"No, we're just investigating a case. If you're unwilling to help us check the surveillance, we'll have to apply for a search warrant. It's a simple issue," Jack said, pretending to leave.
"Wait." Elsie Heks called out to Jack, "I'm willing to assist your investigation, but I hope you can keep it confidential.
The guests here value their privacy and would not want me to hand over the club's surveillance to the police."
Jack assured, "Mr. Elsie Heks, our investigation process is inherently confidential, you can be at ease about that."
Elsie Heks walked to the computer, adjusting the surveillance footage while asking, "What happened to her? Why are you tracking her whereabouts?"
"She was kidnapped."
"Oh my God, that's terrible.
However, I can assure you it has nothing to do with our gym club. If I hand over the surveillance to you, it wouldn't bring trouble to the club, would it?"
Jack sighed, "Please, have some sympathy. What you should be worried about now is Isa Redman.
She is a member of your club. Are you planning to stand by while she has been kidnapped?"
Elsie Heks stood up and moved aside.
Jackson approached the computer and pulled up the video from March 12th, "Captain, I see Isa Redman.
She arrived at the gym club at 9:20 in the morning and left at 10. She didn't seem to be acting unusually, so she probably hadn't been kidnapped yet."
Jack said, "She indeed came to the club, which means her boyfriend-in-waiting didn't lie; we can rule him out as a suspect."
Elsie Heks also glanced over, "Her leaving the club indicates that her kidnapping has nothing to do with us."
Luke asked, "Where can we view the surveillance for the entire building?"
"In the security room on the first floor."
"Thank you." Luke said as he left the office.
Jackson and Jack also exited.
Jackson stopped at the reception desk, hesitating as he looked at the black receptionist.
The receptionist straightened her ample chest and grinned, "Sir, do you want my number?"
"No, I want an investigative questionnaire."
The black receptionist remained silent.
The trio of Luke reached the security room on the first floor, showed their badges, and stated their purpose.
After a bit of patient and friendly persuasion, the building management agreed to let them review the surveillance footage.
From the building's surveillance videos, it could be seen that Isa Redman took the elevator to the underground garage after leaving the gym club.
There are blind spots in the garage's surveillance, and Isa Redman disappeared when passing through one of those blind spots.
Luke speculated that she was likely kidnapped here and taken away in a car.
Luke then checked the surveillance at the garage exit. Shortly after Isa Redman went missing, a red Lexus drove out.
The driver wore a baseball cap and mask, obscuring their face, but their attire caught Luke's attention. No ordinary person would dress like that within a car, clearly to avoid being identified by surveillance.
Luke pointed at the Lexus in the surveillance video and asked the building security, "Do you have information on this car?"
The security guard checked the computer and said, "Yes, it's a monthly rental with a designated parking spot. The renter is Isa Redman."
Jack looked puzzled and murmured, "So Isa Redman might have been kidnapped by her own car. Yet her parents never mentioned the car.
Why haven't they mentioned such a crucial piece of evidence?"
This is indeed a question Luke also wanted to discuss with Isa Redman's parents.
But before that, he wanted to investigate the gym club's underground garage to see if any new clues could be unearthed.
Later on, the technical team also arrived at the underground garage to examine the scene, but given that two days had passed since Isa Redman's kidnapping, the site had been compromised, leaving behind scant evidence.
Other leads gradually came to Luke's attention, first by investigating the Lexus's license plate. The car owner was Isa Redman's mother, Mrs. Redman.
Secondly, the exact time the Lexus left the garage was 10:20 in the morning, whereas the kidnappers made the ransom call at noon, which is a relatively reasonable timeframe.
Generally speaking, after abducting a hostage, kidnappers would call for the ransom promptly to prevent the victim's family from notifying the police.
If Isa Redman had been kidnapped on the night of March 11th, dialing the ransom call on the afternoon of the 12th would have seemed a bit late.
Additionally, surveillance indicated that Isa Redman often came here to exercise, and her schedule was relatively fixed.
From a perspective switch, if Luke were the kidnapper, he might also choose this location for an ambush, saving on transportation.
Luke glanced at his watch; it was past nine at night. He decided to get in touch with Isa Redman's parents.
Out of concern that the kidnappers might be monitoring near Isa Redman's home, Luke didn't rush over; instead, he opted for a video call with them.
When the video connected, a pair of middle-aged white spouses sat on the other end.
Luke introduced himself, "Mrs. and Mr. Redman.
I am Luke Lee, captain of Squad One in the Robbery and Murder Department. I am now responsible for investigating the kidnapping of Isa Redman."
