Chapter 79: Mind Link

Chapter 79: Mind Link

Alana🌸;

I pace anxiously in the hallway with the tray in my hand, trembling uncontrollably in my hands.

I let out puffs of air to calm myself, but nothing works. If I am caught, I will most likely be killed. But I can not let this happen.

Master Elián... the poor boy...

He acts tough and stubborn, but I can see right through that. He’s scared. So much has happened to him in such little time, and his stubbornness is his only defence. It’s all that’s keeping him from breaking apart, but that stubbornness is the same reason he’s currently in such a mess.

Six Betas. I saw those men troop into the room, and sorrow drilled my heart. It reminded me of the brothel. I know what it is to be molested into submission. I know what it does to the mind... the body... the heart...

I can not let that happen to Master Elián, but the only person who can save him is Alpha Rhydian. And he’s in that heavily guarded room, still under Alpha Liandria’s Moon Command.

I have to get to him. I need to wake him up so he can save Master Elián. If I fail... if he doesn’t save Master Elián... I’m afraid the young man we all know... the fire that makes Master Elián the character he is... it’ll all change. It’ll be gone.

I can not let them break him like that. I won’t let it happen!

I take one more defiant breath before straightening my back and steadying the tray of food in my hands.

I walk out of the corner and keep my head up as the guards in front of Alpha Rhydian’s room look up at me.

I tighten my grip on the tray and steady my steps as I walk into the midst of five bulky guards.

I stand before the two guarding the door, and towering over me, they stare at me like I’m something they can squash.

"State your business here, Omega." One of the guards says, adding the last word like a filthy slur, and I let out a breath.

"I’ve brought lunch for the prince," I say, and the second guard speaks.

"You’ll have to take that back. No one goes in or out of this room. Luna’s orders."

"But the Prince is on medication. He ingested scorpion venom some days back and is still taking the antidote for it. If he doesn’t eat, how will he take his medication?" I reply, lying through my teeth, and one of the guards eyes me suspiciously.

"The same scorpion the prince claims his omega saved him from?" The guard questions, and I do not miss the mockery in his tone.

I look up into his bright, golden eyes as I narrow my eyes.

"Are you saying your prince was lying?" I question, and he scoffs before taking an intimidating step forward.

"I’m saying you can not go in. Not without the queen’s permission at least." He replies, and I gulp.

Light!

I can not go to the queen for permission!

What do I do!??

"So, knights of the kingdom don’t mind their prince dying?" A voice suddenly speaks behind me, and immediately the guards around me fall to their knees with their heads bowed.

"Alpha Igma." The call in reverence, and when I turn around, I freeze when I see the lady from yesterday.

Alpha Liandria’s niece.

What is she doing here!?

Goodness!!

If she finds out the truth... Will she report me to Alpha Liandria?

"We meet again." She says casually as she walks up to me, and I swallow before bowing to her.

After that chase incident, I had hoped not to cross paths with her again... but here she is... standing right in front of me.

Why is today bringing one problem after another??

"Alpha..." I greet with fear, thick in my voice.

She stops right in front of me, and her voice comes again.

"Rise."

I slowly raise my head as the guards rise, and she reaches for the tray in my hands.

She opens the covered dishes and inspects the steak and salad with her eyes.

I stare at her luscious, berry blue hair that glistens proudly in the sunlight. Not muted out by the floral pins in her hair.

Her cocoa skin glows with majestic beauty... the kind of beauty that could effortlessly enchant any person.

She looks up at me, and our eyes meet for a second before I quickly look away. She caught me staring.

Wait. I’m getting distracted. Master Elain needs my help, and I’m here admiring... I mean staring at...

What do I do??

"Step away from the door." She suddenly says as she turns to the guards, and my eyes widen as I look up at her.

"But, Alpha Igma, the Queen..."

"My cousin has been poisoned and needs his medicine. Are you telling me you’ll let him die??" She cuts the guard off, and I blink at her in awe.

"No, Alpha Igma, but..." The second guard starts in panic, and she raises a hand.

"I’ll go in with her to ensure she doesn’t do anything funny. If my aunt asks, I will face her myself." She speaks, and the guards share a look.

They look at me, and I swallow as they reluctantly pull the door open and step aside for us.

I watch her walk in, and I gulp.

Oh, no.

She’s going to be in there with me...

How... how would I tell Alpha Rhydian about Master Eliàn’s predicament with her there?

Once she notices that there actually isn’t any medicine, won’t she drag me to Alpha Liandria herself??

What now...?

************

Igma💙;

I walk over to Rhydian’s bed, and I swallow as I stare at him, fast asleep with no idea of the terror his omega is at the brink of facing.

This boy clearly means a lot to him. I would know. I’ve never seen Rhydian so... defiant or worried about anything before.

He’s always been too terrified of his mother to speak against her, but today he did just that. It says a lot.

If I didn’t know him any better... I’d think he’s fallen in love.

Who would have thought? My arrogant cousin, who always did whatever his mother demanded... Finally, in love and even rebelling against her.

I brush his hair off his face and smile bitterly at him. Another victim of Alpha Liandria’s cruelty.

I come back to the present when I hear a click beside me. I turn around and find Alana setting the tray down on a stool.

She looks petrified. She’s afraid... of me.

"You’re quite brave," I say, and she steals a glance at me through the curtain of her chestnut brown hair.

"H...How so, Alpha?" She questions, and I smile.

"I know you came here to wake Rhydian up so he can help your master," I reply, and her eyes widen a bit before she looks away in visible panic.

"I...I didn’t..." She begins, and I smile before moving closer to Rhjydian.

"It’s okay. I came here for the same reason." Reason, and although I’ve turned away from her, I can tell my words stunned her.

"I can only hope he wakes up, though. I do not have the power to undo the Luna’s Moon command." I reply, and silence stretches.

There’s one drastic measure I hope to try. Rhydian and I once tried this when we were younger. It worked, but we both hated it. We could hear all of each other’s thoughts, and it was overwhelming.

That was when we were kids who played together. Now, we’re adults. With so many thoughts and worries. It would be overwhelming, it may bounce back, or my mind might end up carrying a part of the Moon Command, too and knock me out... But it’s worth a try.

I’m tired of watching Omegas suffer at Liandria’s hands.

"W...why do you want to help?" Alana’s soft voice questions, and I look up at her. At her sweet, delicate features and expressive brown eyes.

"Because I do not share my aunt’s resentment for omegas. Contrary to her doctrines, I have a deep respect for Omegas and believe they should be allotted more respect." I reply, and she blinks at me in silence. Clearly not expecting that reply.

"Also... I have a feeling my cousin cares a lot more than he’d admit for the boy."I add, and she blinks at me.

"Now... I need silence. I’m going to try to reach into his mind and somehow pull him past this trance. I don’t know if it would work, but whatever happens, I shouldn’t be interrupted. Guard the door. Can you do that?" I say to her, and she turns to the door.

She stares at it for a second and looks back at me.

She nods confidently with her rabbit ears bouncing adorably in the process, and I smile.

"Thank you," I reply, and she rushes over to the door, quietly locking it from inside.

I turn back to Rhydian and gently slip my hands under his head.

I let out a breath as I shut my eyes.

"Dear moon goddess, please let this work," I whisper before placing my forehead against his and letting my mind drift in search of his.
