Chapter 312: 312 You’re gone again (Please subscribe! Please vote for the monthly ticket!)
———It was a nightmare.
If Negan ever had the chance to survive, he would definitely use this phrase as an opening remark when someone asked him what he had encountered.
The scene that unfolded before his eyes warranted such an assessment from Negan.
Negan could swear to the god he believed in most that he had never seen anything so preposterous in his life.
Whether it was being attacked by dragons in the mountains, being chased by giants with clubs during the extermination of demi-human tribes, or even that time when he encountered the hateful "Crimson Rose" woman who left him with a shameful scar on his face, none of those experiences were as outrageous as what he faced today.
Especially when the dragon-shaped lightning danced in the air, bearing its fangs and claws as it plummeted toward him, Negan would have turned tail and run if his body had allowed it.
Had it not been for Negan’s instinctive command to move the Monitoring Angel in front of him at the last moment before the dragon lightning struck, raising its shield to defend, Negan was certain he would be dead by now.
But aside from him, everyone else failed to escape unscathed from the dragon lightning.
His subordinates, who harbored fervent beliefs, were all turned into charred corpses, strewn across the ground.
All the summoned angels were obliterated on the spot, including the Monitoring Angel he had invoked with fourth-tier magic.
The ground bore charred marks left by the dance of the thunder dragon, still smoking.
There Negan stood, trembling, pale-faced, eyes vacant, absolutely unwilling to accept that all this was the truth.
"Thud."
After an unknown span of time, a figure descended before Negan, making a landing sound that was not loud, but markedly abrupt.
"Eek!"
Negan let out an indistinct shriek, his body no longer able to support itself, and he collapsed to the ground.
"I didn’t expect you to survive."
The person who, just minutes earlier, was deemed by Negan as an ignorant youth, approached him while saying so.
"Chain Dragon Lightning is a spell that continues attacking as long as its target exists, which is why I used this particular spell to deal with you all."
"Originally, by my calculations, a single use of this spell should have been enough to finish all of you off."
"Now it seems I used too little magic power, causing the subsequent power of the spell to fall short."
Reiger said this with a face devoid of emotion, slowly approaching Negan.
"You, don’t come any closer!"
Negan completely lost his composure, his usual calm gone, and like a frightened cat, he began to scramble backwards in panic as Reiger drew nearer.
However, his pitiful state did not evoke any pity from Reiger.
"I gave you a chance."
Reiger rested his hand on the knife at his waist.
Upon seeing this, Negan was about to scream, but suddenly remembering something, he frantically pulled out an object from his bosom.
It was an irregularly-shaped crystal, resembling a model of an iceberg, about the size of a football.
"Don’t come any closer!"
Negan, holding the crystal as if it were some sort of trump card, shouted at Reiger.
"If you come any closer, I’ll activate this!"
Negan raised the irregular crystal high.
Reiger immediately halted his steps.
"A Magic Sealing Crystal?"
He spoke softly.
"That’s right!"
Negan, seeing that Reiger recognized the crystal’s name, struggled to smile triumphantly.
"This is one of the Slein Church State’s treasures!"
In this world, there are three types of magic artifacts recognized to possess power beyond normal standards.
One type is the treasure left by the King of Greed who briefly ruled the world 500 years ago.
Another is the secret treasure created by the ancient magic of the Dragon King, who ruled the world before being overthrown by the King of Greed.
The last type is the divine treasures left by the six great gods who descended 600 years ago and established the foundation of the Slein Church State.
These three treasures possess intelligence-surpassing power, each one capable of producing effects beyond human imagination.
The Magic Sealing Crystal that Negan was holding was one of the many divine treasures left to the Slein Church State by the six great gods, a treasure that even within the state only a few had the privilege to possess.
The reason Negan had it was solely because the High Priest was concerned about the possibility of this mission going awry, and to prevent Gejiev from disregarding the nobility’s objections and taking the kingdom’s Four Great Treasures with him, he decided to award it to Negan as a precaution.
If Gejiev proved to be even more difficult to handle than expected, Negan planned to use this treasure against him.
Who would have thought that he would now be using it to intimidate someone else?
"Do you know what’s sealed inside this?"
Negan, as if grasping at a lifeline, trembled while forcing an extremely ugly smile.
"Inside is a spell for summoning a ’Seventh-Tier Angel’!"
The Magic Sealing Crystal, as its name implies, is a crystal that seals magic within.
This type of crystal was not a product of this world, but an item from ’YGGDRASIL’; its effect was to pre-seal a particular spell inside, and by using the crystal, the magic sealed within could be unleashed, allowing those who could not use that magic to gain its power.
The crystal could only be used once and was capable of sealing any magic of a particular tier, except for super-tier spells, even up to the tenth tier.
Though the Magic Sealing Crystal in Negan’s hands had only sealed a seventh-tier spell, for the people of this world, it was something unimaginable.
Because, in this world, humans can only use magic up to the sixth tier, and an artifact that enables one to wield seventh-tier magic is rightfully called a treasure, with no exaggeration at all.
"Summon Seventh-Tier Angel," if this magic were released from the sealed magic crystal, then Negan could summon an Angel whose level was comparable to those between level 43 and 49 in "YGGDRASIL."
An Angel of this level, in a world where even 29 is considered heroic, would be an invincible existence that swept all before it.
"The highest-tier Angel summoned by this crystal once single-handedly destroyed a demon that turned the continent upside down 200 years ago!"
Negan shouted at Reiger.
"Its power could even easily demolish cities! You’d better not..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Reiger had already moved.
"Puchi!"
With the ultimate flash of a blade’s light, a palm was severed from Negan’s body, falling to the ground along with copious amounts of blood.
The sealed magic crystal that was held in the palm also dropped, rolling to the feet of Reiger, who had drawn his sword at some unknown time.
"Aaah! My hand...!"
Negan’s screams only then began to ring out.
Reiger picked up the sealed magic crystal at his feet, weighed the irregular crystal in his hand, and said to Negan.
"Instead of blustering, you should have used this crystal directly to summon that highest-tier Angel you speak of."
"At least by doing so, you might have had a chance to fight back."
"Too bad, you’ve lost that chance now."
With that, Reiger took the sealed magic crystal, which the Slian Theocracy regarded as a treasure, and stored it in the storage space of his Dimensional Magic Cube.
"Give it back to me...!"
Clutching his severed hand, Negan howled in pain while actually lunging towards Reiger.
"Boom!"
With a muffled sound, Reiger kicked Negan away, causing him to roll on the ground.
"Holy Light!"
Suddenly, Negan, still in a prone position, stretched out a hand towards Reiger and cast a spell.
It was a third-tier magic, a holy attribute spell capable of projecting a bright light to inflict damage on evil enemies.
This spell was meant to be used against vile creatures such as the undead, yet Negan chose to use it against Reiger, a human.
Thus, a burst of intense light was projected by Negan towards Reiger, taking away his vision.
"Die!"
Negan roared with a ferocious expression.
"Magic Arrow!"
This was an attribute-less attack magic of the first tier. Though it was the lowest tier, it had the characteristic of launching an unavoidable, guaranteed-to-hit light arrow that would inflict damage on the opponent, regardless of the caster’s skill.
The number of light arrows increased with the caster’s level, up to a maximum of ten.
As a Magic Singer capable of using fourth-tier magic, just one step away from the Heroic Domain, Negan could not make the number of light arrows reach the maximum of ten, but five or six was definitely no problem.
Instantly, light arrows sliced through the air, hurtling towards Reiger, whose vision had been stolen.
Upon seeing this, Negan was confident in his victory.
Unfortunately, reality shattered his illusion.
"Bang!"
The very next moment, Reiger, whose vision should have been taken, swung his longsword, and the light arrows were shattered by him.
With a transparent sheen flickering in his eyes, Reiger looked at Negan’s ferocious and terrifying face and swung his sword once more.
"Puchi!"
With another flash of the blade, a burst of blood gushed from Negan’s chest.
"Ugh... Aaah!"
The captain of the Holy Scripture soldiers fell into the pool of blood with a wail.
Reiger, holding his longsword, took one step at a time towards him, finally arriving in front of him.
"Spare... spare my life..."
Lying in a pool of blood, Negan looked up at Reiger, who had approached him, with eyes wide open and tears streaming down his face as he begged for his life.
But Reiger had only one thing to say.
"Go tell that to the innocent villagers who were caught up in your conspiracy."
With those words, Reiger’s longsword swept lightly through the air.
"Puchi!"
Blood suddenly burst from Negan’s throat.
The vital spot was cut open, causing the Holy Scripture captain to gasp for breath.
Then, slowly, he lost all breath.
"Click..."
Reiger slowly sheathed his sword and, with a flicker of magic light, flew towards Kain Village.
In the plain, the bodies of clergy lie scattered all around, a lonely sight to behold.
