Chapter 165: 165: The Figurine
It was a figurine.
A figurine of a tiny lady elegantly dressed in a pink gown with a golden design. Her hair was yellow, and she had a fair skin tone to her body.
The figure was standing on a little circular brown stand, and it was standing still. Not turning or anything.
"This..." Eden slowly bent down to pick up the figurine.
He stared at it for a while as he recalled where this could possibly be from. Because he also recalled reading something like this in the book...
It was from Helen. Or so.
Eden recalled this from the novel. He recalled that this was something Leo picked up from the market because of Helen.
The two of them had ended up strolling the market on their first meeting. And Leo had offered to get Helen anything she wanted from the market.
Helen didn’t get anything. She said she didn’t. But she had spent a good amount of time casting glances at the figurine displayed at a shop.
"Do you like it? If you like it, you can have it," Leo offered.
"No. I don’t." But Helen blatantly refused even if it was obvious she wanted it.
Helen didn’t get anything at the end of the day. But Leo had bought that off the market later on for himself. And he kept it as a reminder of Helen, whom he wasn’t sure when he was going to meet again...
"What’s it doing here on the floor?" Eden stared at the figurine for a while. "Did he lose it?"
"It must be special to him." He shrugged as he casually tossed it into his robe’s pocket and made his way out.
Eden pushed open the door of the chamber to head out when he saw Damien at the doorstep.
He paused.
Damien stared at him with both hands behind him. "And where do you think you’re going?"
Eden stared at him for a while. "Out. Can’t I go out again?"
"The bathroom and all is inside there. So I don’t see a reason for you to step out. The lord instructed you to stay in there, and I’m to keep an eye on you," Damien said.
Eden blinked. "And why should I be a prisoner in his room?"
"Because you wanted to. You wanted to sleep in his room so bad. And now you’ve gotten what you wanted. Why then are you running off?" Damien folded his arms.
Eden cast him a cold glare as he thought, "What a brat."
He looked around and also folded his arms. "Well. I want to go and meet your lord. I have something important to talk to him."
"He’s busy. So go in and sleep. You can meet him tomorrow," Damien replied.
"But it’s urgent. Don’t you want me to tell him the information I have? If I don’t tell him now and forget it by tomorrow, it’s all because of you. And you’ll be punished," Eden threatened.
Damien frowned. "Are you threatening me or what?"
"Maybe."
"I don’t care. I’m simply following instructions. He’s busy and can’t meet you. So go in now and keep the peace," he urged.
Eden stared at him for a while. There was silence.
"What’s he busy with this late at night that he won’t come in and sleep in his own room?" Eden fixed his eyes on the lad.
"It’s none of your business. He doesn’t want to sleep with you, and that’s it. Stop pulling your tricks for him to sleep in the same room as you. That’s atrocious," Damien frowned.
"What’s atrocious about two men sleeping together?"
"Everything," Damien defended.
"So you won’t want it if I wish to sleep with you?" Eden had both arms folded as he walked up to Damien.
Damien panicked as he stepped backwards, a hand on the sword by his side. "Stay back. I’ll attack if you come closer..."
Eden scoffed. "Whatever. I don’t have your time. Tell me why your boss isn’t sleeping in the same room as I am."
"My lord doesn’t want to sleep with you."
"Then where is he sleeping?" Eden questioned.
"He’s clearly going to stay in another room," Damien said.
"Is that so? What’s the other room?" Eden raised an eyebrow.
"And why should I tell you that?" Damien questioned.
Eden paused, stared at Damien, and then said, "I doubt he’s staying in another room. He’s obviously in the library."
Damien stiffened, surprised at how Eden knew about that. "What are you talking about... why would he be there...?"
Eden smiled. "You can’t lie to a wizard, you know that, right?"
Damien was quiet for a while.
Eden added, "So tell me. Why doesn’t he sleep in his room at all, but spends his nights sleeping out in the library?"
Eden didn’t know if he slept in the library or not. He had just taken a wild guess to get more information from Damien, whom he predicted wasn’t so tight-lipped.
"And why would you say that? Of course, he always sleeps in his room. It’s just that he doesn’t want to sleep with you, and so he left it for you." Damien was trying so hard to lie better.
But he was bad at it. And Eden could tell.
"He doesn’t sleep in his room. It doesn’t look like a place where someone sleeps in. So stop lying. You’re bad at it," Eden raised an eyebrow.
"...." Damien couldn’t believe he was caught. "What do you want?"
Eden smiled. "So tell me why he doesn’t sleep in his room and spends his night in the library."
Since Damien didn’t refute his initial words of Leo sleeping in the library, he guessed he was actually right.
Damien was the type of person Eden could easily read and predict. And he knew now how he was going to get information from him as well.
"I don’t think I owe you an explanation. So go in and sleep now." Damien wasn’t planning on speaking at all.
But Eden was already bent on making him speak by all means.
