Chapter 100: Chapter 100: I Don’t Blame Him
Ashley Shaw’s hair fluttered as Warren Prescott moved away.
When she looked back at Rosalind Lynch, the men who had chased them earlier had already been kicked away by Warren, one by one.
Warren had been trained seriously; these men were all show and no substance, older in age, and definitely not his match.
Rosalind Lynch, both surprised and excited, hugged Warren’s arm.
"Warren... how come you’re here? Thank goodness you’re here, otherwise I... sob sob sob..."
Rosalind cried like a pear blossom in rain, her body visibly trembling.
Just as Warren was about to speak, those men had already scrambled up from the ground.
"What the hell? You dare fight us? Do you know who we are?"
"Someone! We need help here!" Another man rushed into their private room to call for people.
With his shout, seven or eight people dressed like bodyguards quickly poured out from inside.
These guys even brought reinforcements.
Even if Ashley disliked Rosalind, no matter how reluctant she was to help Warren, she wouldn’t stand by and watch them die.
Seeing the situation go awry, she quickly opened the door to her own private room and rushed inside.
"Grandpa Prescott, there’s trouble. Did you bring any bodyguards with you?"
Elder Prescott’s face changed immediately as he quickly stepped outside.
Claire Xavier and others also followed hastily.
When Ashley re-emerged from the private room, she saw that the corridor was suddenly filled with many "Mic King" security personnel.
The men from the private room were all subdued on the ground, every single one of them.
Ashley was perplexed until she saw Elder Prescott slap his own forehead.
"What a scare! I almost forgot, this is our territory."
There were often fights at Mic King. The manager had already seen Rosalind running out from the private room via surveillance.
Initially, he didn’t want to meddle, but upon a closer look, another person stood in the footage; wasn’t that their young master?
So he immediately called everyone via the walkie-talkie.
They managed to arrive just in time, intercepting the reinforcements those troublemakers called from their private room.
And just like that, they subdued them swiftly and efficiently.
"Are you okay?" Elder Prescott asked as he approached Warren, looking at Rosalind.
Rosalind looked slightly shocked, clearly not expecting Elder Prescott to be here.
She quickly shook her head, "I’m fine..."
"What happened?" Warren asked.
He was asking why Rosalind was here alone and what led to this confrontation with these people.
Rosalind’s eyes filled with tears, and a crystal drop slowly slid down.
The sight of a beauty crying could move anyone.
But Warren’s face remained expressionless as he repeated the question: "What’s with these people?"
Rosalind sobbed as she explained, "My father sent me here. He said they could..."
Through her halting yet straightforward explanation, everyone understood what happened.
Rosalind’s father, Gavin Lynch, actually sent his daughter to drink with a group of middle-aged men.
The reason being that someone in this group was responsible for the security of Lynch Group’s new phone model.
Whether or not this person had the final say was unclear, but even if they could help Lynch Group overcome this issue with a decisive word, generally, no one would ask their own daughter to drink with several middle-aged men.
Calling it just drinking, anyone with a little societal experience knows what that implies.
Rosalind continued crying, her voice choking, "I-I didn’t want to come. I said I didn’t want to... But my dad said that this was a mess I made, so I should fix it. If I didn’t come, he’d pretend I didn’t exist in the Lynch Family. Luckily, I happened to run into you all, or I really wouldn’t know what I would’ve faced..."
Hearing this, everyone present couldn’t help but feel touched.
Ashley Shaw glanced at Warren’s expression.
She saw his dashing brows furrowed, a clear displeasure on his face.
She couldn’t quite place what she was feeling but knew her mood wasn’t great.
She believed Rosalind’s words.
But she didn’t believe that meeting them was just a coincidence.
After several encounters, if she believed it was all just happenstance, she’d be a fool!
"It’s over," Elder Prescott spoke first, "The company’s matters have nothing to do with you. Go home now, and don’t go out again for a while."
Rosalind immediately wore a fearful expression.
"I can’t go home... If father finds out, he’ll kill me!"
"I’ll ask Warren to accompany you home."
Rosalind cautiously looked at Warren, waiting for his response.
Warren simply said, "I’ll take her home then, and have Mr. Coleman come back for you later."
"Okay, take her home first; I’ll stay here."
Warren nodded and said to Rosalind, "Let’s go."
Rosalind looked grateful, bowed to Elder Prescott, and quickly followed Warren.
Afterward, Elder Prescott asked Ashley and the others to return to the private room first.
But once everyone got back to the private room, no one felt like singing anymore, so they turned off the music and started chatting.
Some voiced their sympathy for Rosalind.
"Even a tiger doesn’t eat its cubs. To think there could be such a father!"
"Ahem!" Someone lightly cleared their throat.
That person immediately realized that Rosalind and Ashley had clashed before.
Ashley smiled faintly, "It’s okay, don’t mind me. We’ve reconciled our issues, it’s all in the past."
Seeing that she really didn’t mind, everyone relaxed and continued their lively discussion.
"Ashley."
Claire Xavier sat beside her, taking advantage of the intense discussion when no one was paying attention, and spoke up, "There’s something I’ve held inside for two days. I’ve been thinking and thinking, and I have to tell you."
Ashley nodded, "Go ahead, I’m listening."
Claire lowered her voice and began, "Archie told me that he got your study abroad application from Rosalind."
Ashley’s expression froze momentarily, then she smiled, "I wondered what it was, and it’s about this? Don’t worry, I’ve long forgotten about it. If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have remembered."
Claire clearly felt that Ashley was forcing a smile.
She took Ashley’s hand and placed it on her lap.
"Ashley, no matter what, it was Archie’s mistake. When I found out, I slapped him right across the face."
Ashley looked shocked, her eyes widening.
Claire continued, "It’s a good thing my slap seemed to wake him up. He realized he hadn’t thought it through and nearly put you in a dangerous situation... But as his sister, I know he meant no harm."
Ashley nodded, "I know, so I don’t blame him."
"I know you’re a sharp kid, but regardless, I have to apologize to you on his behalf. I’m sorry, Ashley."
Just as Ashley was about to speak, the door to the private room abruptly opened.
