Chapter 127: Assassination theater Iv

[The skill Analysis has been activated.]

[Target has been identified.]

[Name: Tai Hun | Class: Mage | Special Ability: Illusion Magic (Create realistic images, spectral inventions, etc.)]

Dorian fell silent for a while, his eyes glaring as he figured out the woman was indeed as strong as he had guessed.

From where he stood, he could see her reach for the mic she had been holding and utter into it.

"Sorry for the inconvenience, but there has been an issue that I desperately need to attend to. Please, allow the guards to take over in my stead. I’ll be back soon."

As she said those words, she turned her head and began heading to the back of the stage in.

Her face was etched with anger and confusion as she kept glancing left and right, biting her nails in the process.

She could definitely sense something was wrong; many of the soldiers she had created using her illusion magic had been destroyed by something, and she couldn’t tell what they were or how...

Infuriated as she was, the veiled woman knew at some point she would need to go alert the Head Master about the current issue.

There was a chance the underground room had intruders.

Or at least, she was partially right.

The moment she crossed the curtains and arrived at the back of the stage, Seraphina grabbed her by the hair and pushed her to the ground.

Almost immediately, Seraphina pinned her down with her foot while Maria pointed her blade at the woman’s face, threatening to slice her neck if she were to make any sudden movement.

Shocked as to how she was suddenly on the ground, all she could do was stare for a while, eyes widened, only breaking free after she heard Dorian’s voice.

"Hi there. You must be a Mage. What’s your name? Ah, sorry, I know that already." Dorian had his arms folded and his back resting on the wall. "Tai Hun, was it?"

"Wha- who are you?" Tai furrowed her brow, her purple eyes glowing underneath her veil.

Maria suddenly spoke before Dorian could respond.

"Lord Dorian, the nobles have all been killed. No one escaped. And Lord Foriam has been secured as well."

Tai Hun’s eyes widened even more after hearing what Maria said.

Mainly for two reasons: one, the nobles were dead, and two, the man standing before her was Lord Dorian of the Aurelian barony.

No one within the dukedom was ignorant of that name, mainly because after he started his public trade of dragon iron ores, news had begun spreading pretty fast amongst the people.

They said he was used to performing miracles and even went on to say there was a chance he would be richer than the king himself in the nearest future.

Of course, all these were just rumors built on speculation.

The real news behind his name was the fact he had more than one Lord-rank serving under him, a rare rank that had not been seen for centuries.

Using her brain, she put two and two together and also realized the two women beside him might be the Lord-ranks under him.

Nothing else could explain why they were so quick to kill off her entire illusions and also pin her to the ground with no stress.

On the other hand, Dorian nodded his head in acknowledgment after Maria informed him about the success of the assassination team.

There was little to no noise made, which only meant the nobles didn’t know what hit them until it was done.

Also, the fact the guards hadn’t made a ruckus yet must also mean they must have been killed just as quickly.

Which only leaves the elves, unattended to and injured.

"Seraphina, be a dear and check up on the elves for me. Gather them, since they will be following us back to the barony as well."

"Yes, I’ll go do that right now."

Seraphina lifted her foot from Tai Hun’s back and then bowed her head before walking away to assist the soldiers in attending to the elves.

Once she was gone, Tai Hun smiled at Dorian, a warm yet cunning smile.

"So you are the Dorian Aurelian. News of you spreads fast. Who would have thought this is how we’d run into each other, uhn..."

Dorian had a straight expression on his face that soon broke as he pointed at Tai Hun while looking at Maria.

"Is she talking to me?"

"Yes."

"That can’t be right. I must be doing something wrong..."

Tai Hun didn’t understand why he asked that, so she tried to speak again, this time with an even bigger smile on her face. "Come now, don’t act all-"

But before she could complete her sentence-

BAM!

Dorian kicked her in the face, the underside of his boot tattooed on her cheek upon impact.

Not only did blood spew from her mouth, but a tooth fell out as well.

Her expression grew with even more shock after that. There was no way Dorian had just stomped her in the face.

How could a man think to lay his hands on her? A woman? Her disgust grew as the thoughts flooded her mind.

But she wasn’t given the time to speak again before Dorian grabbed her by the throat while bending in front of her.

He paused, looking at the fear growing in her eyes even though he didn’t attempt to remove her veil.

Then he spoke calmly.

"I know Baron Foriam is considered the one in charge of this entire hellhole, but that can’t be the whole story. Even if he was in charge, a powerful Mage must have been the one pulling the strings. But that isn’t even the question I need you to answer right now-"

He tightened his grip around her neck, causing her to choke a bit.

"Elves are highly intelligent creatures. I refuse to believe it was that easy for you guys to abduct this many of them without raising any type of alarm. So tell me, how did you do it? Hmm? Go on, you have all the time in the world to speak right now."
