Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Love Letter Revealed
Is Warren Prescott using such petty and childish tactics to get revenge on her?
Just because she was in a hurry and ruined his pool game with friends at the billiard hall?
Simply over a game with friends, does he want to ruin her future?
Ashley Shaw’s hands began to tremble uncontrollably.
She could hear the voice of the class teacher, speaking officially.
"This is a very important decision in high school; since your guardian has signed to forbid it, you cannot transfer classes unless you convince him first."
"Of course, the teacher also doesn’t think it’s a good decision for you to switch from arts to sciences now."
Ashley Shaw’s fingers slowly curled up into a fist.
"I understand, teacher, I will convince him."
After speaking, she turned around and left the office, quickly heading back to the classroom.
It was still early, and there were only a few classmates scattered in the classroom.
Ashley Shaw immediately spotted Warren Prescott in the last row of the classroom.
He was wearing headphones, his left hand casually hanging over the back of his chair, his long legs resting on the desk like he owned the place, with the tips of his shoes nudging her chair.
One after another, gently kicking.
Her chair swayed slowly back and forth with his foot.
Seeing him so defiant and unruly, Ashley Shaw suddenly felt her anger surging uncontrollably.
She walked over and yanked the headphones from his ear.
Warren Prescott opened his dark eyes calmly.
"Well, look who’s here, the lying genius?"
Ashley Shaw’s rage had reached its peak.
She threw the application form right in his face, ignoring the surprised expressions of other classmates, and yelled like a lunatic, "Warren Prescott, why are you doing this!"
Warren Prescott pulled the application off his face, a smile that begged to be punched on his face.
"I’m a fair person; how others treat me is how I treat them."
"Didn’t you want to transfer to the science class?"
"I., absolutely, won’t., let., you., have., your., way."
"Whatever you want to do in the future, I will..."
Whap—
The crisp sound of a slap made the already quiet classroom dead silent.
The smile on Warren Prescott’s face gradually faded away.
"Ashley Shaw, do you know what you’re doing?"
She slapped him.
Twice.
Ashley Shaw’s eyes were bloodshot.
"What exactly... do I have to do for you to let me go?"
What does she have to do to live a life free from Warren Prescott’s participation?
Ashley Shaw, known for crying easily, was holding back well this time.
She would not cry over Warren Prescott anymore.
Warren Prescott frowned slightly.
"Shouldn’t I be asking you that? What do you have to do to let me go and leave my family alone?"
"I will leave."
"?"
"Once the college entrance exams are over, I guarantee you won’t see me again. Does that satisfy you?"
Warren Prescott raised an eyebrow.
"Are you sure? Your mother traded her life for this."
"Don’t mention my mother, you’re not worthy."
"Heh heh."
Warren Prescott let out a couple of muffled laughs, slowly retracted his legs, and took a piece of white paper out of the drawer.
"Words have no proof."
Ashley Shaw snatched the paper away, returned to her seat, and wrote down what she just said.
She wrote with such force that the paper was nearly torn.
"Does this satisfy you?"
Warren Prescott glanced at the words on the paper and raised his eyebrows slightly.
"Alright. Sign and seal it, with no chance of backing out."
"Don’t worry, I will never regret it!"
"Fine." Warren Prescott stood up, towering over her with an imposing air.
"Pack up your things and get ready to get out of our class."
With these words, he stepped out of the rear door of the classroom.
In less than two minutes, the class teacher arrived.
She could finally transfer to the science class.
Ashley Shaw didn’t even finish a single morning reading class before she was carrying her heavy desk over to the science class herself.
Ariana Grant offered to help but was refused.
"Ariana, study hard; we’ll still be together at university."
Ariana Grant’s eyes were slightly red as she nodded vigorously, "Mm!"
Ten minutes later, Ashley Shaw finally sat in the second science class’s classroom.
Her seat was in the last row, with a desk all to herself.
Everyone stared at her as if she were a strange creature.
But Ashley Shaw didn’t care at all; she just kept her head down, seriously reading early.
One early reading class finished, and as soon as the supervising teacher left, the classroom became instantly quiet.
Yet Ashley Shaw didn’t stop and continued silent reading.
Just then, a girl walked up to the podium.
"Hey, everyone, I’m going to read something interesting to you all."
Ashley Shaw didn’t lift her head; she kept reading.
Unlike her classmates, she had no parents and no support she could rely on, so she could only rely on herself.
But the girl’s voice drilled its way into her eardrums forcefully.
"Warren Prescott, I like you."
"From the first time we met, I liked you."
Ashley Shaw couldn’t help but lift her head, admiring the girl’s boldness.
Confessing your feelings in front of so many people takes a lot of courage, right?
But when she looked towards the podium, she saw the girl also looking at her.
Their eyes met, and there was a vague sense of foreboding in Ashley Shaw’s heart.
The girl gave her a meaningful look before she continued reading the letter.
"I know you don’t like me, but I still want to muster up the courage to try."
"Can you occasionally look back at me?"
"Fairy tales always end with the prince and princess living happily together."
"I don’t know if I have the qualifications to become a princess..."
Ashley Shaw’s eyes suddenly widened.
Wait a minute, why does this letter sound so familiar?
Her mind worked rapidly, and suddenly she remembered—this was the love letter she wrote!
Having gone through two lives, she had forgotten all about writing a love letter to Warren Prescott.
But the line, "I don’t know if I have the qualifications to become a princess," was still deep in her memory.
"Signed, Ashley Shaw."
The girl raised her voice.
The classmates who had been making fun shifted their gaze instantly to the back row, towards Ashley Shaw.
The girl on the podium covered her mouth and laughed.
"Princess Shaw, why did you abandon your white horse prince and come to our class?"
"Yeah, princess, don’t you want your prince anymore?"
" Princess Shaw, we’ll call you that from now on."
"Shameless. Aren’t you the daughter of the servant at Warren’s house, dreaming of a toad eating swan meat?"
"What nonsense! Daydreaming clearly!"
The girl listened to the classmates’ comments, curling her lips maliciously.
"Ashley Shaw, can you guess where I found the love letter? In the school trash can."
After speaking, the girl waited for Ashley Shaw to break down.
The secret sentiments of a girl being publicly read out were tantamount to public embarrassment.
However—
A second, two seconds, three seconds passed.
She only saw Ashley Shaw’s expression changing briefly before she suddenly let out a laugh.
The girl’s eyebrows instantly furrowed.
"Why are you laughing?"
Ariana Grant arrived at the classroom door at this moment.
Unaware of what had happened, she waved to Ashley Shaw.
"Ashley, want to go to the convenience store?"
Ashley Shaw nodded and walked up to the podium.
As she passed the girl, she spoke out loud enough for the entire class to hear: "Well, I didn’t realize, classmate, you have a habit of rummaging through trash cans?"
