Chapter 241: You Can’t Afford to Mess with My Status

Chapter 241: Chapter 241: You Can’t Afford to Mess with My Status

Business at Pastoral Bakery isn’t as good as when it first opened, so the store started making breakfast bread.

From eight to nine-thirty in the morning is peak time for buying bread.

Everyone was already busy, but with Ashley Shaw, who’s quick with her hands, helping out, they managed to keep up, even having time to take a sip of water.

"It’s a good thing you came today, or else these clumsy people would’ve been in chaos again," the assistant manager said.

"Was it very chaotic yesterday?"

"Not just chaotic, it was extremely chaotic."

Ashley Shaw laughed, "Call me anytime it gets busy, I have time before school starts."

The assistant manager nodded and asked her, "When are you planning to go to Aethelgard?"

"Next week."

"So soon?"

"Yeah, it was originally scheduled for next week."

Next week, Ariana Grant’s house is going to court, and barring any surprises, the house will finally go to Ariana Grant.

This matter settled, they planned to head to Aethelgard in advance.

"So soon, I was thinking..." the assistant manager sighed another sentence.

Ashley Shaw didn’t catch the second half and turned to ask, "What did you say?"

"Nothing..." The assistant manager lightly tugged at the corner of their lips, a trace of melancholy in their eyes.

What shouldn’t be said, better left unsaid.

At this moment, Claire Xavier’s call came through.

Ashley Shaw’s eyes lit up, she told the assistant manager, "I’m going to take a call," and walked out with the phone.

As soon as the call connected, Ashley Shaw immediately said, "Ms. Grant, where are you now? You didn’t reply to the message I sent yesterday. I didn’t dare disturb you, so I didn’t call."

There was silence on the other end for a few seconds.

Ashley Shaw thought maybe she had lowered the volume button and was about to check the volume when she heard Claire Xavier say, "Ashley, there’s a bit of trouble with Ivy Bond’s case."

Ashley Shaw was stunned for a moment and asked, "What’s the matter? Is the concussion very serious?"

"It’s not about the concussion, ugh..."

Claire Xavier sighed and explained everything.

It turns out that after going to the hospital yesterday, the initial diagnosis given by the doctor was also a concussion.

But the Xaviers weren’t very reassured, so they had the doctor arrange a comprehensive check-up costing over ten thousand.

Some tests require fasting, and the results came out this morning, with a preliminary diagnosis of a brain tumor.

Upon hearing the words "brain tumor," Ashley Shaw was shocked.

"Huh? Brain tumor?"

"Yes, sigh! In a way, this fall was a blessing in disguise. It was discovered early, otherwise who knows when it would’ve been found. It’s a small fortune in an unfortunate situation."

"Hmm, so... how is she now?"

"We haven’t dared to tell her yet, but we’ve already informed her parents. They will tell her themselves when the time comes."

"Hmm, then don’t tell her yet. After that... where do you plan to have treatment?"

"Most likely at Aethelgard General Hospital, as they have more brain specialists and are more authoritative."

Claire Xavier paused, then said, "About Archie, you don’t need to talk to him for now. With Ivy Bond diagnosed with this, she certainly won’t be able to study abroad, so Archie won’t be going for now either."

Ashley Shaw said, "Alright," then continued, "In the meantime, just focus on what you need to do. I can watch over the store."

"You’re at the store?"

"Yes, I rode my scooter here this morning and helped out a bit."

Ashley Shaw mentioned that because Claire Xavier hadn’t come to the store in the past two days, everyone was a bit skeptical.

Claire Xavier said, "Help me let everyone know that I’ve been delayed by some personal matters, but the store will continue to operate, no one will lose their job."

"Okay!"

Ashley Shaw still wanted to ask more about Ivy Bond’s situation when a group of uniquely styled girls suddenly approached her.

One of the girls with curly hair walked straight up to her.

"Are you Ashley Shaw?"

Ashley Shaw said to Claire Xavier on the phone, "I’m busy now, contact you later," and then hung up. Facing the girl’s questioning eyes, she said, "I am, what’s up?"

The next second, the girl reached out to grab her hair.

"Ah—"

Ashley Shaw cried out in pain and quickly went to grab the girl’s hand.

"Who are you? Let go!"

"Who are we? We’re your daddy!" The girl pulled even harder.

Seeing she couldn’t break free from the girl’s grip, Ashley Shaw decided to yank on the girl’s hair just as forcefully.

"Ah!!!"

The girl screamed in pain and then shouted, "What are you standing around for? Help me!"

The group of girls who came with her snapped back to reality and quickly restrained Ashley Shaw’s hands.

"Filthy vixen! Flirting with my male idol! Just a lousy worker, don’t you look in the mirror and see if you’re worthy of my idol?"

The curly-haired girl raised her hand to slap Ashley Shaw.

Even though Ashley Shaw’s hands were restrained, her feet were still free.

Seeing the girl about to slap her, she lifted her foot and kicked the girl’s stomach hard.

This kick showed no mercy.

"Ugh—"

The curly-haired girl clutched her stomach in pain, her face turning grim, taking more than half a minute to recover her strength.

"Bitch! Dare to kick me? Do you know who I am? You’re looking for death!!"

The girl’s eyes reddened in fury as she charged again.

But this time she was cautious, avoiding Ashley Shaw’s kicks.

Just as she was about to make a move, someone burst out from the store; it was the delivery guy from Pastoral Bakery.

Seeing the situation, he shouted for help and rushed over.

The store employees, hearing about Ashley Shaw’s trouble, quickly followed behind him.

"What’s going on here?"

"Grab her, grab them!"

With help, Ashley Shaw quickly broke free from the restraint.

Of the store’s employees, only one was a girl, while the others were robust young men.

With equal numbers, Ashley Shaw’s side quickly gained the upper hand, and soon had those troublemaking girls under control.

"Ashley! Are you alright?" the female store employee asked with concern.

Ashley Shaw shook her head and said, "I’m okay."

She really wasn’t hurt much, just lost a few hairs, and her scalp stung a bit.

But thanks to that kick of hers.

If she had kicked a moment later, she wouldn’t have fared as well when the girl slapped.

The girl had a ring and long, diamond-studded nails which would’ve definitely left marks on her face.

Still, she didn’t understand why these people attacked her.

Ashley Shaw walked over to the curly-haired girl who started the fight, her face cold.

"Who are you? Why did you cause trouble?"

The girl tried to break free from two male employees holding her, but she was no match for the two strong men.

Especially since one of them was the assistant manager.

The assistant manager worked out regularly, with eight-pack abs and strong muscles; how could the girl escape his grip?

He glared at the girl and squeezed out a word, "Answer!"

The assistant manager had a gentle nature but looked rather intimidating, especially when not smiling, which made people scared without reason.

His current look appeared ready to devour someone.

The curly-haired girl was clearly frightened, her lips quivered as she said, "My, my identity is not someone you can mess with! Let me go!"
