Chapter 122: 122: Levrick Kingdom
Eden and Lenny spent over two hours going through the books in the library, looking for information on this Levrick place.
It was a difficult search because they didn’t find much. But at least they found something at the end of the day.
And it was even more interesting that they only found like 10 materials about this place. Only ten out of the thousands of books in this library.
They brushed the suspicious thoughts off and began looking through the materials they had. The books, files and documents.
And it took a couple of hours to go through them. And they also went through some of the major books on the record of the Grand duchy again.
And as evening arrived at their doorstep, they were done with the books they needed to go through.
Looking all tired and exhausted, they stared at each other as they said.
"I think I figured out something" Eden said.
"Me too" Lenny nodded.
And so they began discussing.
"The so-called Levrick was actually a kingdom" Lenny said.
"One of the mini kingdoms of the Empire" Eden added.
"It was initially a kingdom. One that shared boundaries with The Kingdom of Valencrest."
"But it didn’t hold so much power whatsoever. They were just a peaceful kingdom" Eden explained, judging from what they had read.
"And it was indeed proved indirectly that these two places, The Grand Duchy of Enor and The Kingdom of Levrick, were actually very close" Eden nodded.
"Super close. Their rulers, Leo’s parents and the King and Queen of Levrick were super close." Lenny explained.
They had gotten this deduction from the records of constant joint celebrations and feast between these two places. And exchange of political gifts and all with each other.
It only proved how close they were together.
"That’s probably why they kept mentioning the kingdom in the records of the grand duchy. They were just that inseparable" Eden commented.
Lenny nodded "And we’re also meant to know, that a year before the natural death of Leo’s parents, the kingdom of Levrick was officially occupied by the Kingdom of Valencrest"
"For some strange reasons.. the kingdom of Valencrest swallowed up the kingdom. And made it a city. And so the kingdom ceased to exist from then" Eden added.
The two of them were mute for a while, looking through the pages of the paper before them while running their minds on what they discovered.
"Why?" Eden suddenly asked "Why did it suddenly become a city and disappear? What happened to the King and Queen? Because it only said they amicably gave up their thrones which they couldn’t handle anymore and left"
"But it’s hard to believe" Lenny said "Considering that this is King Edward we’re speaking about. The power hungry king. It’s obvious they didn’t give you their thrones. He clearly took their kingdom from them to expand his"
Eden nodded "Exactly my thoughts. So now.. are the King and Queen of Levrick still alive? Or not? If so, where are they?"
They had thoughts running through their mind now.
"I think that’s another problem we’re yet to crack. But I wonder how the problem of this kingdom is related to The fall of Leo’s parents to their death? They might have been friends but it’s not like they were citizens of Levrick kingdom or something" Lenny shrugged.
"Maybe they were actually killed?" Eden struggled "Maybe they knew something about the fall of the Levrick Kingdom and someone didn’t want them to speak. And so.."
Eden had read some palace intrigue stories. And this was something he would always see. So it was easy to speculate.
"Makes sense. But what? How? There’s still a lot of questions we have to answer" Lenny said. "And these answers doesn’t seem to be in here. It’ll be dumb if they recorded it here"
"I thought as much. Now I guess we’ll have to rely on something else to get the whole gist" Eden bit his lower lips.
"What? Magic?" Lenny asked.
"Yeah. That. And also something else" Eden folded his arms "Queen Elizabeth"
"Huh? Queen Elizabeth? Why?" Lenny was confused for a while.
"I saw her name being mentioned a couple of times in the books I read" Eden said.
"Is that so? How? How’s she related to anything? And how can she be of help?" Lenny inquired.
Eden hesitated "There were instances mentioned in the record of the Grand duchy and some in the records of Levrick Kingdom"
Eden continued "Instances where it was portrayed as though the Kingdom of Valencrest was close to both the Grand duchy and Levrick kingdom. They three seemed close like... friends? And actually also had joint feasts and all"
Lenny raised an eyebrow "Is that so? I didn’t think I noticed it..."
"But what made it interesting to some extent is that I noticed that the kingdom of Valencrest wasn’t close to the two at all. And it was rather Queen Elizabeth that was. But the records used the kingdom in general"
"Why?" Lenny asked.
"I don’t know why. But it did. And I figured because in some descriptions, only Queen Elizabeth’s name popped up. And the events were only shown to have only her in it..."
Eden paused and then said "... This made me feel like she was actually close to either Leo’s parents or Levrick Kingdom’s rulers. Or maybe the two?"
Lenny thought about it for a while and also nodded "That actually makes sense.."
He stared at Eden "So what do you plan on doing now with the information?"
"I’m going to have to meet up with Queen Elizabeth first" Eden said, leaning back on his seat "I have a feeling that there’s more to this than we actually read. It can be more complicated"
"And..."Eden added, looking at Lenny now "There could be some other things that I can figure out that’s not necessarily the cause of the death of Leo’s parents"
As they discussed, a Knock came at the entrance door of the Royal Library.
Eden and Lenny stiffened as they looked up at the door.
