“What’s strange about it? Didn’t you say you needed a quiet environment?”
This was clearly sophistry.
“A relatively quiet environment doesn’t require chasing everyone else out,” Shi Xin Xin said, appearing to trust Sheng Chen Jin completely.
She put on her gloves as she spoke.
Her professional demeanor was captivating, a pity Sheng Chen Jin couldn’t see it.
“Lie down,” Shi Xin Xin commanded coldly.
Sheng Chen Jin obediently lay down.
“Your hand.”
Sheng Chen Jin hesitated for a moment before extending his hand.
Then he felt a pair of soft, tender hands cup his large palm. Moments later, a sharp sting on the back of his hand as a needle pierced his flesh, followed by a stream of icy fluid entering his body.
Sheng Chen Jin slowly lost consciousness.
Shi Xin Xin curled her lips. Anesthesia was necessary; it would reduce a lot of pain.
This eye injury might be permanent.
Shi Xin Xin focused intently on the treatment. The medical kit was rummaged through several times, finally closing with a resounding click, having fulfilled its sacred mission.
Shi Xin Xin happily patted it, a smile gracing her face, the kind only a young woman possesses.
“You’re amazing.”
Shi Xin Xin opened the door. The assistant waiting by the door noticed and followed her in.
“The treatment results are quite good. After waking, you’ll only need at most three days of recovery for a full recovery. I’ll cover the follow-up appointments.”
“If his body is strong enough, there won’t even be a need for follow-up appointments.”
Shi Xin Xin was not nervous at all. Even though this was a problem considered thorny by the entire medical community, she dared to guarantee it.
The assistant couldn't help but cheer for this woman.
Impressive! So bold!
“So, when will the CEO wake up?”
The assistant’s true concern was this question. While he wasn't afraid Shi Xin Xin would do anything untoward to Sheng Chen Jin, he simply wanted to know his CEO’s condition.
“I thought you were more at ease than this. Forget it! I’ll stay here and wait for your CEO to wake up,” Shi Xin Xin smiled.
Shi Xin Xin found a comfortable sofa and sat down. The room fell silent. The assistant was also momentarily at a loss for words, content to just wait for Sheng Chen Jin to wake up.
However, none of them expected Shi Xin Xin to be so willing to stay and wait, especially considering CL Company’s recent IPO.
This young lady wasn't busy with the company's listing affairs, yet she was interested in treating their CEO, albeit at CEO Sheng’s request.
It wasn't surprising that their CEO was so eager for treatment; this eye problem had plagued Sheng Chen Jin for far too long, so long that he wouldn't easily let go of a life-saving straw.
After all, without good vision, even basic office tasks became far more complicated.
No matter how many trusted individuals were around the CEO, there was always a barrier in his heart that couldn't be easily crossed.
The few people remained in this awkward stalemate for a while, neither of them leaving first, as Sheng Chen Jin, having just undergone a minor surgery, was still sleeping peacefully, not yet awake.
Shi Xin Xin was actually anxious. She didn't have the time to simply wait for Sheng Chen Jin to wake up. But seeing how worried his subordinates were, fearing she might do something to their CEO that could endanger his life, she couldn't easily ask to leave.
After all, in front of the Sheng family, she was merely a young lady from a prominent family returning from abroad.
Her medical skills were still in the realm of hearsay. Whether she could truly cure Sheng Chen Jin’s eyes remained to be determined.
Shi Xin Xin was indifferent to their doubts. Worry and suspicion were natural human emotions. It was truly exceptional for Sheng Chen Jin to so casually entrust his well-being to someone like herself, whose background was not well understood.
After waiting for a long time, Sheng Chen Jin showed no signs of waking. Shi Xin Xin glanced at her watch. She had many things to handle in the afternoon, and it was almost lunchtime.
She found it difficult to speak up. It wasn't something Sheng Chen Jin would wake from any time soon, which made Shi Xin Xin feel somewhat troubled.
The gazes of several people were awkward, and they dared not roam freely over each other's faces, so they all fixed their attention on Sheng Chen Jin.
Under everyone's expectant gaze, Sheng Chen Jin's slender fingers finally twitched slightly, drawing particular attention in the quiet atmosphere.
“The CEO moved!” the assistant exclaimed in joyful surprise.
This shout jolted Shi Xin Xin, who had been lost in thought, back to awareness.
“There’s nothing to be surprised about. He looks quite healthy, so it’s reasonable for him to wake up so quickly.”
“It seems he’ll be treating me to a good meal today.”
The assistant, however, was pondering something else. He considered that they had already contacted the renowned “Ghost Hand Divine Doctor,” and it was time to arrange a follow-up examination for his CEO.
What if this pampered young lady was just deceiving them, with only a smattering of skills, trying to swindle them? It was not impossible that she was after the Sheng family's prestige and power.
They had encountered such situations many times before. They couldn't risk their CEO's life trying repeatedly.
Sheng Chen Jin gradually regained consciousness, his body began to stir, as if he were about to wake up.
Everyone around held their breath, not daring to make a sound, lest any overly excited noise or movement disturb Sheng Chen Jin, who was just awakening.
“How are my eyes?”
His voice was hoarse, as if from just waking, likely feeling some pain from the treatment on his eyes, and he spoke very softly.
But everyone could hear the barely perceptible tremor in his voice.
“The bandages on your eyes cannot be removed immediately. You must not get them wet for the next three days, and your diet must be light, but you must eat well.”
“You must do as I say. Otherwise, if your eyes return to their previous state, I won’t come to treat you again.”
“You know very well what your eyes were like before. You’ve seen so many doctors; you should know how difficult the situation is.”
“I am not seeking anything by treating your eyes. Whether it's money or power, I have it all.”
“Those youngsters who wanted me to help you were doing so as a favor to them. I don’t need your help. You should know what else you need to do.”
In truth, Shi Xin Xin didn't want to be so blunt. After all, she rarely asked for favors, but it was necessary.
The influence of the Sheng family's power in the country was well-known externally, but she didn't want to get involved with the Sheng family through this, especially since she didn't need any of it.
If she needed anything, it would be better to accumulate some benefits for her own children.
Although being able to associate with the Sheng family was something to be proud of, she couldn't let herself become lost in such self-congratulation.
Even her maternal grandfather had never asked the Sheng family for cooperation, even though the patriarchs of the two families were once rare and cherished friends.
“Thank you, Miss Shi. If you ever need any help in the future, please don't hesitate to ask.”
Everyone around inhaled sharply. For many, receiving a promise from the Sheng family was a fortune beyond measure.
The Sheng family's power was absolute. If one received their help, it undoubtedly meant that, in this country, anything could be achieved if one desired it.
Shi Xin Xin wasn't particularly overjoyed at the moment. Instead, she worried if Sheng Chen Jin's words were truly sincere.
If, in the future, her three children encountered any trouble and he didn't help, being ungrateful, Shi Xin Xin truly wouldn't know what to do with him. However, she would have plenty of opportunities to ruin those eyes again.
“Sheng Chen Jin, please remember what you said today.”
