Chapter 269: 269 doubt_1
Zero Egg: "Framing the Mech King? What did the Mech King do wrong this time!"
But no matter how bewildered Zero Egg felt, Wen Jiang already had some calculations in her mind.
She did not rush to find the Mech King. After selling her own cards, her sales volume for that month indeed exceeded the Mech King’s, taking first place.
This posed no challenge for Wen Jiang.
Her mechanical-style deck quickly swept through the Xi Zhou competition arena, and its usage rate in card game events exceeded that of the Demon Race Double Change Card.
The Demon Race Double Change Cards Wen Jiang created were irreplaceable in the B-Level arena, just like the Moon Palace Card Set. Now, the Mechanical Angels could finally dominate. The people of Xi Zhou, who had been stifling their grievances for some time, seemed to finally find an outlet for release.
Although the cards originated from Ceylon Cemetery, an unsavory place, reliable sources revealed that the Card Maker was a person from Xi Zhou.
For those in Xi Zhou who managed to suppress Yunxia’s cards, the name Helena quickly amassed a throng of fervent fans.
Some even traveled to Ceylon Cemetery, hoping to witness Helena’s grace.
Wen Jiang had joined numerous groups on her phone, where discussions about the Mechanical Angel style could occasionally be seen.
The changes in competition decks would also affect Mount Flower. There had been many incidents at Mount Flower recently, but Tan Heming’s situation still couldn’t be kept secret and was leaked.
Mountain Ghost had played two matches in the past few days, and Tan Heming hadn’t participated in either. Coupled with some internal leaks, the disappearance of Tan Heming’s spiritual power could no longer be concealed.
Even though the official announcement from Mountain Ghost stated that his spiritual power was only temporarily affected, this scandal would not be easily quelled.
Temporary—but who knew how long "temporary" would last?
"Mountain Ghost can’t suppress this anymore. I heard the higher-ups are also investigating the cause of Tan Heming’s incident." Yan Moling’s call to Wen Jiang was grave. "Wen Jiang, this matter is more serious than we thought. Tan Heming’s spiritual power has been sealed for a month, and no way to lift it has been found. This already exceeds the power of a card."
"It’s not just the Mountain Ghost Association that’s worried now." The concern extended to the entirety of Yunxia.
The fact that someone could seal another’s spiritual power with a card was a terrifying prospect.
"The higher-ups sent me to check on Tan Heming. He seems to be holding up mentally," Yan Moling said with concern, "but others are starting to lose their composure."
Wen Jiang pursed her lips and said nothing.
She had just heard about it and perhaps initially thought Tan Heming would recover his spiritual power quickly. Since even Tang Qian knew, it showed that insiders hadn’t kept it very secret. With Fiend instigating trouble, it was bound to be exposed sooner or later.
If he still hadn’t recovered, then the suppression he faced was likely equivalent to Hua Zhuo’s.
In that case, this matter couldn’t be unrelated to Yu Jian.
Relying solely on a card, one couldn’t achieve such a thing.
Previously, someone using a B-Rank Beast Clan Double Change Card to curse the Xie Family in an attempt to target Wen Jiang was a similar situation.
The situation was more serious than she had expected. Wen Jiang simply asked, "They haven’t caught the person who harmed Tan Heming?"
"No, the culprit has probably already fled back to Ceylon Cemetery." Yan Moling paused. They had planted people in Ceylon Cemetery, but this was an internal secret not suitable to tell Wen Jiang. He only added, "We currently don’t have a firm grasp of the whole situation. If we put too much obvious pressure on Ceylon Cemetery, I’m afraid it will trigger other incidents."
Tan Heming’s identity posed an awkward dilemma. A major mobilization for his sake would incite international strife, while failing to pressure Ceylon Cemetery would allow Fiend’s outrageous arrogance to go unchecked. Moreover, the technique of suppressing spiritual power posed a significant threat to the Nobility. Now, apart from official authorities and the military, no one was willing to actively confront Fiend.
After a moment’s pause, Wen Jiang asked, "What conflict is there between Fiend and Mountain Ghost?"
Yan Moling pondered for a long while before replying, "Logically speaking, there shouldn’t be much conflict."
The move against Tan Heming was baffling; Fiend’s core purpose in doing this was unclear.
"We also asked Tan Heming. He’s always had a good temperament, reputation, and public image. He shouldn’t have any enemies."
Risking exposure to target Tan Heming seemed like a losing proposition. Even with Mountain Ghost boasting a Black Tortoise this year, their hopes of winning the world championship had only increased by about twenty percent. Besides, a world championship was trivial to Fiend; they didn’t care about such things.
At this, Yan Moling sighed. "In a few days, people might be dispatched to Ceylon Cemetery."
Wen Jiang raised an eyebrow. "Directly into the enemy’s lair?"
"We’re not the only ones going; the Sanctuary and Frost Moon will also send support. The nature of this matter is serious. If such a technique can target Tan Heming, wouldn’t participants from other countries be fearful?"
Fiend had crossed a line with this move. Neither Sanctuary nor Frost Moon could afford to remain indifferent and merely watch Yunxia deal with it alone.
"That’s true," Wen Jiang conceded.
Aside from Hua Zhuo, no one knew of Wen Jiang’s current presence in Ceylon Cemetery. However, Yan Moling was an official, and while it seemed unnecessary for him to share such details with Wen Jiang, the sudden phone call made her suspect he was probing for something. Although Wen Jiang hadn’t officially left Mount Flower’s A-Rank Group, her disappearance immediately after the competition and her absence from subsequent training matches would surely have given an insider like Yan Moling access to more information, likely leading to his suspicion.
The following matters were ones Yan Moling couldn’t disclose. Just before hanging up, he suddenly asked with a hint of a smile, "Hey, have you heard about a Xi Zhou Card Maker named Helena lately? Her B-Level Mechanical Angel Deck has caused quite a stir there, supposedly shaking the position of your B-Rank Beast Clan Double Change Card."
Wen Jiang laughed, unflustered. "Really? Would someone of your level even pay attention to a B-Level Card Maker?"
"She’s not just B-Level. According to intelligence, she’s an A-Level Card Maker."
"That has nothing to do with me." Wen Jiang’s tone revealed nothing. "I never pay attention to other Card Makers."
Such a provocative statement. Knowing her personality, Yan Moling chuckled. "Understood. I’ll take it as casual talk."
After she hung up, Zero Egg was incredulous. "Why would the conversation suddenly turn to that? Does he suspect you?"
Wen Jiang replied, "Perhaps he does."
Zero Egg was even more shocked. "A Card Maker from Xi Zhou named Helena! By all accounts, that should have nothing to do with you. So why does he suspect you?"
Wen Jiang explained, "The timing is too coincidental. I’m not currently in Yunxia, and Helena appears. As an ’acquaintance,’ his suspicion is understandable. Besides, he might know I’m in Ceylon Cemetery."
Zero Egg, a System itself, shivered. "You humans are truly terrifying, able to guess so accurately! Could this affect you in any way?"
Wen Jiang replied, "It won’t."
At least, Yan Moling wouldn’t.
