gawain left Reiger’s room.
Indeed, though their statements to each other amounted to a declaration of war, and they had previously beaten each other to a bloody, wounded mess, sitting down together like this, both Reiger and Gawain unexpectedly had a rather enjoyable conversation.
In the end, a dialogue like this even transpired between Gawain and Reiger.
"Looking at you like this, I still can’t believe that the person who went mad in battle at Salisbury was you."
"...Aren’t you also the type to get extremely violent once you start fighting?"
Gawain and Reiger glared at each other, then drank a toast to each other again.
It’s worth mentioning that the great battle between the two had only happened yesterday, yet today it seemed as if the fight had never occurred, with both of their wounds healed.
Gawain apparently recovered overnight thanks to the formidable regenerative powers of a Tusk Clan elf.
As for Reiger, it was probably Morgan who had used recuperative magic on him, healing his injuries, right?
This made the two of them consider whether they should simply start another fight right there.
After all, Reiger would certainly not mind.
As for Gawain, after giving it some serious consideration, he straightforwardly abandoned the idea.
"Without Her Majesty’s permission, I don’t dare to start a battle in the palace willy-nilly, after all, I’m not good at pulling my punches."
If the two were to battle, the palace was bound to suffer significant damage.
With Gawain’s strength, even if there were protective spells in the palace, they wouldn’t be able to completely withstand her rampage.
And with Reiger, who was even more violent than Gawain, once they started fighting, who knows when the palace would collapse.
Therefore, setting Reiger aside, Gawain decisively gave up the idea of clashing.
"No worries, there will be a chance."
Gawain looked at Reiger with a rather meaningful gaze.
Obviously, this Elf Knight didn’t believe that Reiger would continue to stay here as the Queen’s husband obediently.
Thus, after leaving behind that meaningful remark, Gawain then left Reiger’s room.
But to Reiger’s surprise, soon after Gawain left, another visitor came knocking at his door.
"So, you live in a place like this?"
With the entrance of a cool voice, a Dragon girl with swaying silver-white hair entered Reiger’s room.
It was Britain’s strongest Elf Knight, Lancelot.
"You?"
Reiger was taken aback.
There, the Dragon Elf who had fought to a bloody standstill with Reiger in Salisbury had now removed the goggle-like facemask, also stripped off the armor that looked more like a mech suit than actual armor, and even the outward armguards that could shoot out lightsabers were taken off. Appearing in front of Reiger, she looked like a princess who had stepped right out of a fairy tale, wearing a blue dress with a white base.
"What, you’re surprised to see me here?" The Dragon Princess tilted her little head and said, "Are you surprised by my visit?"
"...How can I not be surprised?" Reiger put away his astonished expression and spoke with mixed feelings, "The enemy who fought with me to a standstill just yesterday is now coming to see me in succession. Those who don’t know might really think I have a good relationship with you all."
Upon hearing this, Lancelot’s first reaction was to frown.
It was infuriating that even when frowning like this, Britain’s strongest Elf Knight still looked exceedingly beautiful, exuding an extreme aura of pity.
"A standstill, you say?" Lancelot spoke with a complex tone, "Teaming up with Gawain and Woodworth, we couldn’t take you down; instead, you wounded us badly. Personally, I don’t wish to call that a standstill."
"So what now?" Reiger sat there with his unfinished beer and said to Lancelot, "Are you here to challenge me, seeking revenge?"
"If possible, I would indeed like to do that." Sitting down opposite Reiger, Lancelot sighed and said, "But Her Majesty wouldn’t allow it, and Aurora wouldn’t either. Truly bothersome."
While speaking, Lancelot noticed the cup opposite Reiger.
"Did someone just visit?" With a sudden realization, Lancelot asked, "Was it Gawain?"
"Yes." Reiger responded, then added, "You knew Gawain was here?"
"After all, you just mentioned that the enemy who fought you to a standstill yesterday has been dropping by to see you today." Lancelot slightly lifted her eyelids to look at Reiger and said, "And judging from Woodworth’s attitude towards you, there’s no way he could possibly come here. So, that leaves Gawain."
"That’s rich coming from you." Reiger said absentmindedly, "That little dog doesn’t have a much better attitude towards you, right? Even Gawain doesn’t like you, does she?"
Lancelot was momentarily at a loss for words, hesitant to speak.
"Oh?" Reiger said with a half-smile, "Seems like you’re somewhat aware of it."
"...I suppose so." Lipping her lips, Lancelot said, "It’s just that I don’t understand what exactly they hate about me."
Saying this, Lancelot shook her head.
"No, that’s not right. I can guess why Woodworth hates me; he’s always been disgusted with us Elf Knights of unclear origins. But why does Gawain feel the same?"
At these words, Reiger glanced at Lancelot.
Reiger, who was familiar with the original story, naturally knew why Gawain didn’t like Lancelot.
