Chapter 351: Chapter 351: Xavier Quincy Is Acting Strange
Warren Prescott was on the phone.
On the other end, Assistant Lowell was telling him about the recent situation of the live broadcast.
Leon Zeller refused the show’s offer to treat him, but he made a request, which was to let him rejoin the Stardust Team.
"Leon and the members of the Stardust Team all said that they no longer care about rankings, they just want everyone to be together without missing anyone."
Hearing this, even Assistant Lowell couldn’t help but get a little emotional.
"Mr. Prescott Jr., you have no idea, when they said those words, their team spirit just exploded. Not to mention the audience, even I couldn’t help but want to cry. It was so touching! Now, even if they don’t come in first, they have the highest popularity and the best audience reception."
Warren Prescott, however, showed no emotion.
"It should have been like this from the start, why bother breaking away?"
Assistant Lowell momentarily forgot his status and retorted, "Breaking away was for the Stardust Team, and coming back is also for the Stardust Team. That’s what a captain is, that’s true team spirit."
"I don’t know about any spirit, but if you don’t keep a close eye on Leon, if he does become a spirit, I’ll have to take responsibility too."
Assistant Lowell quickly straightened up: "Yes."
After the call ended, Warren Prescott looked up to see Ashley Shaw walking towards him.
Behind her was a radiant sunset, making her appear as beautiful as a blooming peach blossom.
The desire for her to revert to her old self emerged once again.
Because if she were the way she used to be, maybe no one else would covet her.
She would just be his.
Thinking selfishly in this way, he showed no trace on his face.
He glanced behind Ashley Shaw, somewhat surprised, and asked, "You haven’t left yet?"
"No." Ashley nodded, saying, "You haven’t left either, have you? Why are you coming out so late?"
Warren stood on the steps, looking down at her, and said, "When asking for help, shouldn’t you at least say thank you?"
Ashley quickly understood what he meant and asked, "Did you go to thank the judge?"
"Yes."
"Why didn’t you take us along?"
"Too many eyes watching. Going through the back door isn’t something to brag about."
Ashley glanced around and, seeing no one else was around, lowered her voice to ask, "How much did you give them? Ariana and I can chip in for you."
Warren’s face darkened.
"Am I short of that money?"
"I’m not saying you’re short of money, but this was our issue to begin with. If you don’t accept, neither Ariana nor I would feel right about it."
Warren said expressionlessly, "No matter what you say, it all boils down to the same thing. You don’t see me as one of your own."
"No." Ashley firmly said, "Even if I pay this money, Ariana would still feel uneasy. Matters are matters, and personal favors are personal favors. They can’t be mixed."
Hearing this, Warren’s expression softened a bit.
He truthfully said, "I didn’t pay any money. Those who can hold that position aren’t short of a few bucks."
"Then... what did you give?"
"Face."
"Huh?"
"I used my face. So if he needs anything in the future, selling face to me will work."
Ashley understood.
Essentially, it means owing someone a favor.
The Prescott Family’s favor is more valuable than money.
But because of this, Ashley couldn’t gauge how much she owed Warren.
Her face was full of trouble and hesitance.
Warren seemingly understood her thoughts and said, "Stop calculating how much you owe me. You can’t afford it. If you really want to thank me, then treat me to dinner. I’m hungry."
Upon hearing this, Ashley instantly looked troubled.
She hadn’t thought of an excuse yet, and Warren already noticed something was wrong.
"Got plans?"
"...Yes."
How strange, why did she feel guilty?
Warren stared deeply at her and asked, "Xavier Quincy?"
Using Xavier Quincy’s full name so suddenly, Ashley was momentarily confused.
But there was nothing to hide, so she nodded truthfully, "Yes, Leo said he’s leaving Westcroft soon for work, so I’m going to his farewell."
"Farewell? That’s novel. It’s the first time I’ve heard of a farewell with only one person attending."
He hadn’t received any information, and neither had anyone else, clearly indicating that tonight it was only Ashley and Xavier Quincy.
In the past, Ashley dining alone with Xavier Quincy would be like a brother and sister having a meal, but somehow, with Xavier’s return, Warren felt an unsettling premonition.
"How about we switch it to lunch tomorrow?" Ashley suggested on the fly, "I know a restaurant that’s quite good."
It was the place where Owen Sinclair took her for lunch. She thought Warren, being the gold-spooned heir he was, surely hadn’t been to a restaurant inside a residential building.
"No need." Warren said without much emotion, "I don’t want to be a backup. If we eat, it has to be tonight."
Ashley bit her lip and said, "Tonight doesn’t work, I’ve already promised Leo."
"Then forget it."
Warren said this, walked around her, and left.
After walking several meters, Ashley didn’t call him, so he finally couldn’t resist turning around.
"When tomorrow at noon? I’m very busy, need to plan in advance."
"Eleven thirty?"
Warren’s lips moved slightly, unable to refrain from saying, "When you’re with Xavier Quincy, be careful."
Ashley puzzled, "Be careful of what?"
"Didn’t you hear what was said that day?"
This referred to the time at The Nocturne when Xavier Quincy told Owen Sinclair he liked her.
Ashley remembered that and laughed, "Leo was worried that Uncle Owen was interested in me, so he intentionally said that to test Owen. Didn’t you notice he was probing Owen?"
"Whether he’s probing or not, I don’t care. I’m just telling you, there’s something off about Xavier Quincy."
"What do you mean?"
Warren didn’t know how to explain specifically, he just said, "This time when he returned, he seemed like a changed person. Just keep a close eye, not saying he’ll harm you, but there’s an old saying, better safe than sorry."
After finishing, he turned around to leave.
He initially wanted to give Ashley a ride, but considering he’d be sending her to another man, he couldn’t do it. He feared he’d divert the car elsewhere halfway.
Warren’s car drove off, and as Ashley was about to wait for another taxi, a business car drove up.
The window rolled down, revealing the driver who used to take Ashley and Warren to school.
"Miss Ashley, young master instructed me to take you where you need to go."
Ashley was somewhat surprised.
He seemed angry, yet he still left her a car.
Feeling emotionally complex, she saw a message from Xavier Quincy on her phone.
He was asking if she was ready to leave and if she needed a ride.
Ashley got in the car and called him directly.
"Leo, I’m just heading out now, should be there in about twenty minutes."
"Okay, I’m already here, I’ll wait for you in the private room."
"Alright."
Ashley hung up the phone and gave the address Xavier Quincy sent to the driver.
The destination was a Thai restaurant.
It’s said that people who don’t like cilantro surely don’t like Thai food.
But Ashley doesn’t like cilantro yet loves Tom Yum soup.
This was discovered back when Xavier Quincy took her out for Thai food on one of her birthdays.
She just didn’t expect Xavier Quincy to still remember her taste.
