Chapter 107: Goodnight
Koda;
"Hey, you bully, what are you doing!? If you try any perverted stunts with me, I’ll scratch your eyes out! Put me down! Put me down!!"
Elián keeps thrashing in my arms as I carry him, and I roll my eyes at his ineffective punches and struggles.
I get to the bed and set him down, and he glares at me as he huffs.
"If you so much as lift my shirt, I’m gonna scratch your eyes out!" He snaps, and I let out a sigh.
He’s always so feisty.
"Why are you here? There’s no need to share a hut. I’ve never shared a room with any of you before, why start now!?" He rages further, and I stare at him in silence.
He’s right. Usually, I would have left him to have his own hut, but not now.
I’m not risking it.
I know Gravemaw is highly secure, and people fear invading Mother’s kingdom, but I still can’t play by that.
There’s someone after Elián, and I have to protect him. That means not ruling anything out. I have to ensure that he’s never alone.
Alana isn’t even here to help. He’s fully my responsibility now.
I won’t be able to sleep, not knowing what’s going on with him, and wondering if he’s safe.
"I swear to God, I’ll scream!" He rants, and I snap back to reality.
"I’m not going to touch you." I sigh, and he pauses. He looks like he almost believes me... Almost.
But then he scoffs and crosses his arms against his chest.
"Yeah, right. All men do is lie!" He replies, and I raise a brow in shock.
"And you’re a woman??" I retort, and he blinks at me.
"That’s not what I’m saying! Look, I don’t care what you say. You can’t sleep here! I’m not about to have six babies!" He replies, adding the last part under his breath, and my brows crease.
Six babies??
What is he talking about??
"Elián, it’s imperative that I stay around you..." I begin, but he cuts me off.
"Why!? Am I in danger!? Am I some precious jewel someone might steal away if you turn your back on me for just a minute!?" He demands, and I freeze.
Yes!
To both things... but I can’t tell him that...
I went to check on him while he was with Mother. He looked so bright and happy. He was so eager to learn everything Mom taught him about our people. His walls were down the entire time.
That’s the freest and happiest I’ve ever seen him. I’m not going to ruin that for him by telling him that we are here because he’s in danger.
"Why are we even here? If I were to leave Howleroot, why not just take me back to the estate? Am I meant to go on some kind of excursion to all your individual kingdoms?? And why isn’t Alana here? I know you asked her not to come. You planned all this. This has been your motive, hasn’t it!? You want to get in my pants!!" He accuses, and I blink at him in amusement.
"Well, let me tell you, Mr., you’re backing up against the wrong tree. No force on earth is getting my pants off tonight, so trash those hopes!" He adds, and I shut my eyes in annoyance.
You know what? I don’t even understand half of what he’s saying, but enough with his smart mouth.
I grab his hand, which is pointing at me, and the other, which is pushing me away from him.
I pin his wrists above his head and lean in until our breaths mingle.
He gasps and stares at me with wide eyes, and I smirk.
"So what if I want to get into your pants?" I question, and he blinks at me in horror as his chest slowly starts rising and falling as he breathes shakily.
"What if I’m tired of being civilised and want a taste of you tonight? What are you going to do about it, Elián?" I question as I lean closer and he presses himself deeper into the bed to create some space between us.
However, I lean in even closer, and he gasps. His eyes dart to my lips, and for those two seconds, it’s almost like I can hear his intrusive thoughts, and they’re they’re thing I badly want to feed.
I move closer again, and his eyes finally flick back to mine.
"Alpha Koda, you..." He begins, but I cut him off by pressing my lips against his.
He freezes under me, and I feel gentle spasms rush through my body as our lips connect.
I pull away after the feather-light kiss, and his eyelids flutter like the wings of a butterfly as his beautiful red eyes watch me.
"You talk too much," I whisper, and he swallows.
"Like I said earlier, I’m not going to touch you unless you ask me to. I need you to learn to trust me." I add, and he swallows as he stares at me.
"You’re new here. Alana isn’t here to help you. You might need something in the middle of the night and not know who to ask or where to go. It’s my duty to look after you, so I’m staying here to help you. I’m only here for your comfort, so use me." I continue, and I watch his cheeks turn rosy red as he stares at me.
His pheromones shift to that delectable scent of honey. It’s so thick this time, I can almost taste it.
His lips press into a small pout, and it makes me want to laugh.
"Do we still have a problem?" I question, and he hesitates a bit before shaking his head in negation.
"Good. Now, be good and go to bed. I heard Mom saying you have another tour tomorrow. You’ll need your strength." I reply as I finally let go of his hands, but he stays frozen as he stares at me.
"And not all men are liars, Elián. Even if we are... I would never lie to you." I say before pulling away from him, while he just blinks at me.
"Goodnight, Elián," I add before getting up and walking over to the candles.
I blow them out, and just as I walk over to the last candle to blow it out, his voice follows.
"You’re lucky I’m not in the mood to fight tonight. I’d have kicked your ass." He says, and a smile splits my face as I blow out the last candle.
"I guess I’m lucky then."

Rhydian;
"Have you gotten word from Elián?" I question Alana who’s been walking beside me in the night’s silence with her gaze glued to the ground.
"No, Alpha Rhydian. But Rowan sent a raven informing me that they arrived safely and Alpha Koda said to tell you that Master Elián is settling in well." She replies and I nod in silence.
Elián didn’t send a letter to me... Is he still upset with me?
Has he even thought about me since he left?
"Here I was starting to like you cause I thought you liked me too, and then you go behind my back to do this!"
His words replay in my mind, and I let out a sigh. He... he started having feelings for me before he left...
Has that changed now?
Will not seeing me erase his feelings for me?
Have I lost him??
Maybe I should go to Gravemaw to see him. Father will oppose... but Father doesn’t have to know. No one does.
I’ll just... I’ll just go there to apologize to him. Only to say I’m sorry for being a fool and scolding him like that.
Sure, he was childish and acted based off jealousy, but I shouldn’t have spoken to him the way I did.
I have to tell him that. I wanted to apologise to him, but I didn’t get the chance to before he left with Koda.
I miss him. It’s not even been two days, and I so desperately want to see him again.
The only comfort I have is his room which still smells like him.
I know it’s almost psychotic that I asked Alana to warn the palace staff that no one should clean or touch anything in Elián’s room, but that is the only way to preserve his scent.
And it’s something I desperately need.
We finally get to Elián’s room, and Alana speaks.
"Alpha Rhydian, you had a long day. What would you like to eat before going to bed? I can go to the kitchen and have them whip up..." She begins, but I raise a hand to stop her.
"Do you smell that?" I question, and she raises a brow.
"Smell... what, Alpha?" She questions, and I turn to Elian’s room in disbelief and building infuriation.
Alana steps closer to the door and after taking one whiff, she freezes.
"Oh, no..." She mutters. She looks up at me with scared eyes and my heart drops into my stomach.
No. It can’t be what I’m thinking.
He wouldn’t dare!!
I grab the doorknob and fling it open as I step into the room.
The thick scent of mangled pheromones rushes at me, and everything inside me freezes over when I see Bram fast asleep on Elian’s bed.
