On Purple Sun Mountain, Li Yi and Fuxi discussed the Dao for ten years, after which their discourse concluded.
"Thank you, fellow Daoist. I can already feel my bottleneck loosening," Li Yi expressed his gratitude to Fuxi.
"You are too kind, fellow Daoist. I too have gained significantly from this exchange. I should be thanking you," Fuxi replied happily.
Both Li Yi and Fuxi had reaped immense benefits from this discussion of the Dao.
Though both were masters of deduction, their methods differed, allowing them to learn from each other.
Li Yi's path of deduction, while not yet breaking through, had seen its constraints loosen. After a period of closed-door cultivation, a breakthrough should be imminent.
"Since fellow Daoist says so, I shall not be overly polite. We have disturbed you for quite some time. It is time for my brothers and I to take our leave," Li Yi said.
"Why the rush, three fellow Daoists? You have only just arrived, and I have not had the chance to host you properly. Must you depart so soon? Why not stay a little longer?" Fuxi inquired.
"Fellow Daoist, you may not know, but my third brother has recently taken in a disciple. We must escort him back to Kunlun," Li Yi explained.
Fuxi looked disappointed. "Since the three of you have important matters, I shall not press you to stay. We shall meet again."
Li Yi, Yuanshi, and Tongtian echoed, "We shall meet again."
With that, the three descended Purple Sun Mountain.
After leaving Purple Sun Mountain, Tongtian said to Li Yi, "Eldest Brother, now that Second Brother has recovered, should we go to Jade Capital Mountain to collect Fuxi's promised exchange?"
"Indeed, Eldest Brother! The Taiji Diagram and the Pangu Banner were promised to us by Fuxi. After Rahu's defeat, he has made no mention of them. Should we not remind him?" Yuanshi added.
"Not urgent. I have gained considerably from this battle, and I imagine you two have as well."
Yuanshi and Tongtian nodded. It was true, as their Eldest Brother said, they had gained much from their fight with Rahu.
"Let us wait until we have absorbed the spoils of this battle!"
Li Yi also wished to obtain the Taiji Diagram quickly. However, if Fuxi were to break his promise, his brothers would not be able to return in peace.
A fierce battle would surely ensue. Judging by Fuxi's behavior on Sumeru Mountain, he was not a man of his word.
Fuxi was far beyond the league of Ancestral Dragon and Yuan Feng. Li Yi was not confident of defeating Fuxi, even with Yuanshi and Tongtian by his side. He felt uncertain. Only after Tongtian refined the Immortal-slaying Formation might they be able to contend with Fuxi.
Yuanshi and Tongtian felt that Li Yi's words held merit. In any case, Fuxi was in this world and would not escape.
"After we pick up Chen'er from Qilin Mountain, we shall return to Kunlun. We have been away for so long; I wonder how my medicinal field is faring," Li Yi said with a hint of worry.
"Eldest Brother, do not fret. Upon our return, I shall have that boy Qi Chen manage your medicinal field for you," Tongtian offered, attempting to comfort him.
Yuanshi laughed heartily at Tongtian's words. "Third Brother, you do not teach him divine abilities, yet you plot to exploit him instead."
Li Yi also shook his head. "Third Brother is always up to mischief. However, Qi Chen is the Crown Prince of the Qilin tribe and accustomed to luxury. A little tempering would not be amiss."
"Second Brother, do you see? Eldest Brother agrees!" Tongtian teased.
Yuanshi pouted. "That's because Eldest Brother doesn't want to call you lazy, which is why he said that."
Tongtian retorted, "How am I lazy? I am tempering his disposition."
Li Yi, not wishing to listen to their bickering, quickly interjected, "Alright, alright. Let's go to Qilin Mountain. We have been away for many years. If we don't return soon, will Qi Chen think Third Brother has abandoned him?"
"That boy knows our character. If not for Eldest Brother needing to see Fuxi, we would have returned long ago," Tongtian said with a hint of dissatisfaction.
"Fine, fine. It's all my fault. Let's hurry on our way!" Li Yi said helplessly.
Li Yi and his two brothers arrived at Qilin Mountain. Qi Yi sensed their presence and felt a wave of relief. Though he knew the three were men of their word, their prolonged absence had left him feeling uneasy.
Now that he sensed their return, Qi Yi did not dare to delay and personally came to the front of Qilin Mountain to greet them.
"I thought you three fellow Daoists had left my son behind and would not be returning?" Qi Yi joked.
"Fellow Daoist, you jest. How could we three engage in such faithless acts?" Li Yi replied with a smile.
"Fellow Daoist, where is Qi Chen? We have been out for quite some time, and we are here to pick him up before we return," Tongtian said.
"Why the haste? Why don't the three of you stay a little longer on my Qilin Mountain?"
"Fellow Daoist, my brothers and I have been away from the mountain for quite some time. It is time to return. Moreover, we all gained something from the battle with Rahu, and we should enter seclusion for a period," Li Yi also stated.
Hearing Li Yi's words, Qi Yi knew he could not keep them. The cultivation of a practitioner was paramount; he had no reason to detain them further.
Qi Yi instructed his servants to notify Qi Chen to pack his belongings.
A moment later, Qi Chen arrived before the four and paid his respects to each of them.
"Greetings, Father King."
"Greetings, Master."
"Greetings, Eldest Martial Uncle."
"Greetings, Second Martial Uncle."
"Very well, rise. From today onwards, you shall follow your Master and your two Martial Uncles in your cultivation. Remember to be obedient and do not anger your Master or Martial Uncles!" Qi Yi earnestly advised Qi Chen.
"Your son understands, Father King. Rest assured," Qi Chen replied with a touch of sadness.
Since his birth, Qi Chen had always lived by Qi Yi's side. Now that he was leaving, both were reluctant to part.
Qi Chen then added, "Father King, now that your son will not be by your side, you must also take good care of yourself and not overexert yourself."
Li Yi and his two brothers watched the father and son's farewell, hearing Qi Chen's deep concern for Qi Yi, and knew they had not accepted the wrong disciple.
Seeing that time was getting late, Li Yi interrupted Qi Yi and his son. "Fellow Daoist, there is no need for excessive sadness. Feel free to visit Kunlun often."
Tongtian also said to Qi Chen, "Chen'er, it is the same for you. As long as you have the ability to protect yourself, I will not stop you from returning."
Qi Yi knew he could no longer delay Li Yi and the others. He then said to Li Yi, Yuanshi, and Tongtian, "I entrust my son to your care."
"Rest assured, fellow Daoist. We bid you farewell!"
With that, Li Yi turned and walked down the mountain, followed by Yuanshi and Tongtian, with Qi Chen in tow.
Qi Yi watched the four depart with reluctance in his eyes, and Qi Chen, also unwilling to leave, kept looking back.
