Chapter 91: Down the rabbit hole

Chapter 91: 91: Down the rabbit hole

"Stop whatever that is!" Leo demanded.

The other guards had taken off in the horses and their sticks of fire, trying to figure out what was pulling down their men.

They were all distracted at the moment. Looking around and trying to track the snake down.

Eden casually smiled, knowing that this was his cue to escape.

And so he took it.

Slowly pacing backwards while they were all in chaos, and making his way out.

He sneaked backwards and was almost out of sight when Leo caught sight of him.

Leo’s attention was brought back as he glared at Eden in shock "You bastard...." He muttered as he immediately approached Eden with a sword.

But Eden was already far behind, and he didn’t bother stopping for anything.

Eden turned and took off, running deep into the woods that night. Even though he didn’t know where the hell he was going.

He ran and ran. His feet brushed through the woods that threatened to leave marks on him. He didn’t care. He only cared about his life that was at risk in the hands of Leo.

And so he ran through the dark woods that night, not minding where he was getting to.

He panted, gasped, ran and soon found his feet getting engaged with a wood. Eden fell.

A sharp gasp escaped his mouth as he fell to the group, rolling over the wood carelessly.

Before he could stop rolling, Eden found himself falling into a pit. Rolling into the depths of heaven knows where.

He was rolling violently down the rough edges of the pit. Brushing himself through it as he fell.

He didn’t think much about where he fell at the point, he was only certain that Leo wasn’t finding him anytime soon!

It was almost a minute worth of rolling before Eden landed on land. Land inside the pit.

He landed with a sharp "Ouch!" As he slowly sat up, looking around.

"That hurts..." Eden mumbled, running his hands over his waist while looking around at the spot where he found himself in.

It was dark. Clearly. Spooky and dark with mild bushes sitting at different edges.

Eden regretted his decision to come here. Well, he almost did. He never knew something like this would happen. He couldn’t have predicted that Leo would plan to end him in such a way.

Although, he still had plans of coming which he didn’t regret. But at least he would be more prepared and wouldn’t fall for his plot which led him down the rabbit hole. Literally.

He slowly got up, stretching himself up while looking around the environment. He was looking for a way out.

But Eden caught sight of light.

"What’s that..." He muttered while looking in the distance where light came from.

It was as though someone had set up a campfire. It was clear someone did.

Curious and a bit hopeful that he wasn’t alone, Eden slowly made his way towards the direction. Slowly and steadily as he picked up a stick for defense incase it was actually an enemy.

It was the only weapon he could find. A freaking stick.

Slowly, he made his way there. Drawing closer and closer as he raised the stick while getting ready for any possible attacks. He was cautious, cautious not to...

*Crack*

It was already too late.

He had stepped on a stick that cried. And clearly the person’s attention was caught.

Eden bit his lower lips, cursing himself for that.

"Who’s there?’

But then he heard someone say from that direction.

"Who’s that?"

It was a lady’s voice.

"A lady?" Eden thought as he stared at the distance. "What’s a lady doing out here this late all alone?"

He wondered as he now began moving there, more at ease.

At least it wasn’t one of those young noble men on haunt who could potentially have him killed for their glory.

"Who’s that...?"

The lady’s voice came again as Eden finally arrived at the spot, looking past the campfire.

He quickly recognised that face.

That face that could only belong to one person.

Helen.

Eden raised an eyebrow "You? What are you doing here?"

He didn’t expect an answer though. Eden could instantly tell that the plot somehow wanted her here!

Just as he suspected.

The plot was somehow still running based on the original script. One where she "mysteriously" gets lost in the woods for no freaking good reason. And then the male leads find her.

He thought that since he was already changing things significantly in the book, this plotline wouldn’t hold.

But he guessed it was still waxing strong in movement. Trying to insert the female lead somewhere!

Right now she was just a damsel in distress sitting there and unknownly waiting for her men to find her.

But too bad for her, Eden thought, he wasn’t her man. He was her rival.

"You...." Helen had recognised him. She was at the ball so she had known that he was the wizard of EL "The wizard of EL..."

Good memory, Eden thought as he stared at her expression.

To Eden’s surprise, he couldn’t find the fear and terror he was expecting to see on her face.

She was supposed to be scared of him knowing who he was already. But she didn’t seem scared, she seemed rather surprised to see him there.

Which was strange to Eden.

"Why are you here...?" She asked as though she still didn’t know he was the wizard of EL.

You should be running for you dear life. Eden thought. Not sitting here and starting a conversation with the devil.

Eden looked around "I..." He didn’t think he needed to explain himself.

He stared at her "You? What are you doing here...?"

She sighed as he stared at he campfire she made "I got lost. And found myself in here. Now I can’t find my way back" she actually explained.

Eden almost rolled his eyes.

Yeah right. You were clearly LOST so one of the male leads would find you.

Cliché.
