Chapter 61: Arrogant Young Master

Lin Fan wasn’t someone who tolerated humiliation. He glanced at the girl and said calmly, “People like you disgust me.”

“Dressed in expensive clothes, thinking you’re high and mighty—when in reality, you’re just a plaything for those so-called powerful people. Why pretend to be noble?”

The girl’s face turned red with fury.

What Lin Fan said was harsh—but it was the truth. She was indeed just a tool for someone in power. But how dare a man who looked like a beggar point it out?

Who gave him the right?

“Alright, alright, you dare insult me? Just wait. You’re finished!”

She didn’t dare argue further and turned to leave, tossing those threats over her shoulder.

Lin Fan watched her walk away with indifference.

He had always followed one principle—if no one offends me, I won’t offend them. But if someone crosses the line, I won’t hesitate to destroy them.

He didn’t seek trouble, but he wasn’t afraid of it either.

Without giving it another thought, he walked toward the restroom. After returning, he went straight back to the buffet.

Others came here for business and networking. He didn’t need any of that.

He was just here to eat.

Outside the Ziyang Trade Exhibition Center, Shen Wuxiao’s car pulled up.

He parked casually at the front steps, right by the red carpet.

Stepping out of the car, he looked at the decorated entrance and curled his lips in amusement.

So much drama. A red carpet for a dinner party?

If someone didn’t know better, they’d think it was a wedding.

Just then, Jiang Huaiyue emerged and walked over to him, linking her arm through his.

“You heartless man,” she teased. “I thought you’d open the door for me like a gentleman.”

Shen Wuxiao paused, then laughed. “Baby, the word ‘gentleman’ doesn’t suit me at all.”

His eyes swept over her appearance. She wore a neat, form-fitting evening gown—not overly revealing, but it accentuated every graceful curve.

Paired with her stunning face, she instantly outshined every woman at the event.

Jiang Huaiyue smiled and pulled him along. “Alright then, Mr. Shen, let’s go.”

Shen Wuxiao didn’t refuse and walked inside with her.

At the entrance, the doorman immediately bowed and greeted them respectfully.

Shen Wuxiao glanced at him and said casually, “Take care of the car. If anything happens to it, your legs might be broken.”

The doorman’s face turned pale and he nodded repeatedly. “Yes, sir! I’ll take good care of it!”

Jiang Huaiyue gave him a speechless look.

This guy really was a wild one.

As they entered the venue, they saw guests gathered in small groups, chatting politely, raising their glasses now and then.

“This place is huge,” Jiang Huaiyue remarked, looking around.

Shen Wuxiao scoffed, “It’s just for show. We’re not playing soccer here. What’s the point of so much space?”

He looked around with a sneer. “Don’t be fooled by their appearances. These people are dirtier than me. At least I’m honest about what I am.”

Jiang Huaiyue laughed. “No way. More wicked than you?”

“I’m serious,” Shen Wuxiao replied. “In business, I only take the big slices. These people? They fight over crumbs. Even leftovers, they’ll snatch like starving dogs. Stay away from them. Talking to them will only lower your status.”

“Let’s find a quiet corner and talk about love instead.”

Just as he was about to lead Jiang Huaiyue away, three middle-aged men came rushing over with flattering smiles.

“Young Master Shen! You’re finally here!”

They were the event organizers, and they couldn’t miss the chance to fawn over someone of Shen Wuxiao’s status.

Shen Wuxiao gave them a sideways glance. “What’s got you so excited to see me?”

The three quickly nodded. “Of course we’re excited! It’s an honor to have you here!”

“It’s a blessing for our humble event!”

Shen Wuxiao smirked. “Really? I arrived late. That’s not too rude, is it?”

“Oh no, not at all!” they said, panicking. “You didn’t come late—our dinner just started too early! Poor scheduling on our part!”

Jiang Huaiyue watched, speechless. She understood that with Shen Wuxiao’s identity, these people would agree with whatever he said.

But before they could celebrate pleasing him, Shen Wuxiao’s tone changed.

“Is that so? Then apologize.”

“…What?” The three were stunned.

But they quickly bowed. “Yes, yes! We’re very sorry, Master Shen! It was our fault—completely our mistake!”

“Please forgive us, Young Master Shen. Madam, please don’t be offended!”

Shen Wuxiao suddenly burst into laughter. “Relax. I’m just messing with you. Now get out of here.”

The three men wiped their cold sweat and forced a smile. “Yes, yes, of course. If you need anything, just call for us!”

Then they scurried away.

Shen Wuxiao led Jiang Huaiyue toward a more peaceful corner.

She asked in a low voice, “Wuxiao, why do you always bully people like that?”

Shen Wuxiao shrugged. “They enjoy bullying those weaker than them. So, I enjoy bullying them.”

“They respect me because of my power. None of them are good people. I’m just the worst of a bad bunch.”

Jiang Huaiyue lightly hit his arm. “You’re really too blunt.”

“I know,” he said proudly. “That’s why you and I make the perfect evil couple.”

She laughed softly. “I’m your woman. So, naturally, I’m part of your nest.”

She wasn’t naïve—she saw through the world’s ugliness just fine.

Earlier, she had seen those same organizers brush off toasts from less important guests with cold expressions. But when Shen Wuxiao arrived, they ran over with excitement.

Such shameless double standards.

Eventually, the two of them found a quieter lounge area with a wide view across the banquet hall.

From their spot, they could see Lin Fan sitting in the distance.

He was still eating—one hand holding a glass of wine, the other clutching a greasy grilled chicken wing.

Jiang Huaiyue spotted him and gave Shen Wuxiao a subtle glance. “That’s Lin Fan, isn’t it?”

Shen Wuxiao smiled and gently pulled her into his arms, putting a finger to his lips.

“Shhh.”

Jiang Huaiyue didn’t ask again and simply looked across the room.

Seeing Lin Fan now didn’t stir anything in her heart.

To her, he was just someone from her past.

She would’ve never believed there’d come a day when they would stand on opposite sides.

But now, it was clear—Lin Fan had already lost the advantage.
