Chapter 637: Crisis of Pan-human History
At this time, Altoria was indeed seriously considering.
Before this, she clearly had no motivation for the mission of saving Fairy Country, saving Britain, overthrowing Queen Morgan’s rule, and becoming the savior of this world.
If it were not for that inexplicable Paradise Fairy mission, Altoria would not even have considered it, much less embarked on a pilgrimage.
The world was a malicious storm to her; yet, she was supposed to save this malevolent world?
Even the most foolish of good people probably wouldn’t entertain such an idea.
Therefore, after leaving Tintagel Village, Altoria was quite confused and unsure of what to do.
If Reiger had not appeared, then after witnessing the villagers of Tintagel Village slaughtering each other and receiving Ecter’s advice, she would definitely have embarked on the pilgrimage, even though she herself had absolutely no motivation to do so.
However, Reiger’s appearance gave Altoria another option.
She could choose not to save Fairy Country.
She could choose not to redeem Britain.
She didn’t have to become the savior; all she needed was to become stronger, to gain the power to determine her own future.
With this goal in mind, Altoria temporarily escaped her state of bewilderment and followed Reiger to Salisbury.
But now, it had been proven that, even if she wanted to stray from her mission, others would not let it go so easily.
The Queen’s supporters, led by Woodworth, viewed the child of prophecy as a thorn in their side and were set on eliminating the prophesized one.
Morgan also saw herself as an arch-enemy, whether it was based on the fate written in the history of mankind or the antagonism between the two, she was destined to target Altoria.
The forces resisting the Queen already knew of the child of prophecy’s birth; even though they did not know the true Child of Prophecy was Altoria, they would eventually come knocking on her door.
Aurora and Alberon were examples; they had approached Reiger, planning to support and assist him, pushing both him and themselves onto a path of opposition against the Queen.
Under such compelling realities, Altoria had realized that no matter what, she was going to stand against Morgan.
Even if only for self-preservation, she had no choice but to confront Morgan.
If that was the case, she had to seriously consider whether to continue as before, taking one step at a time.
Certainly, under the push of reality, in the end, she would have to face her mission head-on.
This was also a change in mentality for Altoria after ringing the Pilgrimage Bell and glimpsing the memories of the history of mankind.
In simple terms, she was no longer prepared to run away.
Whether she wanted to be a savior, whether she wanted to overthrow the Queen, first and foremost, she needed to move forward.
With that in mind, Altoria turned her head and looked towards Reiger.
Coincidentally, Reiger was also looking at Altoria, and their gazes met.
In that moment, they both understood what the other was thinking.
"Do as you think is best," Reiger’s eyes conveyed such a simple yet reassuring message.
This also made Altoria realize that the man before her was in the same situation as herself.
He didn’t want to save the world.
He also didn’t want to overthrow the Queen’s rule.
But whether it was like before, wanting to confront the Queen’s powerful followers, or as it was now, having already become significantly entangled with Queen Morgan, the conflicts between him and the Queen’s faction were inevitable.
And so it was.
Reiger didn’t know why Morgan insisted on marrying him, nor why she implanted him with the "stake" pact.
All he knew was that there were likely many more incidents to happen between him and Morgan, and many more fates to understand and resolve.
Together with Gawain, Lancelot, Tristan, and Woodworth’s relationships with him—whether completely hostile or ambiguously friendly—their confrontations, conflicts, and even fierce battles were bound to continue relentlessly.
Therefore, his clash with the Queen’s faction had reached a point of no return, not quite a fight to the death but certainly to a point where a resolution was absolutely necessary.
In other words, whatever choice Altoria made, he would confront the Queen’s faction.
Realizing this, Altoria felt guilty and yet relieved at the same time.
The guilt stemmed from her feeling that if it were not for her, Reiger would not have been considered as the Child of Prophecy and targeted by the Queen’s faction.
The relief came from the somewhat unpleasant thought that she was not alone; knowing that Reiger would continue to stand with her on the same battlefront instinctively pleased her.
In such a situation, Altoria made up her mind.
"Even if it’s just for Reiger, I have to move forward," she thought.
With this thought in mind, Altoria turned her gaze towards Aurora.
"The Wind clan is willing to assist us; it is our honor," she said.
These were true words.
As mentioned before, regardless of whether Aurora was trustworthy, she indeed intended to overthrow the Queen.
With this premise, accepting Aurora’s help might not necessarily be a bad thing.
Even if Altoria still had no intention of overthrowing Morgan’s rule, garnering as much assistance and power as possible in her opposition to Morgan was ultimately beneficial.
Thus, Altoria had made her decision.
"The matter of the Pilgrimage Bell, I’ll entrust it to you, Aurora."
