Chapter 339 - 338: I Forgot to Take My Medicine

Chapter 339: Chapter 338: I Forgot to Take My Medicine

The night was already deep.

Daisy Ginger muddled out of the man’s embrace, only to be dragged back under the covers.

Edward Stephens’s voice was somewhat hoarse: "What’s wrong?"

"I forgot to take my medicine..."

Daisy’s voice was very drowsy, but she still struggled out from under the covers to reach the medicine bottle on the bedside table not far away.

Edward lazily rubbed her smooth back a few times, "What’s there to take... Didn’t I wear it today?"

Daisy was so sleepy she was groggy, but she was firm: "No way."

This was her short-term contraceptive pill, which needed to be taken on time every day to achieve contraceptive effects.

Missing even one day was not acceptable.

The man let go, watching Daisy roll out of his arms, back to him, as she poured the pills and swallowed them with water.

He propped his face, watching her, with a hint of a smile on his face, but that warmth didn’t reach his eyes.

After taking the medicine, she finally settled back under the covers, wrapping herself up and murmured, "So sleepy, so sleepy," and soon fell asleep.

The man looked down at Daisy, who had fallen asleep in his arms with one breath, and couldn’t help but laugh.

He reached out, gently pinched her small, perky nose, "Do you really not want to have my baby that much?"

In the end, she still didn’t want to stay with him.

When she knew nothing, she too anticipated the arrival of a child with him.

Such a ruthless woman, not giving him a single chance.

Even as their bodies entangled, her heart was far from him, always ready to turn away at the slightest chance.

Since that’s how it is, he couldn’t be blamed for being heartless.

For him, as long as there was a bit of hope, he wouldn’t have gone to these lengths...

In the blink of an eye, they had been in Chicago for three months.

Under Edward Stephens’s care, Daisy quickly gained ten pounds.

Every day when she stepped on the scale, she was anxious.

She felt this couldn’t continue!

If it went on like this, she’d soon become a big fatty!

Though she thought like this, she couldn’t resist when Edward took her out for delicious food.

She could also sleep an afternoon away, nestled in an air-conditioned room.

She never knew she was such a lover of comfort and ease.

Squeezing her chubby baby fat cheeks, Daisy was a bit distressed.

She was really being spoiled by Edward!

Edward was quite happy, holding her at night, pinching her waist, praising the feel of it.

Damn it, he didn’t understand a woman’s weight concerns at all.

Morning.

Daisy was still drowsily curled up under the covers when she felt the man next to her release her and get up, already beginning to dress.

She opened her eyes with effort, watching the man’s tall figure in the clear, transparent sunlight, full of the agility and vitality of a wild animal.

She rubbed her eyes and sat up in bed.

The man heard the sound, turned back, and kissed her forehead: "Be good, sleep a little more, no need to rush up."

She had become a bit round lately; she’d gained only from eighty-some pounds to over ninety, which wasn’t much for her height. It just made her face look more youthful and cute, wearing a strap dress, sleepy and with a soft, pinkish charm, very appealing.

Daisy was too sleepy to open her eyes, letting Edward kiss her on the face several times, then replied hoarsely, "No way..." If this kept up, she’d be ruined.

The man didn’t force her, stepped back, watched her lift the covers, stagger out of the bed, and head into the bathroom to freshen up.

Daisy washed her face, barely clear-headed, tiptoed to weigh herself.

In just one week, damn it, she’d gained two pounds again!

She was shocked awake and looked in the mirror; she didn’t look that much fatter!

Edward had already changed, walked into the bathroom, saw Daisy standing worriedly on the scale looking in the mirror, wrapping her waist from behind, "What’s wrong?"

"I need to lose weight," Daisy touched her much rounder stomach, musing, "I might be getting old, my metabolism’s slowing..."

Otherwise, how could she gain weight so fast?

Edward measured her waist with his hands, "Not bad, I think it’s quite nice."

Of course, you think so, you’d love it if I had more meat!

She rolled her eyes at him, worriedly looked in the mirror, and walked out of the bathroom.

Edward turned his head, glancing at Daisy’s back.

She wore a strap slip dress, her figure still slender and delicate. The morning sunlight fell on her, giving her fair skin a delicate sheen.

Maybe Daisy hadn’t noticed, but her skin had improved a lot.

His gaze fell on her small belly, his eyes, unconsciously, deepening slightly.

*

Daisy decided to give up oily, spicy foods, and Edward accommodated her, eating light meals with her every day.

Just somehow, maybe due to insufficient nutrition, she always felt very sleepy, not getting enough sleep, utterly exhausted.

Edward seemed considerate of her as well, no longer tormenting her at night. She took her long-acting contraceptive pills on time every day and quickly finished a month’s supply.

Early summer, it was over twenty degrees in Chicago.

Edward nudged Daisy awake; she groggily realized she had fallen asleep on the desk again.

Had she been sleeping too much lately?

Her mind foggy from oversleeping, the man draped a thin trench coat over her shoulders, "Darling, let’s go home for dinner tonight, alright?"

Lately, Daisy had been sleeping too much and eating too little, lacking real appetite.

She thought for a while, saying, "I need to stop by the pharmacy later. Let’s eat out while we’re at it."

The man paused, turned to look at her, "All out of pills?"

"Yes." Daisy stood up, her back to him, tidying her coat, "Finished for a month."

The man didn’t say anything, only stood behind her, arranging her collar.

She lifted her eyes, glanced at him, feeling the softness and warmth in his gaze.

Daisy withdrew her gaze, stepped out: "Let’s go."

Looking at her with such deep eyes, with such tenderness, was against the rules.

During rush hour, there were too many people on the road, so Edward didn’t drive and walked with her on the sidewalk.

Passing by the pharmacy, Daisy went in to buy medicine while the man waited at the entrance.

When she came out, suddenly, a black teenage boy standing on the steps rushed towards her. Daisy couldn’t dodge in time, was hit hard by him, stepped back, and fell onto the flowerbed.
