Chapter 357: Chapter 357: Kneeling
Upon hearing Assistant Lowell say that Rosalind Lynch had been waiting downstairs from day to night, Warren Prescott couldn’t help but feel something.
But it was just that, a feeling.
However, considering they had known each other for so many years, some words still needed to be said all at once to avoid future trouble.
When Warren Prescott pushed the door open, Rosalind Lynch was already waiting in the office.
But she wasn’t sitting and waiting; she stood there, restless and uneasy.
Just the day before yesterday, the Lynch Group declared bankruptcy. After the asset liquidation, Gavin Lynch was deep in debt.
The Lynch family was now selling off their fixed assets, and the whole affair made headlines for a day.
After all, the Lynch Group’s phone explosion incident and the false press conference incident were both huge scandals that even people who didn’t follow the business world were paying attention to.
From that day on, Rosalind Lynch tried to contact Warren Prescott.
But her phone number had been blocked, so she couldn’t get through.
Later, she even changed to a new number to reach Warren Prescott. Once he heard her voice, he hung up and blocked the number again.
Helpless, she had no choice but to come in person.
Even though she knew what the outcome of this visit might be, she had to give it a try.
She was the type who wouldn’t give up until she reached the Yellow River.
What if she succeeded?
Upon hearing the sound of the door opening, Rosalind Lynch immediately looked toward the doorway.
Seeing Warren Prescott, her eyes instantly reddened, a tear hung at the corner of her eye, complementing her simple makeup, making her look indescribably pitiful.
Any other man would find her fragile beauty irresistible, wishing to hold her and care for her tenderly.
However, Warren Prescott looked at her with an expressionless face.
"I heard you’ve waited for me all night. Go ahead, what do you want to say? I’m giving you three minutes."
Rosalind Lynch had thought through what she wanted to say before coming here, but facing Warren Prescott’s cold demeanor, she suddenly couldn’t find the words.
Because she knew Warren Prescott too well; seeing his expression, she could tell he was very impatient.
And when people are impatient, they won’t listen to anything.
Rosalind Lynch bit her lip, choosing not to speak. She kneeled directly in front of Warren Prescott.
This sudden action made Warren Prescott frown immediately.
"What are you doing?"
Rosalind Lynch silently cried as she said, "Warren, I have nothing now... This morning, my dad said if I couldn’t get your forgiveness, he’d kick me out of the house..."
Warren Prescott remained expressionless, "I already helped your family once."
If Gavin Lynch had followed his advice honestly at the press conference without falsifying anything, the Lynch Group could have revived by now, avoiding bankruptcy.
It was their insatiable greed that ultimately devoured Lynch Group like a hulking monster.
Rosalind Lynch knew what he meant, her long lashes fluttered, like a butterfly flapping its wings.
"Back then... I did convey your words to my dad exactly, but I don’t know why... things ended up like that."
"Warren, could you help us one more time, please?"
"Dad’s like a changed person now, and it’s terrifying... I’m really scared."
Warren Prescott remained expressionless.
"The Lynch Group is bankrupt; there’s nothing I can do for you."
Hearing this, Rosalind Lynch crawled forward a few steps, grabbing the hem of Warren Prescott’s pants.
"You can help us, Warren. My dad said their company still has a valuable core technology. If you can buy it, it would solve our urgent problem."
Warren Prescott raised an eyebrow slightly.
"So this is the plan you’re trying to pull."
He stepped back two steps, avoiding Rosalind Lynch touching his pants.
"Warren..."
Seeing him step back, Rosalind Lynch burst into tears.
"With so many years of feelings between us, are you really not willing to help me this once?"
"I’ve loved you since we were kids, saw you as my everything... I really love you! It’s because I loved you too much that I made some mistakes. But now I realize I was wrong. Can’t you forgive me this once?"
Warren Prescott sneered, "Once? The things you did to Ashley, do you think I only know about one or two of them?"
After figuring out what happened at the pool, he meticulously investigated everything Rosalind Lynch had done over the years.
It was indeed one thing after another, countless items.
It was only then he realized how well a person could conceal themselves, and he hadn’t discovered a trace over all those years that Rosalind Lynch was such a malicious and terrifying woman.
So terrifying that even his back felt cold.
Ashley Shaw, just like him, repeated a year.
He had done it because he found out Lars Prescott was cheating shortly before the college entrance exam, leading to him skipping the exam out of spite.
And Ashley Shaw...
Everyone thought she was "redoing a year for love," but after investigation, he discovered she was ill on the day of the entrance exam.
And the reason for her illness was that Rosalind Lynch had given her a bottle of "water" before the exam.
He did remember Ashley Shaw mentioning after the exam that something was wrong with Rosalind Lynch’s "water," hoping he could help check it out.
But what did he say back then?
He said, "A tainted heart sees everything as dirty."
He didn’t know how Ashley Shaw felt hearing that because he walked away soon after speaking.
But whenever he recalled this incident now, he wanted to slap himself hard.
The more Warren Prescott thought back on past events, the more he felt disgusted by the woman in front of him.
As Rosalind Lynch said, they had years of friendship, growing up together, and their families exchanged visits every holiday.
If not for this, he wouldn’t even have agreed to see her today.
But seeing her didn’t mean he’d give her a chance.
He just wanted to use this opportunity to make Rosalind Lynch completely give up.
When Rosalind Lynch heard "do you think I only know about one or two of the things you did to Ashley" she knew today was likely hopeless.
But giving up just like that wasn’t her style.
She straightened her back, still kneeling, staring directly into Warren Prescott’s eyes with her beautiful almond-shaped eyes.
"For what I did to Ashley Shaw, I’m willing to take responsibility. I will find her and apologize for everything..."
Her tone was very sincere, as she continued, "But, Warren, I’m begging you to help me just this once more! I promise this will be the last time."
"If you don’t help me this time, my dad, with his temper, won’t just kick me out of the house. He’d break my legs before doing it..."
Warren Prescott’s eyes showed no sympathy.
Ever since he discovered how well Rosalind Lynch could disguise herself, not even kneeling before him and slapping her own face would stir any emotion in him.
He walked to the door and closed it.
Rosalind Lynch could kneel to him, but even if she didn’t care about saving face, he did.
"Get up and talk," he said.
