Chapter 39: Mask Your Scent

Chapter 39: Mask Your Scent

Alana🌸;

"Where... Where am I?" He mutters, and I freeze.

Huh!????

What does he mean by ’where is he’?? Has he lost his memory again??

He turns to me and goes rigid as our eyes meet.

"M...Master Elián?" I call softly as I try to touch him, but he quickly sits up straight and begins to look around the room as if in search of some monster.

"Alpha Zephan isn’t here, is he?? Is he the one who sent you to get me??" He panics – bundling the covers off himself as he prepares to bolt, but I quickly hold out my hands to stop him.

"No! No! Alpha Zephan isn’t here. It was Alpha Rhydian who brought you in. I... don’t know where you were or what happened. Alpha Zephan isn’t anywhere around here." I explain swiftly, and he finally stops.

He looks a bit relieved, and this only heightens my worry.

"What... what happened last night, Master Elián? Didn’t you say you were going to bed?" I question, and he looks up at me.

He stares at me for a second, and then away... like he’s battling to put all his thoughts in place.

He shuts his eyes and sighs.

"Alpha Zephan was waiting in my room." He says curtly, and my brows knot.

So late at night? What was he doing...

"He tried to mark me last night." He adds, and I freeze.

He looks up at me, but I can’t get out of my state of shock yet.

"Wha...what??" I question, and he gives me a tight smile.

"He apparently didn’t like the way I gave all my attention to Alpha Koda during dinner last night, so..." He explains, and all I can do is blink.

That makes no sense. Alpha Zephan isn’t one to be so... irrational. Besides, isn’t Master Elián for Alpha Koda? Why would...

"I think my pheromones had something to do with his reaction... I don’t know. I... I have no idea how to stop or control these pheromones that everyone’s talking about. Is there a way to get rid of them?" He adds, and my eyes widen ever so slightly.

Oh...

His pheromones...

Now, I understand...

No one has addressed it yet, but the maids and workers gossip about it.

I’m pretty sure the Alphad have noticed too. Who wouldn’t??

There’s something different about Master Elián. Something... unique.

His scent is too strong.

His pheromones...

Ever since his arrival, the scent of this entire estate has changed.

His scent completely masks every other scent. Even the Alphas’ scents are untraceable in Master Elian’s presence. That’s abnormal.

No normal Omega has pheromones so strong. Imagine the chaos his pheromones would cause when his heat cycle begins?

From the front door, anyone with a working nose can easily tell that there’s an omega within our walls.

A truly unique one at that.

His scent is so peculiar and unapologetically bold, it’s ironic that he’s clueless about how distinct his scent is.

With pheromones like that, it’s a wonder that the Alphas are able to keep their calm around him.

The first night he arrived, I feared for him. I thought all the brothers would take and claim him that very night. But I guess I gave the brothers very little credit.

Compared to how Alphas and most Betas behave in this messed-up world of ours, the Ashfang brothers still have some dignity and self-control.

Self-control, I’m afraid, is beginning to dwindle...

No wonder Alpha Zephan ordered me to keep Master Elián away from him.

"Alana, where did you go? I’m asking if there’s a way to get rid of my pheromones. I don’t want a repeat of last night!" Master Elian’s voice breaks into my thoughts, and I swallow as I look at him.

Get rid of his pheromones??

That’s insanity.

He’s a beastman without a beat core. If he gets rid of his...

Even if there was a way to get rid of his pheromones, I’ll never let him find that out.

Without his pheromones, he’ll be deemed an utter outcast.. He won’t be considered one of us in any way, and that is when hell will properly begin for him...

I’d never do that to him.

"I’m sorry, Master Elian. There’s no way to do that." I reply, and his face falls.

As an Omega as well, I can understand his fear. The fear of our pheromones attracting beasts to us, but Master Elian has no idea how deep his fear ought to run.

When we walk by, even the guards... Betas who ought to know better... Even the guards take long breaths to fill their lungs with enough of his scent.

If this estate were like any of the places outside BeastHeaven where Omegas aren’t cherished by their owners, I’m pretty sure the lightforsaken guards would be queuing to take turns on him.

But there’s no need to burden Master Elian with such disturbing facts.

Maybe later today, I’ll talk to Alpha Koda about getting Master Elian some scent suppressants... Hopefully, he agrees. That should keep Master Elian safe for some time... And hopefully he doesn’t react badly to the side effects.

"So I have to be such being a magnet for problems I don’t want?!" He suddenly snaps, and I take a deep breath before standing up.

"Master Elian, you may not have noticed, but your inability to control your emotions is the exact reason your scent is everywhere," I speak, and he raises a brow at me.

"Right now, you’re upset, and you smell like fire mints. Spicy... and sharp," I add, and he raises a brow before taking his nose down to one of his pits and taking a sniff.

"I can’t smell anything." He notes, and I shrug.

"We usually can’t smell ourselves. That’s not how it works... Maybe during your heat cycles... You would be able to... But not generally." I begin, and he stares at me in silence like an obedient little puppy taking life lessons.

I must admit. This young man is adorable. I’d better keep him safe. Innocence like this is rare to come by.

"So... others can smell me?" He questions, and I nod.

"But I can’t smell you." He retorts, and I sigh as I pull the chair back to the corner of the room where it belongs.

"That’s because I know how to control my emotions and mask my scent," I explain, and he tilts his head as he stares at me.

"If I were like you and couldn’t do either, I’d be like this most of the time..." I speak as I let go of my pheromones, and his eyes widen as he takes a breath.

"Wow! You smell like... Almond milk and... blueberries!" He exclaims, and I pause.

Well, that’s a first.

I’m usually told I smell like vanilla and milk. Almond milk is the first specific one I’m getting, and blueberries??

I mask my scent as I get back to the bed, and he stares at me in awe.

"I want to be able to do that too. Will you teach me? Please..." He replies as she sits on his calves and faces me.

I smile at the bright hope in his majestic red eyes and nod. Sure, it will take sme time to teach him, but what use is my time if I can’t help him.

"Sure. I’ll teach you." I reply, and he smiles like a child I just promised chocolate.

"But first... You need to bathe." I note, and he nods. Still excited by my agreeing.

"Yes. I have a long day ahead with Alpha Koda!" He announces as he rushes past me, into the bathroom, and I pause.

After all that happened last night, he still wants to spend today with Alpha Koda?

Master Elian truly is unpredictable...

I hope today favours him. He’s had a rocky past few days in this estate.I hope today goes easy on him... But deep down, I fear this estate hasn’t finished testing him yet
