Chapter 591: 488 Is he human?_2
Yet, Altoria’s appearance, like that of the earth, teeth, and winged four clans, also differed. Instead, she resembled Reiger in looking very similar to a human. Given this, why had they never been suspected of being human?
Because fairies also use their extraordinary senses to distinguish humans, sniffing out the different scent emanating from humans as opposed to fairies and also sensing the different kind of Magic Power in humans.
Therefore, although Altoria looked like a human, similar to Reiger, no one suspected her of being one because she possessed the scent of a fairy as well as the Magic Power of a fairy.
So why hadn’t Reiger been recognized as a human?
It’s simple, really, because of the skill "World Transparency" and "Pioneer of the Sun."
World Transparency allowed the sealing of fighting spirit and breath, greatly reducing one’s presence, which made Reiger’s scent and Magic Power not easily detectable; general fairies simply couldn’t perceive that his scent and Magic Power belonged to a human, only those with exceptionally sensitive smell or senses could possibly notice.
But due to the effects of "Pioneer of the Sun," the likelihood of being detected was almost reduced to zero.
One of the effects of "Pioneer of the Sun" was the ability to transform the holder into a sort of spiritual being.
Because of this effect, Reiger, though still human, acquired traits similar to those of spirits born from nature.
And what is the source of fairies?
Tracing back to the origin, aren’t fairies the world’s tentacles, a part of nature, the spirit born from inside the planet?
In other words, Reiger and the Paradise Fairy were actually somewhat similar, or you could say "Pioneer of the Sun" had given him a spirit similar to that of a Paradise Fairy.
And this bit of spirit, while perhaps imperceptible to others, could be noticed by those with exceptionally keen senses.
This led to everyone being deceived, assuming Reiger was a fairy, not a human.
Even if Altoria, who had the fairy ability to see through lies, didn’t have this ability, she might have doubted him even if Reiger confessed to her face that he was human, rather than being entirely convinced.
Beryl, however, could tell at first glance that Reiger was truly human.
His basis was not scent, nor Magic Power, and certainly not appearance, but rather an ethereal intuition.
"Should I say it’s a different kind of aura?" Beryl shrugged and said, "That’s right, fairies have superior senses but tend to overtrust their abilities. Add to that, most fairies care little for details, preferring things that are flashy and fun. For them, discerning things like aura must be tough, right?"
However, Tristan didn’t care about such things at all.
"Whatever that is, it doesn’t matter!" Tristan glared at Reiger as if looking at something filthy and said, "Have we all been deceived by him?"
If Reiger was human, then he could not possibly be the Child of Prophecy.
The Child of Prophecy is a fairy from the Paradise, not a human—this much is certain.
Therefore, Tristan claimed they had all been deceived by Reiger, thoroughly duped at that.
Only Beryl seemed unconcerned.
"After all, he doesn’t have the prophesied Staff of Selection, which is enough to suggest he might not be the Child of Prophecy, right?" Beryl laughed and said, "Rather than being deceived by him, we might as well say we’ve been fooled by Woodworth."
After all, from the beginning to the end, Reiger never claimed to be the Child of Prophecy, nor did he acknowledge it; merely because Woodworth persistently propagated this belief, all the fairies thought Reiger was the prophesied one.
"This is really going to be fun, the captive Child of Prophecy turns out to be a fake, and the Queen’s future husband is not a Paradise Fairy but a human. If this gets out, Britannia will surely be rocked quite a few times, right?"
Beryl grinned, his expression that of a person amused by the situation.
Tristan, on the other hand, looked furious.
"I’m going to tell Her Majesty right now!"
Tristan turned to leave.
In her view, the great Her Majesty must have also been deceived to want to marry this charlatan.
If Her Majesty was supposed to marry the Child of Prophecy, then this human before her could not be the one, and she naturally had to expose him as soon as possible so that Her Majesty could retract the order.
But this was purely Tristan’s overthinking.
"I don’t think Morgan would be unaware that her future husband is human, you know?" Beryl stroked his chin and mused, "Others might be fooled, but her majesty the queen certainly wouldn’t."
This was also Beryl’s intuition.
At least, Beryl did not believe that someone like Morgan, a peerless great witch capable of developing and studying numerous great magics, would fail to see through such a ruse.
Her Majesty the Queen surely knew that her chosen future husband was a human, not the Child of Prophecy.
What then?
She announced her intention to marry him, even though she knew he wasn’t the Child of Prophecy!
Adding to that, the issue of the ’Garden’ and the posts previously mentioned by Tristan made Beryl feel even more strongly that Morgan and this mysterious human had some secret unknown to him.
So, Beryl’s gaze upon Reiger deepened.
