Chapter 61: My Fault

Chapter 61: My Fault

Rhydian;

"Alana!!" I scream in fear as I rush out of my tent to the middle of the campsite.

"Alana, get out here!" I scream again as I try to shake Elián awake, but he’s unresponsive.

Alana is the only person here who can give any semblance of help. If she can’t...

"Alpha Rhydian??" I hear her voice call, and I snap my head back to look at her.

"Hurry. Elián got stung by a scorpion! He’s lost consciousness!" I inform her, and her steps falter.

"What?!" She questions in horror before picking a pace and rushing over.

She kneels beside Elián and takes his face in her hands as worry floods her eyes.

"What kind of scorpion was it?" She questions, and I struggle to get my thoughts in place, but I don’t know what scorpion it was.

"I don’t know... it was brownish, and it stung him twice," I inform, and Alana’s face falls.

"I... I need to see it to know what treatment to administer." She informs me as she stands up, and I point at my tent.

"It’s in there," I inform her, and she rushes over to my tent without hesitation.

A few seconds later, her mortified scream rents the night, and I shut my eyes. It’s that bad?

Fuck, how could I be so careless??

She comes back out running, and her eyes lock with mine.

"We don’t have much time. It’s a red scorpion." She informs, and I swallow.

I don’t know what a red scorpion is, but from the way she said it... it’s nothing good.

She turns to the guards, and I watch as her expression shifts to complete seriousness.

"Quick. You. Get me Tamaran leaves and Meckerberry roots." She speaks. Barking orders as she begins to rush back to her tent.

"You, get me something to crush them with. Alpha Rhydian, cut the wound open!" She add as she rushes into her tent, and I stare down at Elian’s limp body.

This is my fault. I foolishly didn’t bring a physician on this trip with me. It’s a three day trip, and for some reason, I was confident that we wouldn’t need one.

Thankfully, Alana is from the Floplin clan, and they are experts with herbs and medicine. Otherwise... Elian...

I watch as my men run around in a frenzy and guilt set in.

Elián’s words reply in my mind and I slump on my calves as I stare at his pale face.

"Yes, I dislike you, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to let you die so cheaply."

Alana comes back with a few vials and herbs in her hands and she looks up at me with wide eyes.

"You haven’t cut it open!?" She snaps as she kneels beside Elián, and pushes me away.

I watch in stunned silence as she rips Elian’s top off, and there at his side are two furiously red bumps.

Alana swallows and looks about at the guards who are scampering to find what she ordered for.

"This won’t do..." she whispers as she presses the sides of the sting site and blood.

"I’m going to have to suck the venom out." She says, and my head snaps at her.

"Suck it out?? Isn’t that dangerous!?" I demand and she shrugs.

"It is. I could die. But I’d rather that than Master Elián dying." She replies, and my heart skips a beat.

She worries so much about him... why?

From all I’ve heard, he’s constantly getting her in trouble and causing her stress. Why then is she so devoted to him?

Isn’t he entitled... and arrogant. Like all other Royal Omegas?

I watch Alana take a deep breath as she roughly tied her hair behind her.

She moves closer to Elián, and I grab her shoulder.

"Wait."

She looks at me with creased brows before yanking her shoulder out of my grip.

"We can’t wait. His life is on the line. I need to get some of the venom out of him before it gets to his heart." She informs, and I raise a brow at her tone.

"I... I’m sorry." She apologizes as she drops her head, and I sigh.

This is my fault. I miscalculated and I got him stung. He went out of his way to try and save me even when he didn’t have to, and what did he get in return? Death in my place.

No. I... I can’t live with that.

"I’ll suck the venom out."

Alana snaps her head up at me in shock, but I ignore her.

"Move." I order as I gently push her away, and take my place beside Elián.

"Al...Alpha Rhydian, I can’t let you..." She begins but I cut her off.

"You do not have the power to let me do or not do something." I state sternly before looking up at her and she blinks at me in silence.

"Just tell me when to stop." I add, and she nods hesitantly.

I take a deep breath, and dip closer to Elián.

This can go two ways. Bad, or very bad.

If I ingest the venom... I guess I’ll just have to be careful.

It’s my fault he’s in this state.

I place my lips on his body that is alarmingly growing cold, and begin to suck desperately at the sting sites.

The metallic taste of blood coats my tongue and I spit immediately while Alana quickly kneels beside me.

"Alpha Rhydian, you really shouldn’t be doing this. It’s risky." She complains but I ignore her.

I keep sucking and spitting as the guards finally bring some leaves and plants to Alana.

I watch as she hurriedly sorts through them and starts crushing them into a paste.

I feel my lips and tongue start going numb and as my vision slowly start blurring, it dawns on me.

Shit. I’ve somehow swallowed some of the poison.

Alana quickly rushes to me and pushes me off Elián.

"That’s enough, Alpha! Drink this!" She orders as she shoves a vail in my hand but I remain frozen as she applies the paste to the sting marks.

She tilts Eliàn’s head and empties a vail into his mouth.

She turns back to look at me and her eyes go wide.

"Light! You’re going pale. Drink it!" She screams as she rushes over to me, and that’s the last thing I hear before everything goes black.
