Chapter 417: Chapter 417: Jealousy
Owen Sinclair could tell that Warren Prescott cared a lot about Ashley Shaw, but he wasn’t sure what Ashley’s attitude toward him was.
So he couldn’t resist bringing it up.
Even if Lars Prescott had told him not to tell anyone about Warren "running away from home."
But Ashley Shaw wasn’t "anyone," she was the only "one of their own."
She was his own flesh and blood.
Yet judging by Ashley Shaw’s reaction, it seemed she already knew.
Observing Ashley’s expression, there was an unmistakable worry on her face.
Could it be that these two kids...
Owen had his suspicions. He considered himself an open-minded person, especially having gone through being torn apart by elders, so no matter whom Ashley chose to be with in the future, he would support her.
The premise being that the other person’s character wasn’t an issue.
As long as the character was fine, whether the person was rich or poor, or what their family background was, it all wouldn’t matter.
These thoughts passed through his mind, but only took two or three seconds in reality.
Owen said, "In any case, we don’t need to worry too much. I can see that Warren is a very smart and capable kid, nothing will happen to him. And now that it’s confirmed he’s on the cruise, once it docks at the next port, the Prescott Family will send someone to meet him."
Ashley nodded.
"I know, nothing will happen to him."
It was both a certainty and a hope.
Not to mention, if something really happened to Warren, what would happen to Elder Prescott, she didn’t dare to imagine.
When she was about to get off, Ashley said, "Uncle Owen, thank you for helping Warren. Grandpa Prescott and I will remember your kindness. However, Grandpa doesn’t know about this yet, and he’s currently in Aethelgard. If by any chance you run into him, please help keep it a secret."
Owen was a bit surprised.
"Elder Prescott doesn’t know yet?"
"Yes, he’s not in good health, we don’t dare to let him know. I’ve been accompanying him around Aethelgard these past two days to divert his attention."
Owen looked at her and said, "You have a good relationship with Elder Prescott."
It was a definitive tone.
Ashley nodded determinately and added, "Before my mom passed away, she signed an organ donation agreement. The heart Grandpa Prescott has now is my mom’s heart."
Owen suddenly lifted his eyelids, and if you looked closely, you’d notice his hands were slightly trembling.
Ashley didn’t notice his trembling hands, seeing his shocked expression, she thought it was normal.
Such a coincidental thing, anyone would be surprised to hear it.
"Well... Uncle Owen, it’s getting late, I’ll head back now."
Owen tried to find his voice, speaking as calmly as possible, "Alright, you should rest early. If I run into Elder Prescott, I’ll be sure not to say anything."
"Thank you."
Ashley thanked him and got out of the car.
Owen watched Ashley until she entered the hotel and disappeared from his sight before...
When the elevator reached her floor, it ironically confirmed that saying: fate often brings enemies together.
As soon as the elevator door opened, there was a familiar face in front of her.
The woman’s face was pale and haggard, and even though she wore thick foundation, upon closer look, you could still see the old injury at the corner of her mouth.
Who else could it be but Rosalind Lynch?
The last time they met, she was just surprised. This time, she couldn’t help but be a bit more cautious.
Although it was almost the start of the school year, given Rosalind’s personality, why would she stay at such a cost-effective hotel?
—The more luxurious the hotel, the lower the cost-effectiveness, and Rosalind loved luxury the most.
Could she be purposely following her?
But she wasn’t Noelle, she wouldn’t jump to conclusions without evidence; she just stared blankly at Rosalind, waiting to see what she would do.
Rosalind was equally surprised yet unsurprised to see Ashley in the elevator.
Surprised at how she happened to run into Ashley again upon her return.
Unsurprised, because she had chosen this floor in the first place.
Originally to catch Ashley meeting that guy at the hotel; now suddenly she stumbled upon Owen Sinclair.
It was like a pillow had been sent to someone who was sleepy. She was worried about how to take revenge, and now a revenge plan had long since formed in her mind, just waiting to be executed.
Ashley waited for a long time, the elevator doors auto-closed, then she pressed the button to open them again, yet Rosalind said nothing.
She took the initiative to speak: "What a coincidence."
Coincidence for what?
If not for her special situation, how would she tolerate staying in such a trashy hotel?
And it was all because of Ashley!
Moreover, she had originally had a chance to "ascend," only for Ashley to ruin it.
The hatred at this moment seemed to take a tangible form.
She cast a vicious glance at Ashley, said nothing, and pulled her suitcase inside.
Ashley, seeing this, couldn’t be bothered to bicker with her and stepped out of the elevator.
As they brushed past each other, one was indifferent, the other resentful.
Like she couldn’t hold back, Rosalind said coldly, "Don’t be complacent, it won’t last long, you autumn locust!"
Ashley turned around, but the elevator doors had already closed.
She only felt frustrated and returned to her room expressionlessly.
Ariana Grant was watching a live broadcast.
Leon Zeller’s leg was getting better by the day, and by today, he could move freely without showing any signs of injury.
And as his leg healed, the Stardust Team was also developing better and better.
Not only had everyone, under Leon’s guidance, made their own wooden bed, but they were eating well every day with at least a balanced diet.
Especially today, they successfully made a "fire striker," so they no longer needed to spend an hour cooking and two hours lighting a fire.
When Ashley swiped her card and came in, Ariana happened to switch to watching another team’s live stream.
She wanted to see whether their living conditions were above or below the Stardust Team’s.
She just happened to see the only female guest on the show arguing with her teammate.
Seeing Ashley come in, Ariana immediately began to vent to Ashley.
"I don’t know what’s with this woman. She chose that teammate at the start, and now that she sees his wilderness survival skills don’t measure up to the Stardust Team’s, she wants to join the other side."
Ashley mustered up the energy to chat with Ariana for a bit.
The general idea being that the Stardust Team certainly wouldn’t allow this female guest to join.
Sure enough, after a while, when the female guest found the Stardust Team and explained her situation, Leon firmly refused.
"Sorry, we’re all men, and it might be inconvenient for a girl to join."
"It’s okay, I don’t mind the inconvenience."
This statement made Ariana so mad that she wanted to punch the woman.
"Does she understand human language at all?"
"Alright," Ashley soothed. "The Stardust Team is a cohesive group. It’s not like adding a female; even if a male guest joins, it wouldn’t be the original Stardust Team. Leon knows what to do."
However, although the words were said, and Ariana understood the reasoning, she was still very uncomfortable.
The uncomfortable result was that she began to compare the other woman’s appearance to her own.
The result was that not only was the woman beautiful, with a good body, but also had a pleasant voice.
But facing such a beautiful woman, Leon showed no interest at all, so when he saw someone like her wearing plus-size women’s clothes, wasn’t it...
