Chapter 73: Chapter 73 A walk to the company.

Early in the morning, Alexander snuck as usual into Daniel’s room. He watched the sleeping figure roll over cutely, hugging a novel so tightly as if it might disappear if he let it go.

Alexander inhaled the sweet fragrance in the room and realized it was Daniel’s pheromones. After staying with him all these days and the kiss last night, he was beginning to perceive them more clearly, despite Daniel wearing a powerful suppressant.

That was surprising because this wasn’t supposed to happen. If it was happening to him, it meant Xylander must have been getting Daniel’s scent, too. It seemed Daniel was a different type of Omega entirely. Apparently, when you’re sexually involved with him on a deeper level, you begin to share his scent. The reason Daniel couldn’t perceive theirs from afar was his emotional distance from them—something he and Xylander were determined to change.

Well, it was time to wake him up, that is, if he hadn’t stayed up all night reading.

"Wakey, wakey. Arise and shine, sleeping beauty," Alex purred, moving to the curtains and dragging them open, letting the harsh sunlight fall on Daniel’s face.

The blinding light made him begrudgingly sit up, his face puffy and a little swollen.

"Good morning, sleepyhead. Time to get ready. Xylander wants you to go to his company; he wants to show his husband around." The words jolted Daniel from his sleepiness, his eyes widening.

A tour of their family company? That sounded nice.

"Hmm, as happy as I am to hear that, I don’t think I can sacrifice my sleep for it. On the other hand, I want to start inflicting pain on Adrian Valez," Daniel muttered, still battling with his eyelids.

Alex shook his head. He thought this news would excite Daniel, but the reverse was the case.

"Did you stay awake, Dan? You’re supposed to be sleeping well. And in case you’ve forgotten, honeymoon calls." Alexander spoke with joyous expression, but Daniel wasn’t feeling it.

Yes, his joy was contagious, but recently Daniel had been feeling so worn out. It didn’t give him the excitement of having to work for several hours again.

"Is it a must to go with Xyle? Just tell him his hubby is tired and needs more rest," Daniel protested. Before he knew it, he fell back into the bed, attempting to sleep, but Alexander, the conniving bastard, had a trick up his sleeve.

"Okay, I wanted us to have roasted duck at the famous Chinese restaurant, but since you don’t want to, we can cancel it," Alexander shrugged and was about to turn around when a hand gripped his shoulder.

"Don’t you even move away. Okay, you win. I will follow Xylander to his boring office, and after that, we can go to the restaurant. Is that okay?" Daniel relented. Alexander nodded his head in affirmation. Good riddance, it worked.

Actually, Xylander wanted to show Daniel a surprise, something special waiting at the office which Daniel didn’t know about. So, weakly, he walked to the bathroom, picked up his toothbrush, and began brushing while facing his mirror.

Alexander’s eyes were fixed on Daniel’s slow, almost limping steps.

Was he alright? Could he be serious about being too tired for these planned activities? Alexander didn’t want to be inconsiderate, but he didn’t advise sleeping all day indoors; it could bring sickness. Maybe the outing was necessary.

Excusing himself, Alexander left the room, and Daniel was alone, dressing himself up. Minutes passed, and he was ready. He wore long, baggy corporate trousers with a loose white shirt, accompanied by a long coat which he carried over his arm. In loafers that shone brighter than coal, he walked out of the room, smelling distinctly of strawberries. As he walked, Alexander, who was waiting at the top of the stairs, caught his sweet scent and knew he was coming. Stepping into view, Daniel smiled at him.

"So, how do I look...?" He turned around, flaunting his good looks and stunning features.

Alexander swallowed a lump in his throat as he watched Daniel swirl. "Gorgeous as ever, Dan. Age before beauty," Alexander ushered, and Daniel began to descend the staircase slowly. His shoes clicked on the floorboards, alerting others to his presence, and his expensive cologne—or rather, his natural scent, which only specific people could perceive—filled the air.

"Where is Xyle?" Daniel questioned, expecting to see his husband, only to find the family gathered and watching him.

Please, not this morning. I don’t have the strength for this ridiculous drama. Daniel wasn’t going to waste his little strength on them, so he moved to continue to the elevator, but Maxine blocked him.

"Good morning, dear. It seems you’re going somewhere," Maxine inquired, while Rachael stood there again like a messenger sent from hell to spite his morning.

What is this family’s problem? Can’t they mind their own business and let someone be on their way?

"Oh, good morning to you, girl. I don’t know your name, and I don’t care. And good morning, Granny," Daniel greeted, ignoring the two couples once more as if they didn’t exist.

"Is that an insult? My name is Maxine! But that’s not the point. In case you’ve forgotten, you’re meant to be in the kitchen as tradition demands. We let yesterday slide because you promised this morning, so why are you dressed up?" Maxine demanded, sounding outright strict.

Daniel giggled at her stupidity. "Are you my mom?" he inquired, and Maxine blinked in confusion. Mom? Who is his mom?

"Then get the fuck out of my way before I push you down," Daniel yelled, making Maxine flinch.

Alexander tapped Daniel, telling him to calm down. "So, Max, if you need a home-made meal, the servants are there for you. Leave Daniel alone unless you want to suffer for it," Alex threatened, throwing a scornful gaze her way.

Maxine became agitated. She couldn’t talk further, eyeing Alex and seeking his favor, not wanting to end up on his bad side. "It’s just that I want—"

Alexander shoved her aside and took Daniel by the arm, walking away.

Rachael finally voiced out. "As you’re leaving, know that this house won’t be opened to you! And you, boy, have you forgotten your class? Aren’t you Xylander’s servant?" Rachel spat spitefully.

But Alexander didn’t turn back. He just continued until they reached the elevator and pressed the button for the doors to close.

"That family... if they continue to enrage me, I might put them all in a dark cell. What nonsense is all this?" Daniel spat in disgust. Even as old as that granny was, she couldn’t control herself. A bunch of useless people...

And as he was complaining, a wave of nausea hit him so violently that his face turned white.

"Are you okay, Daniel...?" Alex asked, seeing him pale.

Daniel held the elevator wall and faked a smile. "Yeah, I’m fine. Just a minor headache...."
