Chapter 45: Zethar Comes Home 2
Elián;
"This is bad, Alpha Koda. If Maruck is dead... it means Alpha Zethar didn’t just kill and decapitate the leader of the trope. He would have done much worse..." the young man who I’m now suspecting to be Koda’s assistant whispers, and I act like I’m focusing on the scene ahead, however, my full attention is on what Koda and the guy are discussing.
"Will you blame him? Maruck was like a brother to him. All I’m worried about now is that whatever he’s done may allow Balinar to forcefully push our doors open." Alpha Koda replies and I raise a brow.
"What if that was the plan?" The young man replies and I blink in silence.
"There’s no way Balinar didn’t know Alpha Zethar is a killing machine. He knew Alpha Zethar would come out unscathed. What if he did all this to push Alpha Zethar’s hands?" The young man replies, and my brain starts racing.
Wait... why is this sounding like the foundation of some kind of war is being laid?
Am I about to get whipped up in some crazy ass war? A war??
Oh, come on!!
"All the workers out." The king suddenly announces, and my heart skips a beat.
Oh, shit’s about to get real.
I stare closely at both of them, but only realise something is wrong when Alana gently brushes past me.
Wait. He said workers.
Am I... am I a worker?? Do I leave too?
I’m certainly not family? But calling myself a worker... that’s disgusting. I’m not a...
I think I’ll just... I should go. The king clearly wants to have a private conversation with his sons and I shouldn’t be here.
I take a deep breath before taking a step away, but I’m stopped in my tracks by Koda’s arm which is still wrapped around my waist.
I turn around in confusion and he’s looking at me with blank, unreadable eyes.
Even his assistant has left. Why is he holding me back?
"He said workers." He simply says and my mouth falls open as I lack what to say.
"You’re not a worker." He adds, and I blink at him.
He looks back up at the only other two people in the room, and I follow his gaze. However my heart dies in my chest when I notice that they are both looking at us, and Zethar has his gaze fixed on... me.
"Why, hello there." He greets me with a curious head tilt and every single organ in my body ices over.
Shit. He’s looking at me... he’s talking to me!!
This head-snapping chaos is looking at me. What do I do??
I instinctively look up at Koda, and of all the times he could let go of me... he chose now.
His grip pulls away from my waist, and my eyes widen at him as I see Zethar starts walking over to me from the corner of my eye.
I turn back to Zethar, and a gasp escapes when I find his face is just a few inches from mine. I feel my body start trembling as my eyes dance over his.
Just like Zephan, he also has heterochromia. However, his are the opposite version. Unlike Zephan’s eyes which are gold on the left, and blue on the right... Zethar’s eyes are blue on the left, and gold on the right.
His eyes however are... not as open as Zephans. I can’t read anything from his eyes. No emotions, no thoughts, no feelings... just curiosity.
He suddenly lifts a hand and I flinch. I involuntarily grab Koda’s arm as I stare at the man who’s practically staring me in my face.
He looks at the way my hand clutches Koda’s and he smirks before looking back at my face. I hold my breath as he moves my hair away from my eyes, and I can hear my heart pounding in my ears.
Something shifts in his eyes as he looks at me and something deep and ugly twists inside me. That feeling of... hideousness...
I look away from him as words from most of my life resurface.
"Hey, take those contact lenses out. They make you look like a freak."
"Look at him. He thinks he’s an anime character! Those red eyes make you look like a dork!"
"Are you some kind of demon? How the fuck does someone get red eyes?"
"They’re real!? Wow, you must really be a freak! How did your mom survive having you look up at her while suckling as a baby??"
"Ugh, don’t look at me with those ugly eyes!"
The words pour down on me like a horrid thunderstorm, and I shut my eyes tighter as I feel tears build in my eyes.
"You have pretty eyes."
The words hit me like a pause button. Everything goes silent.
Every thought, every fear... every anxious pessimism... it all goes quiet.
I open my eyes and look back up at Zethar who is still leaning way too close for comfort.
"I’ve never seen anything quite like it. I could stare into them all day." He adds with a small smile as he caresses my cheek, and I blink at him in silence.
My grip on Koda’s arm loosens a bit as I stare back at the man in front of me, and he suddenly lifts my chin - tilting my neck and trailing his nose along the curve of it.
"You smell divine too." He adds, and I gulp.
What’s he doing?? He takes a deep sniff and I feel everything in my body stand at attention.
"W-What are you doing??" I stutter in panic, and I feel his lips curl into a smirk against my skin.
"Ah... He talks..." He smirks as he pulls away from me, and I blink at him as his face turns back staring at mine.
"Zethar, leave the boy alone. That’s not why I asked the workers to leave." The king says, but this man doesn’t move.
Instead, he suddenly crouches in front of me, so our faces are finally at a manageable gap difference. I stare down at the man who’s smirking up at me, and I feel my throat dry up.
"Is he the Omega we got?" He questions as he looks up at Koda for the first time since this entire interaction began and Koda slings a hand across my shoulders.
"Yes." He replies, and Zethar smirks as he looks back at me.
"Good choice. He’s pretty." He says as he trails a finger down the side of my face, and by now, my heart is pounding so hard I might pass out.
"And he smells delicious." He adds as he licks his lips, my eyes widen in shock. He snickers at my reaction and I gulp.
God, this man is hot. What... what is this!??
I nervously move my hands to my crotch area as I feel a part of me beginning to get excited and I feel heat creep up to my face.
"Zethar!"
"There’s no need to be loud, Father." He replies as he raises a finger to his father without even looking back, and my eyes widen.
"Tell me pretty thing. What’s your name?" He questions and only then do I realize that I’ve lost my voice.
He raises a brow at me and I struggle to clear my throat under his watchful eyes.
"Selective hearing?" He questions and I stare at him in awe.
"N-N-No. My... my... Elián is mine." I blurt and freeze when I realise the atrocious senselessness that just escaped my mouth.
He blinks at me for a second, and then he starts laughing. Full on cackling while I feel shame consume me whole.
I move closer to Koda in embarrassment, suddenly wishing I could hide inside him or vanish into thin air.
"He’s cute too!" He exclaims, and I shut my eyes and press my face into Koda’s arm in embarrassment.
"Zethar!" The king’s voice suddenly booms, and I hear Zethar sigh.
"Ugh. You’re such a princess, Father. Very impatient!"
