Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Stunning Everyone
The girl who used to look just a bit shy suddenly put on a bright red dress, and her demeanor changed dramatically, like today’s weather, becoming bold and flamboyant.
This hint of red, like a blossom in winter, amazed everyone at the scene with its stunning brilliance.
When Ashley Shaw used to dress simply and plainly, nobody noticed what she actually looked like.
She was so quiet and reserved in the shop that she almost had no presence at all.
But now, as everyone seriously studied her, they realized this young girl was actually very beautiful; she just hid her brilliance.
Yet a pearl is a pearl, and when the dust is wiped clean, it will shine brightly.
The boys in the shop were staring.
Previously, they hadn’t realized that besides Ms. Grant, there was another great beauty in the shop.
The deputy manager and pastry chef, who had suggested Ashley might catch a cold, rubbed his eyes hard, then exclaimed, "Wow."
Unlike others, he actually knew Ashley was quite pretty, even if this young girl hadn’t blossomed fully.
But when she truly changed out of those plain, ordinary clothes, took off those thick black-framed glasses, and put on Ms. Grant’s bright red dress, he was amazed.
Feeling a bit embarrassed under everyone’s gaze, Ashley Shaw looked around.
In her previous life as a housewife for a long time, and now as a somewhat dowdy student, she hadn’t been stared at by so many eyes for a while.
"Ah!"
She coughed awkwardly, found a topic, and asked, "Are there any orders left to run?"
"No, no, no, just come over and drink some ginger tea first."
"Yeah, Shaw, don’t catch a cold."
The boys scrambled to show their concern, much to the disdain of the girls in the shop.
"Look at you! How come you didn’t care about Shaw before? Shaw, don’t pay attention to them!"
Ashley Shaw smiled, about to speak, when Claire Xavier came out from the kitchen.
"What are you all doing? I’m swamped in there, hurry up and go in..."
Her words stopped abruptly upon seeing Ashley Shaw.
Her eyes showed a hint of astonishment, followed by an expression of "Oh, I see."
No wonder her brother cared so much about this little girl, calling three times a day yet never showed up at the shop.
This young girl’s a rough diamond, and no one noticed.
Undeniably, her brother does have some insight.
"The dress suits you well."
"Thank you, Ms. Xavier, I’ll return it once my clothes are dry and cleaned."
"No need; it’s kept in the shop as a spare anyway. You wear it better than I do."
She’s flat-chested, but Ashley Shaw... although young, she wasn’t lacking where she should be big.
Only on Ashley Shaw does this dress truly display its worth.
"I’d better give it back; I’m not used to wearing skirts."
"I said it’s yours, so it’s yours, no more words on it."
Claire Xavier spoke, noticing Ashley Shaw was about to put the thick black-framed glasses back on, she quickly grabbed her hand.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
Ashley Shaw replied, perplexed, "Putting on glasses."
"How nearsighted are you?"
"200 degrees."
Claire Xavier clapped her hands: "Perfect, wait for me."
She went into the rest room.
Upon returning, Claire Xavier had two contact lenses in her hand.
"I’m exactly 200 degrees too; use these and throw your crappy glasses away."
"..."
"Listen, the delivery personnel’s image directly affects our shop’s image, and you’ll need to pay more attention to your appearance from now on."
Not giving Ashley Shaw the chance to refuse, Claire Xavier added, "Every time you dress up well when you come, I’ll increase 5 bucks per delivery."
The male delivery boy next to Ashley Shaw gasped and pointed to his nose.
"What about me, Ms. Xavier?"
Claire Xavier looked disdainfully at the acne-covered, scruffy male.
"You?"
"Yeah, yeah!"
"You wear a mask for deliveries, and you get an extra 5 bucks per delivery too."
"..."
Should he be happy or cry?
Meanwhile, Ashley Shaw didn’t stoop for bread, but she put on the contact lenses for 5 bucks.
Claire Xavier’s used premium products, and the contacts felt moisturizing, not uncomfortable.
"Okay." Claire Xavier clapped her hands and examined Ashley Shaw with satisfaction.
Ashley Shaw wore a red dress, her hair casually tied, making her naturally superior skull look even prettier.
She shed those old-fashioned black frames and wore a pair of more eye-catching contact lenses, resembling a noble, cool swan.
"With this look, our store’s turnover next week will definitely double!"
Ashley Shaw felt Claire Xavier was exaggerating a bit.
Had she truly been that pretty, how could she have failed to warm a man’s heart in her previous life?
Nonetheless, facing Claire Xavier’s compliment, Ashley Shaw sincerely thanked her.
"Thank you, Ms. Xavier."
"Alright, take a break first, and the rest of you come to the kitchen with me to work on this big order. After completing this, I’ll treat everyone to something good tonight."
Everyone cheered and became excited.
Initially, everyone thought Claire Xavier opened the shop just for fun, but after observing for a while, they found she genuinely cared a lot about it, treating it like her child, inevitably infecting others too.
While everyone headed to the kitchen, Claire Xavier quietly took a picture of Ashley Shaw.
The angle of the picture was poor, but it didn’t affect the girl’s beauty at all.
Wow, she’s stunning enough to make people envious.
The person herself didn’t even think she was that pretty.
This kind of pretty but unaware girl has almost a deadly appeal to men.
Claire Xavier admired the photo and then clicked to send.
...
"Ding dong."
The message alert sounded.
Cillian Xavier glanced at the phone and turned off the screen when Warren Prescott turned around.
Warren Prescott seemed to notice something.
"What are you looking at?"
"Nothing," Cillian Xavier smiled and placed the cue on the pool table.
The cue ball shot out, cleanly pocketing a ball.
He straightened up, casually asking, "Are you not going to the Lynch Family’s party this afternoon?"
Warren Prescott said indifferently, "Who said I’m not going? The Lynch Family is the Lynch Family, Rosalind Lynch is Rosalind Lynch."
"Then why check the movie theater surveillance?"
Warren Prescott abruptly looked at Cillian Xavier, sharpness in his eyes.
Cillian Xavier held up his hands: "I didn’t mean to pry; coincidentally, our family owns that theater."
Warren Prescott withdrew his gaze expressionlessly.
Cillian Xavier just laughed.
"Why check the surveillance afterward if you didn’t believe her then?"
Warren Prescott turned his eyes away.
"It’s not that I didn’t believe her."
"Haha," Cillian Xavier chuckled dryly, putting the cue aside, "Just don’t rub salt in the wound of those already hurt. Warren, you said once, if you cared about her, you would stand on your head and shit."
