Chapter 314: Chapter 314: I Don’t Want You to Cause Trouble
Ariana Grant didn’t find it inconvenient; she and Leon Zeller were destined to have no outcome.
"So..." Ariana quickly sized up the person in front of her. Although he couldn’t be described as very handsome, his features were regular. He just wasn’t very suitable for wearing historical costumes.
Toward the young man in front of her, she actually didn’t have any feelings.
But seeing so many people looking at them, she couldn’t help but give him face, so she ended up adding him as a friend.
As soon as the friend request was accepted, the young man smiled.
"Thank you."
After speaking, he turned and left with his phone, returning to his seat.
His seat was directly across from them, in the east section, but in the third row.
Once he left, Ashley Shaw immediately gave Ariana a look and raised her eyebrows.
"See, I told you the Empyrean Dynasty clothes suit you? You should dress like this more often."
Ariana blushed and said, "If I dressed like this outside, wouldn’t people think I’m crazy?"
Shane Coleman, disagreeing, said from the side, "More people are into cosplay now, the general acceptance is much higher than before. No one will think you’re crazy. If you dress like this more often, I guarantee your love life will flourish."
Ariana shrugged.
"I’m not bothered about a love life or not, just give me more fortune."
Besides, who knows if the guy added her on WeChat for her?
What if his intentions were elsewhere, like for Ashley?
She’s encountered such situations many times before.
In high school, men often bought her Coca-Cola every day just to make themselves known in front of Ashley Shaw.
However, just at that moment, her phone chimed with a ding, and the guy sent a "Hello" emoji.
Ariana replied with a "Hello" emoji too.
Soon, the man sent another text.
"Hi, I’m Ethan Hughes. I find you cute and was wondering if I could have the chance to treat you to a meal?"
Ariana stared wide-eyed in shock.
He was... really interested in her?
This time, Ariana felt a bit flustered and didn’t dare to reply to his message.
Fortunately, The Nocturne started at that moment.
Classical music surrounded the hall of The Imperial Hall, and soon, a group of beautiful dancers in historical costumes appeared.
As the songs and dances filled the room, palace maid-costumed waiters began serving one dish after another.
The first dish to arrive was a cold appetizer.
Ariana quickly devoured it, and seeing this, Ashley offered hers too.
"No!" Ariana said, "You eat it yourself, I need to save room for the good courses that come later."
Ashley smiled and took her plate back.
Meanwhile, on the second floor.
Unlike the downstairs guests and waiters in historical costumes, the people inside the best viewing box were wearing their own clothes.
Sitting in the main seat by the window was Lars Prescott, sharply dressed in a suit, with Warren Prescott sitting beside him.
Warren was still in the black casual wear he had on when he went to Ashley Shaw’s for dinner earlier.
He nonchalantly glanced at the few people sitting around the table.
James Langley couldn’t bear the torment any longer yesterday and confessed to his own wrongdoing, stepping down that very day.
Today’s distinguished guests of Lars Prescott were precisely those who were about to replace James, Hank Hayes and his family.
Besides Hank’s daughter, Zoe Hayes, his wife was also present.
Warren Prescott was the last to arrive.
Zoe, who was lively and active before Warren’s arrival, suddenly became quiet.
A delicate face occasionally blushing with two clouds of pink.
She had come with her father from Riverton and had never seen someone so good-looking before.
With just one look, she was smitten.
She couldn’t help but notice Warren’s every move, yet didn’t dare look at him openly, so she pretended to watch the performance downstairs.
But how could her little thoughts escape the eyes of the people present?
Hank was the first to notice his daughter’s unusual behavior, frowning slightly.
Unlike James Langley, although he was transferred from a small place, he was more measured because of it.
He was quite clear that his daughter could never enter the Prescott Family’s door.
Since it was impossible, this notion had to be nipped in the bud.
Hank found an excuse to call Zoe outside the box.
Outside, Zoe couldn’t help but asked, "Dad, what’s wrong?"
Hank pulled his daughter to a quiet corner before speaking, "Do you have feelings for Young Master Prescott?"
The question was so direct, Zoe’s face instantly turned red.
She pouted, "Dad, what are you talking about?"
But Hank’s expression remained stern.
"Zoe, I’m not joking with you right now, honestly answer me, yes or no?"
Zoe had never been spoken to in such a tone by her father before, and her expression turned rather unpleasant.
She clenched her fists and said, "So what if I do..."
Hank’s expression became even more serious.
"If you do, you need to drop this thought immediately and at once."
Zoe’s face turned pale.
"Why?"
"Because I don’t want you causing trouble."
Zoe frowned and asked, "What does causing trouble mean? Just having feelings for him would cause trouble? Dad, what nonsense are you talking? Are you drunk?"
With that, Zoe turned to leave.
Hank pulled her back.
"Zoe, I’m saying this for a reason. We’re worlds apart from the Prescott Family. Don’t think just because they invited us to dinner that we’re in the same circle. The truth is, they don’t regard us as anything significant. Therefore, do not keep staring at Warren Prescott when you go back in."
Zoe felt a surge of unprovoked anger.
How are we not in the same circle?
Aren’t we sitting at the same table eating?
Besides, her dad just received the appointment, and hasn’t even officially started, yet the Prescott Family took the initiative to invite them to a meal. Isn’t that a gesture of goodwill?
If even the Prescott Family needs to show goodwill, doesn’t that mean they’re at the same level?
Yet her father was blatantly implying she wasn’t worthy of Warren Prescott. What kind of dad was he?
Was she really that bad?
Anyway, she got into Aethelgard University, soon to be a top student there!
Zoe was about to speak when a little palace maid from The Nocturne happened to pass by.
Father and daughter both fell silent.
Hank was the first to speak, "Let’s go back, remember what I said."
After speaking, Hank led the way back to the box.
Zoe pouted begrudgingly but was about to follow when, from the corner of her eye, she noticed a girl in a purple historical dress in the first-floor hall.
The girl’s features were inexplicably delicate, her skin fair and crystal clear, with bright eyes and white teeth, impossibly striking.
In a group of women adorning historical costumes, she was almost the standout who could catch anyone’s eye.
At that moment, the girl, for some reason, was smiling at a man while speaking across the girl on her right.
Zoe focused her eyes, wasn’t that the famous actor, Owen Sinclair?
