Chapter 189: You’re So Ungrateful

Chapter 189: Chapter 189: You’re So Ungrateful

Ariana Grant looked down at her hand wrapped in thick bandages.

Whether it’s a blessing or a curse, she couldn’t tell now.

But there was one thing she was very certain about.

That is, if her mother obtained this house, it would definitely become a "Hayes" house in the future.

And it wouldn’t have anything to do with her, the daughter.

Because through these recent events, she completely realized that in Jade Coleman’s heart, Hailey Hayes was more important than her own daughter.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have beaten her up like this just because she refused to plead with Ashley Shaw for Kevin Hayes and Hailey.

So, after a moment of silence, Ariana Grant said, "You’re right, the house is the most important thing to me now."

At this moment, Warren Prescott’s phone rang.

It was a call from Claudia Jennings, reminding him not to forget to buy medicine for Elder Prescott.

Actually, buying medicine was something the servants could do, but when it came to Elder Prescott, it was an act of filial piety, so it was always the Prescott Family themselves who bought it.

"It’s already been bought," Warren said.

Claudia Jennings said "oh" and then mentioned, "Come home for dinner tonight, there’s a guest."

"Who?"

"Rosalind."

Warren furrowed his brows and said, "No time, just eat by yourselves."

After speaking, he hung up the phone directly.

Ashley Shaw, guessing that he was speaking with Claudia Jennings, said, "Thank you today, we’ll head back now."

"I’ll go with you."

Before Ashley Shaw could say anything, he added, "The police will come over, it’s better if I’m there to introduce you."

Ashley Shaw swallowed back her words of polite refusal and said, "Thank you."

...

Returning with Warren Prescott, naturally, they took his car.

Assistant Mark was driving, and seeing Ashley Shaw get in the car, he turned his head and smiled, "Miss Shaw, the reflection has been sent to your email, have you seen it? If it’s not well-written, I can rewrite it."

Assistant Mark was clearly saying this for Warren Prescott to hear.

But Ashley Shaw had a good impression of Assistant Mark and was happy to help him, so she said, "It’s written well, very sincere, there’s no need to rewrite it. This matter wasn’t really related to you anyway."

Assistant Mark gave a grateful look at Ashley Shaw, thanking her for her cooperation.

He was about to say a few more words when Warren Prescott opened his mouth with a cold voice, "If you’re acting for me, there’s no need, I don’t like watching dramas."

Both faces showed embarrassment.

Ariana Grant didn’t know what was going on and threw Ashley Shaw a questioning glance.

Ashley Shaw lightly shook her head to indicate it wasn’t convenient to talk now.

However, regarding Assistant Mark, Ashley Shaw wasn’t worried.

In the past life, Assistant Mark had become Warren Prescott’s confidant, which was enough to prove Warren Prescott’s satisfaction with him, and surely Assistant Mark also had his own exceptional qualities.

With these advantages, he certainly wouldn’t be implicated because of herself or Ariana Grant.

But along the way, Warren Prescott’s phone kept vibrating.

Ashley Shaw’s gaze unintentionally swept over and saw that it was Claudia Jennings calling.

It was certain that Claudia Jennings called not only to ask him to buy medicine but probably to ask him to come home for dinner, so Warren said he had no time.

Ashley Shaw thought about it and felt it must be like that.

But was Warren saying "no time" because of her and Ariana Grant?

Was it because he wanted to help them with the police officers that he said he had no time?

But Ashley Shaw quickly dismissed the thought.

Who did she think she was?

She was fully aware of how she weighed in Warren Prescott’s heart compared to Claudia Jennings.

She was overthinking.

Warren must have had other matters.

Thinking of this, just before getting out of the car, Ashley Shaw said, "If you have other matters to attend to, you don’t have to stay with us."

Warren said nothing, getting out of the car directly.

Assistant Mark couldn’t even open the car door for Warren in time before he was already walking towards the entrance.

Ashley Shaw was about to get out when Ariana Grant tugged at her sleeve.

"Don’t you see the Eldest Young Master Prescott is angry?"

"He’s angry? Why?"

Ariana Grant gave her a "How can you be so dense?" look, whispering, "Think about it, if you sincerely wanted to help someone, but that person kept refusing you or even pushed you away, what would you think?"

"That person doesn’t need my help and can handle it themselves?"

"Wrong! So very wrong! Most people would think, does the other person dislike me so much that they reject even my help? So your words earlier were somewhat ungrateful."

Ashley Shaw looked aggrieved.

"I just didn’t want to delay his matters."

"Well, from my view, it seemed ungrateful."

"I..."

"Alright, alright, I can’t explain it to you right now, let’s just get out first. Remember, now that he’s here, don’t refuse his kindness anymore."

Ashley Shaw was deep in thought, feeling like she’d learned a lesson from a past mistake.

Who knew whether Warren’s intentions were truly good or part of a bigger scheme?

Ashley Shaw shook her head, trying to clear these messy thoughts.

After all, she’s not dim-witted; if Warren intended to cause trouble, she would notice and could stop him in time.

With this in mind, she felt safer, bent to get out of the car, and saw Warren standing at the unit door talking with Damian Ford.

The two seemed to be discussing something, as Warren furrowed his brows and looked her way.

"It seems like they’re talking about you," Ariana Grant said.

Seeing it herself too, Ashley Shaw walked up and asked, "What’s going on?"

"Nothing much, Miss Shaw." Damian Ford chuckled politely, "I was just telling Warren about the time you almost fell down the stairs."

Ashley Shaw felt a sudden skip in her heart, and the next moment, she saw Ariana Grant’s eyes widen, asking, "When was this?"

Damian Ford replied even faster than she did, immediately describing the scene of Ashley toppling forward when she stood up while squatting on the stairs.

He had a way with words, making it sound as though she’d narrowly escaped death.

Ariana Grant’s eyes went red hearing this.

"No wonder you came in so fast, you were waiting upstairs the whole time."

Ashley Shaw laughed and patted Ariana’s chubby cheek.

"Don’t cry, you look ugly when you cry, you know that?"

Ariana Grant glared at her in mock anger, but her affection for Ashley took another deep turn.

"Are we heading up or not?" Warren’s annoyed voice rang out.

"Yes," Ashley replied, pulling Ariana up the stairs.

Warren, however, didn’t immediately follow but turned to Damian Ford, "For today, I owe you a favor, I’ll remember it."

Damian Ford was taken aback, filled with excitement and a bit of fear.

"Warren, you shouldn’t say that, it was what I should do. Didn’t I upset Miss Shaw last time? Consider this making up for it."

"One thing doesn’t replace another. You may go."

"Okay, if you need anything, just call me."

Damian Ford said and walked away cheerfully.

It was worth it, today was truly worth it!
