Chapter 366: The Queen’s Pent-Up Desire

But that was hardly certain. The last time Lorelle had been furious, Leofric had stood there for six straight hours, letting her pour out all her anger on him without complaint.

Yes, six hours.

At this point, Primrose couldn’t tell whether Leofric had simply lost his mind or if he was desperately trying to make amends for whatever sins he had committed against her.

"But husband, can we have lunch in your office instead?" Primrose asked softly, swaying their joined hands as they walked down the palace corridor. "I just want ... to be alone with you."

It was rare to have time alone with Edmund, aside from when they were asleep. That was why Primrose didn’t want to waste even a moment of it by letting others intrude on their privacy.

Edmund nodded without hesitation. "If that’s what you want." His voice sounded so gentle, the kind that always made her heart feel safe.

She then asked Solene to inform the maids to bring their meal to Edmund’s office instead.

Soon after, the food was arranged neatly on a table in his office, the warm scent of freshly cooked dishes filling the air.

But instead of taking her own seat across from him, Primrose nestled herself comfortably on his lap. She picked up the spoon, scooped a bit of food, and held it up to his lips. "Say ahh."

Edmund’s eyes softened, a smile tugging at his lips as he leaned forward and let her feed him. "Mm ... delicious," he murmured, though it was clear he wasn’t talking about the food.

[My wife is so clingy today ... I like it,] Edmund thought to himself, once again seemingly unaware that Primrose could hear him. [It’s been a long time since we’ve eaten together, but this is the first time she’s chosen to eat on my lap.]

Primrose’s cheeks burned red in an instant. She turned her face slightly away and murmured, "I just miss you so much, so ... I want to stay close to you for as long as I can."

Edmund hissed softly when he realized she had heard him. Her flushed cheeks only made her look more irresistible, and before he could stop himself, he leaned in and gave her cheek a playful bite.

"Edmund! What are you doing?" Primrose gasped, completely taken aback. She had expected a kiss, not a bite!

Had she really made her husband so frustrated that he wanted to devour her alive? After all, he had been left to take care of himself with his own hands, since Primrose often drifted off to sleep too quickly to help.

More than that, her doctors had also advised them not to have sexual activity during the first month.

They’d ignored that advice once, and it hadn’t ended well. Primrose had fallen asleep in the middle of their intimacy, which worried Edmund so much that he thought he had seriously hurt her by disregarding the doctor’s advice.

But now ... it had already been more than a month, hadn’t it? It should be fine. At least, she hoped so. Maybe this time she could try harder to stay awake. Maybe, if she asked him to kiss her over and over again, it would keep her from drifting off in his arms.

Primrose bit her lip, her thoughts racing. Should she say it out loud? The idea alone made her cheeks burn, but the longing in her chest only grew stronger.

Just like him, she was also sexually frustrated, perhaps even worse, since she hadn’t had the time or energy to touch herself.

She shifted slightly in her husband’s lap, her fingers curling into his sleeve. "Edmund ...," she whispered softly.

He glanced down at her. "Yes, wife?"

Primrose swallowed hard, her heart pounding. "It’s already been more than a month, hasn’t it?" She lowered her eyes, unable to meet his gaze. "Do you ... want to try again tonight?"

Edmund froze for a moment, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed hard. "I ... I don’t think that’s a good idea. Maybe we should wait until two months or more."

She blinked, leaning in closer until her face was just inches from his. "But ... I want tonight," she whispered, her voice trembling with longing. "It’s been too long, and I ... I feel so pent-up."

She nearly whispered the last words too faintly to hear, but Edmund caught them. "Really?" he asked, whether out of genuine curiosity or simply to tease her. "How bad?"

"So bad." Primrose bit her lower lip and tried to turn away, but Edmund caught her chin and gently guided her face back to his.

Her resolve crumbled, and she leaned forward, pressing her lips close to his ear. In a breathless whisper, she confessed, "I really want you to touch me."

Edmund held his breath, still trying to cling to the last thread of his sanity. "S-should we ask Dr. Celdric first?"

"What if he says no?" Primrose pouted, her lips trembling ever so slightly.

"Then ... we can’t do it," he replied, though his voice sounded uncertain even to his own ears.

"But I really want to," Primrose whispered, her eyes glistening with both longing and frustration. She pressed her forehead against his chest, her voice soft but insistent. "I’ve missed you so much, Edmund ... I don’t want to wait any longer."

Edmund let out a heavy sigh, tilting his head back as if searching for strength in the ceiling. He clenched his fists, trying not to give in. "My wife ... you’re putting me in such a hard position here."

Primrose shifted slightly in his lap, her lips curling into a sly pout. "Well, something else feels hard too." Her movement made Edmund groan low in his throat. "Should we just do it here? Right now? Didn’t you say you wanted to try it in your office?"

"No." Edmund’s answer came almost immediately. "I mean ... yes, I want to try it here, but not now. It would be uncomfortable for you. Besides, your dress ...." He lowered his eyes. "It’s far too complicated today. I don’t want to end up tearing it apart."

Unexpectedly, Primrose replied nonchalantly, "You can just buy me a new one."
