The twilight dragon, the smallest carnivorous dinosaur, stood only about 40 to 50 centimeters tall.
However, do not underestimate these little fellows; they were extremely ferocious, possessing sickle-like claws and dagger-shaped teeth. Their hind limbs were exceptionally strong, allowing them to leap quite high. Due to the discovery of numerous twilight dragon fossils, scientists hypothesized that they might have lived in packs.
Therefore, when these creatures hunted in groups, their danger level was absolutely not to be trifled with.
Dr. Hard, at close range, fired two shots consecutively, both hitting their marks. One twilight dragon was killed with each shot, as easy as shooting rabbits. However, the third twilight dragon suddenly leaped up, its claws raking across Dr. Hard's arm, leaving two terrifying claw marks.
Dr. Hard cried out in pain and retreated. More and more twilight dragons gathered around, ready to pounce and tear into Dr. Hard.
Four or five twilight dragons leaped from the ground simultaneously, approaching Dr. Hard.
In that instant, Dr. Hard felt that he was about to die.
But at that very moment...
Bai Ye suddenly leaped out from behind and pressed the switch on the lightsaber in his hand.
Hum, hum, hum...
As the switch was activated, a piercing hum sounded. Immediately, a beam of light rose from the hilt and swept forward.
In almost an instant, all the twilight dragons that had leaped from the ground were decapitated by Bai Ye, their bodies falling to the ground in two pieces.
Bai Ye glanced at the lightsaber in his hand, a look of surprise on his face.
This thing was awesome!
Although twilight dragons, due to their size, could only be considered weak dinosaurs, to be able to kill four or five with one sword, and to feel no resistance when cutting through their bodies—as if slicing through paper—was a testament to the lightsaber's terrifying power.
"Interesting!"
Bai Ye exclaimed, then, spotting a twilight dragon leaping to his side, he swung the sword with force again. And then...
A piercing pain instantly struck him.
Bai Ye bared his teeth and looked. That twilight dragon had actually bitten his arm.
Bai Ye looked at his lightsaber with a confused expression. Why was there only a hilt left?
Then...
Bai Ye suddenly understood something and almost spat out a mouthful of old blood.
A flash of light!
The light flickered and was gone...
"Damn it!" Bai Ye tossed the lightsaber away, grabbed the twilight dragon's body with one hand, ripped it off, and threw it aside, saying, "It really just disappears after one flash!"
As he flung the twilight dragon away, Bai Ye instinctively reached out and clenched his hand. The Condensation Frost Sword quickly flew into Bai Ye's hand. Immediately, Bai Ye raised his sword and brought it down, cleaving an attacking twilight dragon into two.
"Still my dear Condensation Frost is better," Bai Ye sighed, then shouted at Dr. Hard, "Run forward, quickly."
Dr. Hard nodded and immediately ran ahead.
Bai Ye quickly followed. However, the twilight dragons were relentless, closely pursuing the two. Then...
Bai Ye, targeting the position from which the twilight dragons were chasing, suddenly shouted, "Explode!"
Boom, boom!
The invisible demolition markers Bai Ye had set in advance proved useful at this moment. A deafening roar suddenly erupted, and trees collapsed.
The pursuing twilight dragons were instantly blown away.
Only then did Bai Ye and Dr. Hard slow their pace, looking back to confirm that no twilight dragons were chasing them.
"Let's keep going!" Bai Ye patted Dr. Hard's shoulder. "Although we escaped this tribulation, we can't stay in this place for long."
Dr. Hard nodded and continued to follow Bai Ye forward.
After a series of attacks, both Bai Ye and Dr. Hard became more vigilant.
However, it seemed that when misfortune struck too often, luck would eventually turn. By dawn, Bai Ye and Dr. Hard encountered no other dinosaurs.
They even managed to retrieve the Amber Stone from Research Institute No. 3 without encountering any danger.
Watching the sunlight filter through the treetops, Bai Ye said, "We should have left the management zone by now, right?"
Dr. Hard nodded. "If we calculate the journey, we left about an hour ago. We've entered the recreational zone now, where there will be more dinosaurs. The reason we didn't encounter any is probably good luck?"
As soon as Dr. Hard finished speaking, a deafening roar suddenly echoed from the distance.
Bai Ye immediately formed a sword seal, causing the Condensation Frost Sword to hover beside him. He then cast a resentful glance at Dr. Hard, wondering what kind of jinx he was.
But when Bai Ye looked at Dr. Hard, he saw that Dr. Hard's face was filled with excitement, showing no fear whatsoever.
"We're saved!" Dr. Hard grabbed Bai Ye. "Let's hurry!"
Bai Ye watched as Dr. Hard, following the sound, excitedly ran off. He quickly followed, asking, "What's going on?"
"We've found bodyguards," Dr. Hard said. "That's the roar of a Brontosaurus."
Bai Ye tilted his head. "Hmm?"
Dr. Hard explained, "Brontosauruses are herbivorous dinosaurs with very gentle temperaments. They will never retaliate unless you attack them, and very few other dinosaurs are willing to provoke these giants. This is because, although Brontosauruses lack sharp claws, they have strong teeth, immense biting power, and great strength, and they travel in large numbers."
Bai Ye, not being foolish, immediately understood. "We found a herd of Brontosauruses, and we'll follow them? Let them escort us?"
Dr. Hard nodded excitedly.
The two immediately quickened their pace. After about fifteen minutes, a large expanse of light appeared ahead, and Bai Ye and Dr. Hard emerged from the forest.
Before them lay a vast lake. About eight or nine Brontosauruses were drinking at the lake's edge, occasionally lifting their heads and letting out roars.
Dr. Hard gestured, signaling Bai Ye to stay behind him.
As they walked, Dr. Hard said, "Although Brontosauruses are gentle and rarely attack spontaneously, this is by their own standards. So, we should try not to let the Brontosauruses see us..."
Dr. Hard said this while pointing behind the Brontosauruses.
"Brontosauruses have very long necks but small heads, which obstruct their vision. When their heads are not lowered, they cannot see to their sides. Even when they lower their heads, it is difficult for them to see things to their rear and diagonally rear. Therefore, we only need to follow behind them," Dr. Hard mused. "There is only one thing we must be careful of."
Bai Ye asked, "What is it?"
Dr. Hard replied, "Be careful not to get stepped on."
Bai Ye was speechless, but after looking at the Brontosauruses' size, he felt it made sense. These were true behemoths, on an entirely different level from Velociraptors and the like. They weighed at least ten tons, and one misstep would send him either to heaven or on his way to it.
