Chapter 1097 - 484: Ten Years_3

Anthony was somewhat helpless, "Can you give me some advice? Don't forget, you're also a crime consultant for the FBI."

Luke didn't answer directly, he countered, "Do you know why I'm investigating this case?"

"I wasn't sure before, but later Reid told me that the victim Isa Redman's father requested it.

I think it might be because the news of Little Gary Sane's kidnapping leaked, causing him to doubt the FBI's capability."

Luke continued, "At that time, I was vacationing in Hawaii with my family. After I received Director Reid's call, I considered it for a while. Just as I decided to return to Los Angeles, I discovered my credentials were stolen.

I caught the thief; she confessed she was instructed by someone to sneak into the hotel and deliberately steal my credentials."

Anthony immediately understood, "Someone wants to stop you from going back to Los Angeles to investigate the kidnapping case?"

Luke said, "Although there's no definite evidence, I suspect the same.

After coming back, I asked the hostage's father. Only four people knew he wanted me to investigate the kidnapping case.

He himself, his wife, Director Reid, and Gary Sane."

Anthony retorted, "Do you suspect Gary Sane is suspicious?"

"I don't know, I haven't interacted with him. What do you think?"

Anthony answered, "We've checked his company's finances; they are operating well.

Moreover, he is also the one who reported it to the police, and there's no sign of lying. I think he probably isn't much of a problem."

Luke speculated, "Then maybe someone close to him has a problem. The billionaire only told him, but that doesn't mean he won't tell others."

Anthony nodded, "I understand what you mean. I'll talk to him privately.

By the way, any leads on the person who hired the thief?"

"We have a criminal sketch of him."

"Great, send me the sketch of that guy. Once the case is solved, I'll buy you a drink." Anthony stood up, seeming eager to investigate this new clue.

Luke waved, "Don't rush, I have something else for you to help with."

"What is it?"

"Ten years ago, there was a kidnapping in Los Angeles. The victim was a ten-year-old girl, and her father was a diamond merchant.

This kidnapping case was investigated by the FBI at the time."

Anthony was silent for a moment, reminiscing, "Yes, I remember this case. The kidnappers were never caught, the girl was never found. Afterward, the media dramatized it, and many citizens blamed us for being incompetent.

Why do you bring up this case now?"

"I'll explain later. I need the case file."

"No problem. This case is a stain on the FBI. If you, as an FBI crime consultant, can solve it, maybe you'll replace me."

Luke laughed, "Shouldn't it be Negan's position?"

"You're an ambitious lad, I need to warn Negan about you."

"Come on, by the time I get to Negan's position, he might already be the head of the FBI." Luke joked, "By then, I'll watch out for you, Deputy Anthony."

"I won't be Deputy forever, you annoying lad." Anthony pretended to walk away.

Luke reminded him, "Hey, be careful, don't let the mole you mentioned find out. I don't want Isa Redman's case to be on the news tomorrow."

Anthony waved his hand, "Don't worry, I'll personally look for it in the archives."

Luke gave a thumbs up, "Waiting for your news."

...

The next morning.

Mary pushed open the door of Team One's office, "Good morning, guys.

Wow, I smell donuts."

The deputy captain brought over the donuts enthusiastically, "This donut shop is having a promotion, have a taste, it's quite good."

"Thank you, I was busy all night and I'm starving." Mary took a bite of the donut, looking satisfied.

As she finished the next donut, the deputy captain asked, "Did the biological evidence analysis result of the kidnappers come out?"

"Yes, one piece of good news and one piece of bad news." Mary said, then took another bite of the donut.

Jackson poured her a cup of coffee, "I choose the good news."

"Thank you, you're so thoughtful." Mary took a sip of coffee, continued,

"The good news is, we successfully matched the DNA extracted from the household garbage in the house. We found out one of the person's identities. Her name is Sofia Delarosa, twenty years old."

Jackson pursued, "What's the bad news then?"

"According to her records, she was kidnapped ten years ago and has been declared missing, presumed dead.

So basically, what we found was someone officially 'recognized as dead'.

Her life over the past decade is a blank."

"Sofia Delarosa, Sofia Delarosa..." the deputy captain mumbled a few times, seeming somewhat excited,

"That's right, it's her.

Oh my God, it's been ten years, she's actually still alive!"
