Chapter 456: After modification: Chapter 466 Enchanting
Song Yi’s words were cut off as Chu Yan grabbed his ear viciously and demanded, "Song Yi, be honest with me. Did you make her lose her memory on purpose to get rid of your guilt?"
Song Yi felt like his ear was about to be torn off by this female bandit and said aggrievedly, "I swear, I don’t have such skills. Changing a face is not much of a technical challenge for me, but what’s inside the head, I dare not touch at all, one wrong move and it could kill someone!"
Upon hearing this, Chu Yan found some sense in his words and let go of him, muttering under her breath, "Then what should we do now? We can’t keep hiding her in the basement forever, can we? Besides, even though the boss rarely comes back, it’s only a matter of time before he finds out there’s someone living in his house."
Back then, Chu Yan was playing by the seaside and accidentally saved Lin Yixun, who was barely alive. Feeling a surge of compassion, she hid Lin Yixun in the basement of the villa and called upon the Old Madam’s private doctor to treat her.
Song Yi, despite his sharp tongue and careless demeanor, was quite skilled in medical arts. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been hired by the boss to take care of the Old Madam.
Since the Old Madam’s health was always poor and she would occasionally fall ill, the medical equipment in the villa was quite comprehensive, even comparable to a small-to-medium-sized hospital. This made it possible to save Lin Yixun’s life; otherwise, she would have died long ago.
Initially, Chu Yan thought that Lin Yixun would wake up after lying in bed for a few days, and she could send her away before the boss returned. But who knew that she would end up with a bigger problem, as no matter how long she waited, Lin Yixun did not wake up.
If it had been anyone else, they would have given up on Lin Yixun under such circumstances. But Chu Yan, despite her sharp tongue, had a soft heart and couldn’t bring herself to abandon her.
And so, time dragged on until half a year passed quietly. Now, Lin Yixun was finally awake but had lost her memory. What should they do?
"Then just send her away!" Song Yi shrugged.
"You say it so easily. She doesn’t remember anything. Where can we send her?"
"If we don’t send her away, what do you plan to do? Do you intend to keep her here? Now that she’s awake, she’s no longer half-dead like before. If the boss finds out you’re hiding someone in his house, we’ll both be in big trouble!"
Being "in big trouble" was a mild way of putting it. Chu Yan knew very well how serious the consequences would be. If the boss found out she’d hidden someone in the villa behind his back, he wouldn’t hesitate to feed her to Da Hei.
Da Hei was a German Shepherd owned by the villa’s boss.
At the thought of that terrifying scene, Chu Yan shivered and grabbed Song Yi’s hand in terror. "What should we do? What should we do now?"
"What should we do? We should send her away quietly before the boss finds out."
"But she..."
"There’s no buts. We’ve already saved her life, we can’t take on her entire future, can we? Besides, we have no choice. You know very well what the boss hates the most."
Chu Yan naturally knew that the boss hated people working behind his back the most.
"When should we send her away?"
"No time like the present. How about today?"
"No." Chu Yan shook her head vigorously. "Her leg muscles have degenerated severely. Walking is a problem right now. At least let her recover a bit before we send her away, right?"
"Alright, it would be a waste if she were to die as soon as she went out. Let’s wait another month. The boss is scheduled to return at the end of next month. As long as we send her away before then, we’ll be fine." Song Yi hesitated for a moment before suggesting.
Having agreed on a plan, both of them breathed a sigh of relief. Sending away this ticking time bomb was better than keeping her around and risk the explosion.
After reaching an agreement, they pushed and shoved their way back into the basement. Song Yi cleared his throat and said to Lin Yixun, "Now that you’re awake, we were planning to send you back. But considering your amnesia, you can stay here for now."
"Thank you!"
"Don’t thank us too soon. Once your leg muscles recover and you can move freely, you cannot stay here anymore."
"Alright, I’ll leave when the time comes."
Seeing Lin Yixun alone and pitiable, Chu Yan felt a pang of sympathy and wanted to say something. But the thought of the boss finding out what she’d done made her swallow her words.
"You really don’t remember your name?" Song Yi stretched his neck and asked.
Lin Yixun nodded heavily.
"How should we address you then?" Seeing that Lin Yixun had no idea, a brilliant idea flashed in Song Yi’s mind, and he immediately suggested, "How about we call you Shi Yi? ’Shi’ from ’Xi Shi’, and ’Yi’ from ’memory’?"
As soon as he spoke, Chu Yan stepped on his foot viciously. "What kind of name is that? It’s just mocking her. ’Shi Yi’ sounds like ’amnesia’! You’re too mean!"
Lin Yixun, however, didn’t mind and shook her head with a smile. "It’s okay. It’s just a name. Besides, it suits my current situation very well."
In the following days, Lin Yixun’s activity area expanded from her room to the entire basement. She was puzzled why Chu Yan kept her in this dark basement and repeatedly warned her not to go upstairs.
Though confused, Lin Yixun didn’t press for answers when she saw Chu Yan was evasive. Chu Yan had saved her life and taken her in; that was kindness enough. She didn’t want to ask for more. If she had to stay in the basement, then so be it. It had everything she needed anyway.
A few days later, Lin Yixun could move around, though her legs, having been inactive for so long, were still not very agile. At least she could walk on her own.
The only thing she found hard to get used to was her face. Maybe it was because of her memory loss, but every time she looked in the mirror, her face seemed incredibly strange.
This face was too enchanting, with an almost bewitching beauty. Even with a plain look, there was a mesmerizing allure in her eyes. If she felt this way about her own face, it wasn’t hard to imagine how others would react to it.
