Chapter 41: A Blonde Grizzly Bear
Koda;
"Wow..."
My ears twitch as the word leaves his lips.
It was woven under his breath. Barely audible, but I still heard it.
I turn back to look at him and I find his eyes wide as he stares at the sky, the tall trees, and the flowers around.
Looking at him now, in the middle of these tall trees, with his big, excited eyes, his parted lips, black outfit and glowing beauty... he looks like art.
Art that fits perfectly with this place. At first glance, it’s easy to say he’s a gift from nature. Something that grew under nature’s warm embrace. Molded by Mother natures hands and kissed by her love.
He doesn’t seem like most of us... and certainly doesn’t look like us. He looks better. Much better.
Like a higher being unaware of how much power is wrapped up in the little vessel he calls a body.
As his eyes dart around, he looks back at me, and his smile falters like I just caught him doing something wrong.
He forcefully tries to force a smile, but it’s alarmingly fake.
Hmm
I turn away from him to ease his tension as we continue our walk to the stream.
I think it’s a good thing that he suggested staying around me. I can take advantage of this. I can get a closer look into his mind and understand how it works.
I want more than many things to know and understand what goes on in that mind of his. I’m sure it’s pure chaos, but I’m more than interested.
"How is he going to fish without a fishing rod?" I hear him whisper to Alana, and my brows crease.
"Fishing... rod? Why would he need a rod to fish?" Alana questions, and a soft chuckle escapes me.
That’s exactly what I want to understand. What goes on in his head? He says the weirdest things sometimes. Last time he mentioned a ’robot’... I still haven’t found any books with information on that
I’ll keep searching. I intend to keep Elián by my side till we’re grey and old.
Unlike some other Alphas, we don’t believe in using and discarding Omegas. I intend to mark Elián and keep him as mine... ours if any of my brothers are interested in laying claims to him as well.
I think Zephan has grown a soft spot for him.
Either way, Elián will be well fed, kept happy and comfortable. I have it all mapped out. If he doesn’t pose a threat to Beastheaven of course. That, and if he’ll allow us to mark him.
"Is he always this quiet?" He whispers to Alana again, and I smile.
"Elián?" I call before Alana can respond, and there’s silence for a second before his voice replies.
"Y...yes..." He begins in a panicked, croaked voice. He stops, clears his throat, and speaks again.
"Yes, Alpha Koda." He responds, and something about how timidly he calls my name warms my heart.
"Walk with me," I order, and soon, I hear the pitter patter of his feet.
He catches up to me and walks silently by my side.
I stare down at him and he’s as stiff as a tree’s trunk. Why is he so scared around us?
Other Omegas throw themselves at Alphas on impulse. But this one...
He steals a glance up at me, and when he catches me staring, his cheeks turn red as he quickly looks away.
His scent shifts heavily to honey, and I raise a brow. That’s new... honey... he probably smells like this when he’s... shy?
I’m going to enjoy figuring this puzzle out...
"A...Alpha Koda, how do you... how are you going to fish?" He questions, without looking up at me, and I blink at the odd question.
I turn to the stream just a few feet away and shrug.
"By getting into the stream and using my hands. How else?" I reply, and he looks up at me with wide eyes.
"Your... hands?? Isn’t that stressful??" He questions with honest concern in his eyes, and my head tilts as I stare at his innocent face, and big, worried eyes.
"Fishing is an important custom to my people. My mother taught me well how to fish. You’ll see." I reply, and he blinks at me in silence before looking.
"Of course. He’s a bear. How could I forget that? Forget fishing rods, they probably don’t even know what a hook is." He mumbles under his breath, and I raise a brow.
What is he talking about??
And he still hasn’t realised that our hearing is sharp enough to hear even the smallest intake of air he makes. Talk more about all his mumbling...
That’s right. The hospital didn’t get back to me about the medications for his memory. I should write them tonight.
I approach the stream, and I notice that Elián has stopped moving.
I turn to look at him, and he’s frozen. Just standing there and staring at the water. I look at Alana behind him, and she shrugs softly.
She doesn’t know what’s going on.
He isn’t planning to drown himself again, is he?
"Elián?" I call, and his eyes dart up to meet mine.
"What is it?" I question, and he forces yet another smile before taking a step back.
"N-Nothing. I’ll just... I’ll just watch from here." He replies as he takes a step back and folds his legs under him as he sits on the floor.
I tilt my head as I stare at him, and he flashes me a nervous smile before looking away.
Is he scared of water? That makes no sense. He threw himself off a bridge just a few days back.
And now... this little lad...
I turn away from him and walk to the edge of the stream. I stare at the clear water as schools of fish swim by, and I smirk. Beautiful.
I stand up straight and stretch my muscles before getting into the water. I shut my eyes and let out a growl as I feel my beast core release itself inside me.
My vision shifts as my eyes open, and as I feel the wind travel through my fur, a smile splits my face. My transformation is complete.
I turn to Elián who I know has never seen me in my beast form before. I huff in amusement when I see his eyes wide and his face pale as he stares at me.
Why does he look like he’s seen a monster??
******
Elián;
Everything was going okayish, till Koda got into the stream and a puff of blonde colored clouds covered him.
I had seen something like it before... with Zephan. When he grew out his snake tail. But this is different.
This cloud is bigger. Thicker...
I stare closely as the cloud settles and I feel everything inside me freeze when a blonde grizzly bear emerges from the cloud.
My jaw drops as I stare at it. And suddenly, it turns to me. A gasp escapes me as I stare at its golden eyes.
....Koda’s eyes. These people can transform fully into their animal species... how did that never occur to me?
He huffs at me, and my heart falls into my stomach.
Koda is a bear. A fucking, huge, blonde grizzly bear!!
My eyes widen when he suddenly starts moving towards me.
Why...why is he coming to me?? Is he going to bite me? Eat me?? Do they have their human consciousness when they’re completely transformed like this, or am I about to become light snack to a fucking bear??
I try to scurry back, but Alana is suddenly behind me. I look up at her in alarm, and she smiles reassuringly at me.
"He’s not going to hurt you." She whispers, and I turn back to Koda who’s only just a few inches away from me now.
I can feel my heart beating in my fucking back as the massive creature in front of me draws closer. Our eyes lock, and I can’t help the tremble that takes hold of my fingers and legs.
There’s... there’s a fucking bear in my face. What do I... what do you do when a bear is just a breath away from your face!!
I never took survival classes about bears. What in the Natgeo Wild is this!?
He huffs again, and I shut my eyes as his warm breath hits my face. If he opens his mouth, my whole head would be gone in a blink.
I shouldn’t have asked to spend the whole day with him. Now I’m about to be bear food.
Is that why they brought me somewhere so secluded? So no one would hear my screams??
Fuck!
I feel something warm boop the side of my face, and I open one eye. It’s his nose. He did it to get my attention.
I stare at him, and suddenly, his massive tongue licks the side of my face.
"Ugh!!" I scream in disgust as I quickly wipe his slobber off with the sleeves of my shirt.
He huffs in disapproval as he sits in front of me.
Am I losing my mind, or can I actually tell that this bear is disappointed by my reaction?
"Don’t look at me like that! You had your saliva all over me!" I snap, and he huffs back. This time harder, like he’s retorting.
He licks me again, and I nearly lose it.
"You fucking...!" I scream in annoyance but stop.
Cursing out a bear doesn’t seem like a good idea.
"Stop it!" I snap as I wipe off his saliva again, and he tilts his head as he looks at me.
He suddenly moves one of his paws, and my heart dies in my chest.
What now??
