Chapter 169: 169: A Redo
"And what makes you think you can advise me? I should be wiser than you..." Leo still defended.
"Take it or leave it. It’s the truth. It’s harder for you to get over simply because you only keep to yourself. You don’t have people around you, you always treat everyone like an enemy. How are you supposed to find genuine people to help you?"
Leo was quiet as he stared at Eden.
Eden couldn’t tell if he was thinking about his words or thinking of a way to have his head.
"Besides, I also think we have a similar route to our insomnia," Eden stated. "Our parents. So I felt my words might help..."
Leo glared at him. "And what makes you think I have insomnia because of my parents?"
Eden shrugged. "I just thought so."
Leo turned. "Then stop jumping into silly conclusions," he muttered.
"I was just trying to help." Eden rolled his eyes.
"If you’re trying to help, then you should give me the information I asked of you. Since you could bring up my parents," Leo stared at him again.
Eden blinked. "Ah..." he ran a hand through his hair. "My head hurts... I can’t think straight now..."
Leo turned again to his book.
Eden bit his lower lip as he stared at the drink beside him. "You should also stop taking these. It’s not good for your health."
Leo said nothing.
"But... why would you prefer staying in here and not your room? What does your room make you feel like?" Eden looked around the library, wondering how it could be comforting to him.
Leo said nothing still. His eyes on his book which he was trying to get back to.
"But I also have a way to cure your insomnia if you want to try." Eden’s eyes were on the figurines in his hands. "I have some magic skill that would probably help you sleep soundly."
Leo paused. Though he said nothing, his hands still held onto the figurines while he stared at it. His eyes picking up Eden’s words subconsciously.
Eden noticed as he reached out his hands for the figurine. But Leo held it tightly. "What do you think you’re doing?"
Eden scoffed. "Don’t worry, it’s not like I’m stealing it from you. I just want to fix something in it. Add a bit of magic to recreate a tool and then it’d be perfect," he offered.
"No need for that." Leo was still adamant. "You can leave it like that."
Eden stared at him. "You’re so stubborn..." Eden said as he brought his hands down to meet Leo’s hands.
He used some tricks he hoped would work. And it did.
A magic trick that made Leo’s hands stiffen. He couldn’t move his hands that were frozen.
"What did you do to me...?" He looked at Eden, who took the figurine from his hands. He still couldn’t move his hands. "What..."
"Just watch and stop being annoying. It’s not like I’m killing you," Eden said as he took the figurine and stared at it for a while, observing it.
Leo was still alert, trying to break free from the spell that seized his hands and legs but to no avail.
Eden, on the other hand, observed the object for a while as he pulled its body part as though he was checking something.
"What do you think you’re doing?" Leo questioned, thinking he was about to destroy the object.
Eden said nothing. He was still checking the object while giving Leo the silence.
"Hey. Speak. How dare you ignore me... what are you doing?" Leo questioned, struggling to move himself.
Eden studied it for a while and said, "Maybe I can do it with this..."
"Do what?" Leo questioned.
"I’ll be giving you a gift. Something that helps with sleep at least. Something to calm you down. From where I come from, it’s pretty effective."
"I don’t need it. Give it back," he demanded. But Eden didn’t bother staring at him.
Eden now had the figurine in his palm as he stared at it carefully. He observed it for a while as he pictured what he wanted to make of it.
He created a mental picture of what he wanted to make of it. And with that, he brought a hand over the figurine.
And then he began muttering some words to it. Purple dust began hovering around the figurine. Purple sparkling dust.
Leo was confused. "What are you doing? I won’t forgive you if you ruin that..." he said, alert.
Eden didn’t reply to him but kept doing what he was doing, using his powers to change the figurine into something else.
It took a minute or so. The purple sparkling dust spun around it and it transformed into something else.
Something different. But still a figurine.
It was a tiny male figurine now. One that looked like Eden in some sense, with his blonde hair and purple attire. And it was in a transparent ball-like glass.
Inside the glass was the little human who was spinning slowly. Purple sparkling dust filling the ball in a pretty light.
And there was a faint melody that it produced. One faint and rhythmic. The sound of a music box.
Eden smiled. "It’s perfect," he said as he dropped it on the table, now releasing Leo.
Leo stared at it in immense shock. He didn’t even pick it up. "What did you do...? Where’s..."
"It’s still the same thing. I just gave it a do-over. Made it more modern and replaced it with myself," he smiled.
"....." Leo was shocked.
"It’s a gift from me, so I figured I should be on it," Eden smiled, satisfied that he replaced Helen in his little way. "I also added a pretty glass and some music. It’s going to help calm you—"
Leo was too stunned to speak. All he could do was stare at his precious figurine which got a complete makeover into something else.
Something he didn’t even recognize anymore.
