Chapter 493: 451 belongs to Liz’s things
"Land of the Beginning?"
Reiger was somewhat stunned by Maya’s words.
"It is the place where God first descended, the sacred land of all humanity." Maya lamented that Reiger didn’t even know something of this level and explained, "The Hero King who first received God’s guidance and obtained power from God appeared in this place. After gaining strength, he also returned here."
"One could say that this place is the first station where humanity launched its resistance against the monsters that preyed on them; it is also the place where God was first worshipped."
"Therefore, this place is called the Land of the Beginning."
Upon hearing Maya’s explanation, the first thing that came to Reiger’s mind was whether this so-called Land of the Beginning could be the Hidden Land.
Thus, Reiger took out a map of the continent of Akasha from the storage space of the Dimensional Cube and spread it out in front of Maya.
"The Land of the Beginning you mentioned, where is it exactly?"
Reiger inquired.
"You indeed possess very convenient magic,"
Maya first marvelled at how Reiger could produce a map out of thin air.
The priestess did not know that Reiger had retrieved the map from the God she worshipped, it wasn’t done through magic.
Maya simply thought it was a kind of spatial magic, completely unaware that the God she worshipped was actually so close at hand.
After expressing her amazement, Maya turned her attention to the map, and her expression grew complicated.
"It seems a lot of time has really passed outside, I hardly recognize many of the countries and terrains on this map." Maya sighed and said, "Fortunately, the shape of the continent hasn’t changed."
Saying this, Maya identified the bearings and the overall position of the continent and after a while pointed to a location.
"This is where the Land of the Beginning is located." After Maya pointed to that spot, she added, "So it’s been built into a city now? And you’ve marked it too!"
Upon hearing this, Reiger fell silent.
He couldn’t help it, the city Maya was pointing to had indeed been marked by him and wasn’t unfamiliar in the slightest.
Liz also came running over, and upon seeing the city that Maya was pointing to, she was momentarily dumbstruck.
"Isn’t that Synyelle?"
The little princess was baffled.
Yes.
The location Maya pointed to was exactly Reiger and Liz’s ultimate destination for their journey, the Neutral City located in the Neutral Zone—Synyelle.
"The Dimensional Cube first descended here...?"
Reiger felt as though he was receiving guidance from some mysterious force.
He remembered the ancient ruins unearthed in Synyelle, which the Kingdom of Ginas dreaded to mention and that very likely had a deep connection with the Holy Sword Moslo.
"An ancient ruin excavated in the Land of the Beginning... huh?"
If someone were to say that the ancient ruin had nothing to do with the Dimensional Cube and the Holy Sword Moslo, Reiger would not believe it for ninety-nine percent of the time.
Unaware of this, Maya made some inferences from the expressions on Reiger and Liz’s faces.
"I see, so you’re planning to go to the Land of the Beginning?" Maya wasn’t surprised but understood and said, "Is it because of her?"
The "her" Maya referred to was undoubtedly Liz.
"Miss Fite." Reiger looked at Maya and finally asked, "Do you know about Liz’s origins and the origins of the sword she carries?"
The question made Liz tense up involuntarily.
However, Maya fell silent.
"Miss Fite?"
Reiger voiced his confusion.
"...Don’t ask me." Maya was silent for a long time before finally sighing wearily, "The matters of her clan are not for me to discuss recklessly."
"All I can tell you is, if you want to unveil her identity, then going to the Land of the Beginning is indeed a good choice."
"As long as it hasn’t been completely destroyed, you should still be able to find some traces."
Having said that, Maya stood up and addressed Reiger and Liz.
"Come with me."
Maya then turned around and walked in another direction.
"Where, where are you taking us?"
Liz hastily asked.
Without looking back, Maya just tossed a sentence over her shoulder.
"To give back to you what belongs to you."
...
Under Maya’s lead, Reiger and Liz walked into a door on the side of the temple.
Located behind this door was a room with an atmosphere clearly distinct from the rest of the temple.
The room was empty, like a solitary exhibition space with nothing inside except for a cylindrical glass case situated at its deepest part, quietly revolving there.
The cylindrical glass case was tall, reaching from the ceiling to the floor, resembling a transparent stone column.
Within this glass column, a ring hovered in place as if driven by an invisible current, floating up and down, rotating left and right, appearing quite mysterious and inconceivable.
Reiger immediately recognized that this was a highly-ranked secret treasure.
The evidence was when Reiger cast a "High-Level Item Identification" spell on it, yet the magic failed to elicit any information in response.
An item that could elude Reiger’s magic could only be achieved by some world-class items, such as the ones known as "the Twenty."
In other words, this ring was a magical artifact of that level, either surpassing the usual world-class items or even more precious than those.
"That’s the one," Maya pointed at the ring and said to Liz, "Go on, take it."
Upon hearing this, Liz became quite nervous.
"This is a really precious item, right?" Liz stuttered nervously, "I can’t just take it!"
"If I tell you to take it, you take it," Maya replied with apparent displeasure, "As I said, it was originally yours. Now it is merely returning to its rightful owner."
Liz did not know how to react to these words, but it was Reiger who spoke up from the side.
"Are you sure this belongs to Liz?" Reiger asked Maya seriously, "Could it be possible that you’re mistaken?"
"That’s impossible," Maya shook her head, denying Reiger’s suggestion while adding, "Only the blood descendants of her clan can wield the Holy Sword Moslo, so she must be the individual from that clan I’m thinking of."
"I see," Reiger nodded and asked, "So, you’re saying this ring belongs to Liz because she descends from the clan you mentioned?"
"You’ve got it right," Maya replied indifferently, "It’s something her clan left in this temple."
"Unfortunately, we were not able to complete it in time to use it against the impending catastrophe. In the end, we could only sink into the ground with it, letting it slumber here."
"Now that a descendant of that clan has come here, it is time for the treasure to return to its original owner."
"Go, take it,"
Maya instructed Liz.
"You are one of their people; the recognition spell set there will not react to your approach. You can safely take it."
Hearing this, Liz was still somewhat puzzled, unsure of how to react.
"Hum!"
At that moment, the Sword of Moslo in Liz’s arms suddenly vibrated, pulling her towards the direction of the ring.
"Ah!"
Liz was yanked forward, letting out a long cry of surprise.
Seeing this, Reiger finally understood why the Sword of Moslo had pulled Liz into the temple’s barrier from outside.
Could it be that the sword sensed the presence of this ring and therefore reacted in such a way?
"So it is the Holy Sword Moslo," Maya also muttered to herself, whispering, "The Archbishop and the High Priests granted the holder of the Holy Sword Moslo entrance authority when constructing the temple barrier. Hence, the child carrying the Holy Sword Moslo could pass freely through the temple barrier like this."
Reiger, with his keen senses, naturally overheard this murmur.
"Were you and Liz’s ancestors deeply connected?"
Reiger asked tentatively.
"It might be said that all temples had a profound relationship with her clan," Maya spoke softly, "After all, if we are to be precise, in our time, all temples on the surface could be considered offshoots of her clan."
Reiger wanted to inquire further, but Maya exuded an atmosphere that no more answers would be given, forcing him to furrow his brow in thought.
Despite this, Maya had already revealed much information. If organized, this could potentially unravel many mysteries, couldn’t it?
Reiger did not have the luxury of spare time at the moment and had to note these matters down, to be sorted and pondered later.
And so, Liz stood in front of the glass column, holding the Sword of Moslo that could fly off at any moment, her big eyes fixated on the ring floating within the glass, her expression full of hesitation and indecision.
The little princess even cast several covert glances at Reiger, seeming very unsure and utterly lacking resolution.
Maya did not rush her and simply stood silently, waiting.
Reiger knew that continuing to delay was futile, so he nodded at Liz.
"Take it."
It was an item that at the very least matched the "Twenty" world-class artifacts.
It would be a waste not to take such a prize.
With Reiger’s encouragement, Liz finally stopped hesitating.
Thus, the little princess tentatively reached out, and her slender hand directly passed through the glass column, touching the ring.
The next second, Liz retrieved the ring from the cylindrical glass case.
Upon witnessing this scene, this time, Maya whispered in a voice so faint that not even Reiger could hear,
"With this, the last treasure of the Hero’s lineage has returned."
"It’s a pity, it’s too late."
"Too late indeed..."
