Chapter 245: Changing Faces

Chapter 245: Chapter 245: Changing Faces

Assistant Lowell observed Warren Prescott’s expression and said, "Is no one answering the phone? Do you want me to go over there now?"

"No need, you stay here, I’ll take a look."

After speaking, he stepped out.

Assistant Lowell suddenly remembered that James Langley was still waiting in the office for Warren Prescott and hurriedly pushed the door open to chase after him.

But when he reached the corridor, Warren Prescott had already disappeared.

"So fast..."

Faster than him.

Assistant Lowell had no choice but to call Warren Prescott.

The call was quickly connected, and Assistant Lowell explained James Langley’s matter. Warren Prescott replied indifferently, "Let him go back first, I have things to attend to."

"Yes..."

After hanging up the phone, Assistant Lowell was about to push the door open to enter Warren Prescott’s office, but the door was opened first by someone inside.

As their eyes met, James Langley spoke first.

"Assistant Lowell, something came up with my daughter, can you please let Mr. Prescott Jr. know that I have to leave and will come to find him next time?"

Assistant Lowell immediately swallowed back the apology he was about to say.

"Then you should hurry and take care of it; it’s just as well Mr. Prescott Jr. is also busy."

"Alright, alright, then I’ll leave first."

James Langley finished speaking and rushed towards the elevator, calling as he walked quickly.

"Chief Sutton, sorry to bother you, I have a matter I need to trouble you with..."

"Hmm? You’re coming in person? That’s great, thank you for taking the trouble, I’m on my way as well."

"Alright, alright, thank you very much. We’ll meet there."

Assistant Lowell caught a snippet of the conversation.

Chief Sutton?

That’s Chief Sutton, isn’t it?

Some time ago with Maeve and Damon Crawford’s affair, he dealt with Chief Sutton.

What’s happening with James Langley that requires Chief Sutton to step in?

But Assistant Lowell didn’t have the spare thought to concern himself with James Langley’s private matters.

He hurried to the public relations department, communicated with Mr. Cheney and asked him to find a way to delete the post with photos of pastoral songs and Ashley Shaw.

Mr. Cheney, like an old dog, immediately picked up the gist.

"Who’s this young lady? Is she acquainted with our Mr. Prescott Jr.?"

Assistant Lowell’s gaze was nailed onto Mr. Cheney.

"Don’t inquire about things you shouldn’t. How many lives do you have? Just do what you’re told."

Mr. Cheney also came from The Prescott Group’s headquarters and frequently dealt with major media. Deleting a post was just a matter of making a phone call.

The post was quickly deleted, and Assistant Lowell finally breathed a small sigh of relief.

He had done everything he could, now just waiting for Mr. Prescott Jr. to resolve it himself.

...

Elsewhere.

Claire Xavier was bustling about at the hospital, her phone dying from the usage.

And at Pastoral Songs, Ashley Shaw didn’t receive Warren Prescott’s call because her phone was set to silent due to work, and with the police officers arriving, she hadn’t had the time to check her phone.

Two officers had come.

She, as a representative and as a victim, explained the whole sequence of events in the simplest and most understandable terms.

The officers nodded.

However, they couldn’t just listen to one side, and they also questioned Sean Langley, who first started the violence.

This girl was quite bold, directly admitting that she was the one who started the fight, looking rather unapologetic.

But the other girls, seeing the police uniform, each one became scared, losing their initial arrogance.

The officers looked sternly towards Sean Langley.

"You’re beating people just to chase stars, and now you don’t even know how to regret?"

"Regret? There’s no such word in my dictionary!"

Sean Langley raised her chin defiantly.

The people at Pastoral Songs exchanged glances, reading the word "idiot" in each other’s eyes.

"Then you’ll have to come with us! If your parents didn’t teach you how to be a person properly, we will!"

Sean Langley crossed her arms.

"You’re going to replace my parents to teach me how to be a person? You’re not qualified. Do you know who my father is? My father is James Langley!"

The officers were speechless.

One said, "Even if your father were Miles Langley, we would teach you how to behave properly! Come with us!"

But there were seven people causing trouble, including Sean Langley, so one police car couldn’t fit them all at once, and the officers called the station to send two more cars over.

Seeing they were really going to take her away, Sean Langley began to panic.

"My dad is James Langley, don’t you know?"

"You can’t take me away! My dad will cause trouble for you! You mess with me, you’re dead!"

"If you still want to keep working in this industry, then let us go immediately!"

The two officers simply ignored Sean Langley.

The people at Pastoral Songs all sighed in relief.

A store clerk softly said, "I told you, the world still makes sense."

But not long after this was said, a man in a suit suddenly walked into the store.

Sean Langley’s eyes lit up instantly.

"Wright, quickly tell my dad they’re trying to take me to the police station!"

Wright was indeed her bodyguard, and under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t appear in her line of sight.

Wright first called her "Miss Langley," then said, "I saw police cars coming and have already called the sir, who should be on his way now."

Sean Langley felt emboldened immediately, her previous panic disappeared.

She raised her chin again, gazing disdainfully at Ashley Shaw and the police officers, "You, and you, all of you are doomed!"

The officers frowned and looked at the man called Wright.

"And who are you to her?"

"I’m Miss Langley’s bodyguard, I kindly ask you two to wait a moment, the sir will soon be here."

The two officers exchanged a glance.

Before they could speak, one of them suddenly received a phone call.

He glanced at the caller ID, his expression slightly changing, and walked out of the store with the phone.

Ashley Shaw looked at the bodyguard, a faint unease rising in her heart.

Could a settled situation still change?

Soon, the officer who went to take the call returned.

Before Ashley Shaw could speak, the officer stated that they were suspected of unlawful detention, and they all needed to go to the police station.

"Us?" The deputy manager pointed to his nose incredulously.

"You must be mistaken?" Another store clerk asked.

The officer’s face showed a touch of helplessness but he nodded, "Yes, I’m not mistaken, it’s all of you."

"No, but..."

The other officer was about to ask questions, but his partner gave him a meaningful look.

He immediately understood and followed his partner’s lead, "Sorry, once the other two police cars arrive, would you please come with us."

Ashley Shaw frowned deeply.

A decision that was already made actually got muddled by a phone call.

Sean Langley leisurely walked forward, looking imperiously at the two officers.

"What did I just say? I’m someone you can’t afford to mess with!"

The officers’ eyes showed restraint.

But they couldn’t ignore orders from above.

Especially since the person who called was the top leader.

All they could do was offer an apology.

"Miss Langley, we made a mistake earlier, we’re truly sorry."
