Chapter 53: A Little Friend

Chapter 53: 53: A Little Friend

The atmosphere had gotten rather awkward. They were all quiet while staring at Elvis and Leo who had their eyes on each other.

Their cold eyes locked while Leo casually smiled. Elvis had a cold expression on.

"Is that so? I don’t think I’m familiar with any figure" Elvis said, his expression was indifferent.

Leo smiled "I’m pretty sure I guess" He looked around "I’m always sure of what I see. I have a good sight after all"

"That’s good for you then" Elvis said "Because I fear I don’t really do"

"Is that so?" Leo smiled, a hand on his back "For some reason it actually did look like a close friend I might know. You should know this friend too"

"Too bad. He isn’t any close friend I know" Elvis said.

"Well. Too bad" Leo said, his smile still on.

King Edward didn’t seem to understand what the two young men were talking about. No one did. All they could feel was the cold aura around them.

He casually smiled as he interrupted their cold dialogue.

"Ah, I remember that you two had actually gone for the task of getting back the goods from the old man together" king Edward pointed out, changing the topic and awkward atmosphere.

"Oh yeah. I almost forgot that" Leo smiled, switching to the new topic.

"I’d like to thank you for the help you gave. I didn’t know it’d be that easy to obtain" King Edward expressed, giving all credit to Leo without bothering knowing what unfolded.

Elvis stood there without saying anything. He was already used to not gaining credits for what he did. But Leo did have something to say.

"No, don’t mention it. I literally did the least thing there" Leo smiled as he stared at the crown prince "As a matter of fact, The Crown prince was one with the most credit for its flawless success"

There was an awkward pause as they stared at Elvis for a while.

One would think Leo was just being humble and handing Elvis his credit while uplifting him, but Elvis already knew Leo.

He could already tell that he was up to no good.

Leo smiled "I’m serious. He came with a good friend who actually did the whole job without wasting any time. It was an interesting scene that day, wasn’t it?" He stared at Elvis.

Elvis quietly stood there without saying anything. He knew what Leo was up to.

"A friend? You did go with one?" King Edward asked, surprised "I don’t think I know this friend who did the whole job? I’m curious to know who he is so I can reward him as well"

King Edward and the rest around stared at Leo and then at Elvis who had awkward eyes on one another.

No one could really read the room at the moment except Adrian who stood there not even trying to understand what was happening fully.

But he could already tell that these two young men were having some secret beef in disguise.

And he could already guess who this "friend" was.

"You don’t know about the friend?" Leo asked king Edward "How strange, I thought this friend was pretty close to him. He even stays around here..."

While they chatted about the topic, Prince Lysander had sneaked away from them.

He wasn’t paying attention to what they were discussing. His eyes kept going on and off, looking in a specific direction.

The direction through which the mad man who was harassing his brother had left. He had gone in through the inner chamber. He was worried this man was still around.

And so while the rest was engrossed in the ongoing discussion, he made his way out.

"Friend? I didn’t know the crown prince had any new interesting friends..." king Edward expressed, trying to grasp what Leo was saying.

Leo smiled "Oh. I don’t think I know his name..but he’s this tall..." he was now trying to give a physical description of him.

"He’s this tall... Has a pretty face and all.. he looks super cute actually... tiny and pretty eyes.. with blonde hair and all..."

As he described, King Edward’s expression fell. He and Queen lea had instantly recognised who he was talking about.

And King Edward didn’t seem happy with his discovery.

"I don’t think I know of such a friend..." king Edward had denied while casting Elvis a cold glare.

Elvis could already tell he was pissed about the fact that Elvis had taken Eden to the important task.

Taking him out while knowing that the whole country was also after him.

"Is that so?" Leo smiled "Then I guess only The Crown Prince knows of this little friend"

He had his eyes on Elvis who had a stoic expression on.

"Well, Oh look, Isn’t that the duke of Hagerstown?, It’s been a while?" King Edward had changed the topic. He called out to the duke who made his way to them.

They had changed the topic as the new figure stood before them, greeting them all.

Eden was in the hallway, alone. He was still panicking over the fact that he had seen people that he didn’t expect to see at all.

Especially Adrian.

Eden was confused, wondering how on earth that was possible.

"It didn’t happen like that in the novel" he thought, pretty sure that none of them attended this event.

Eden was scared that the novel might actually be taking an unpredictable twist now. Especially one that even him as the reader couldn’t really predict.

"I suppose it’s normal considering that I tampered with the plotline..."He thought. "But that also means I won’t have much control of what will happen..."

He was still pondering on the idea. Thinking about how he was going to end this night. Go inside and continue his task? Or give up on tonight’s drama and go back in.

He wondered what he would do next when suddenly Prince Lysander made his way into the hallway where he was.
