Chapter 16: Missing me already?

"I want to be alone with my grandmother. Go away," Sara said, glaring at Luca.

"Jonathan, make sure to give Madam Katherine her favourite Jasmine tea," Luca said. "I’ll leave both of you alone," he instructed and walked out of the mansion.

Sara made her grandmother sit first before taking a seat beside her. "Did Dad not get angry at you for coming here? Please don’t ruin your relationship with Dad because of me."

"Sara, my son has lost his mind. He didn’t let me come to your wedding. I feel so hurt that you were all alone yesterday. I don’t care whether my relationship is ruined or not," Katherine stated. "I’ve brought your luggage here. Since you’ve married Luca, this is your home now."

Sara’s eyes landed on the three large cabin bags resting beside the couch. "Aren’t you upset with me at all? Grandpa also put in a lot of hard work in the company. Luca’s investment could save it, so I felt marrying him would be the best choice. I argued with Dad in the morning. Now, I feel I said more than I should have."

"Adam did speak about it upon returning home. He said you questioned his intentions in raising you," Katherine said. "You didn’t say anything wrong. Adam did marry that cunning woman for his own benefits. All he thinks of is his business, nothing more. I’m not angry with you, but my son. He didn’t help you when he could have."

She turned quiet upon noticing the maid entering the room with a tray in her hands.

"I’ll pour the tea for Grandma. Thank you," Sara said as the maid rested the tray on the glass table. Sara lifted the teapot and filled a porcelain cup with fresh Jasmine tea.

"Luca still remembers what I like in tea," said Katherine with a small chuckle. "That boy is still enigmatic to me. But now I’ve warned him, I’m sure, he won’t trouble you."

"Yes," Sara nodded.

"What about Asher? Did you talk to him regarding all of this? Poor guy! He was so in love with you," Katherine said, lifting the cup from the saucer.

"He didn’t love me," Sara said, a dark expression surrounding her face.

Katherine noticed it and lowered the cup from her mouth. "What do you mean?"

"He’s been sleeping with Frida," Sara replied.

"What?" Katherine’s eyes widened in shock. "Her both kids have ruined your life. First Diego, now Frida! I curse them to suffer endlessly. I told my son not to marry their mother. They all are the same." Her fury only heightened. Then, she noticed the pale look on Sara’s face.

Lowering the cup to the saucer, she pulled Sara into a hug, her hand moving to Sara’s hair. "You have me, dear. Throw that junk out of your mind. Luca might have hurt you in the past, but he stepped up to help you in the time when no one did. He must have feelings for you, so move on. You can do better. And once things calm down, return to the Falcone Industries. I’ll talk to your father. Don’t worry."

Sara let out a low hum, but only she knew Adam would never let her step into the company. She snuggled close to her grandmother as if it was the only protective embrace for her.

Luca put back the lighter into the pocket of his blazer as he let out a puff of smoke from the cigarette as he looked at Asher, who was struggling to get free from the chair on which he was tied.

"Let me go! You Bastards!" Asher screamed.

He gestured to one of his men, who lowered the blindfold from Asher’s eyes.

The sharp glow of yellow light fell into his eyes, making him close them instantly. A moment later, he snapped them open and saw a familiar face.

"You?" Asher shockingly asked.

"How was the night in the prison?" Luca asked, bringing the cigarette down between his fingers. "A dirtbag like you shouldn’t have invoiced yourself with Sara. You even made her cry. I simply hate it."

Bringing the glowing cigarette butt over Asher’s thigh, he lowered himself and continued, "Why did you date Sara when you were going to cheat on her?"

"Ahhhh!" Asher screamed at the top of his lungs as the burning cigarette met his skin. Tears escaped from the corner of his eyes. "Please, don’t do this! I beg you!" He pleaded.

Luca stepped back, throwing the cigarette on the ground. Asher breathed hard and sweat trickled down his forehead.

"You should have taken my warning seriously," Luca said, tucking his hands into the pockets of his trousers.

"Please, let me go, Luca. I swear I will never-never come in front of Sara. It was my fault from the beginning," Asher said, crying his eyes out.

"Don’t take her name from your filthy mouth," Luca said sternly. His deadly glare was enough to make Asher purse his lips tightly for a few seconds.

"Luca, you need to calm down. Sara is going to get scared seeing your avatar," said his best friend, Remo, who finally leaned forward from against the window. "Just let him go and get it over with."

"Stay quiet, Remo," Luca said, glaring at him.

"Well, your wife is calling you repeatedly," Remo pronounced, looking at the phone, which was lying on the table. "I guess, it’s her third missed call." The screen of the phone turned black as Remo glanced at him.

Luca picked up the phone, wondering why Sara suddenly called him.

"Don’t feed him tonight. Let him suffer more," Luca ordered his men before walking out. Remo followed him closely.

"Maybe she is missing you," Remo whispered with a smirk.

"Not a chance," Luca replied and dialed Sara’s number. The call connected and her soft, melodious voice came from the other side though it carried mild annoyance.

"Where have you gone?"

"Are you missing me already?"

Remo chuckled in a low voice before meeting Luca’s glare.

"My grandmother can’t eat dinner after nine. So, come home before the clock clicks nine. She refuses to have dinner without your presence."

Before Luca could speak, the call disconnected.

"She hung up on you!" Remo remarked, laughing. "Tell me at least why did you have to marry her? She’s not the kind you even entertain around yourself."
