Chapter 182: Chapter 182: Not Taking the Blame
Old Yuan finished speaking, hands behind his back, and slowly made his way back home.
Originally, he wanted to say more. But in the end, he chose to leave some words unsaid, because Yuan Zhaodi and Mrs. Xiao Li are a married couple, they are two peas in a pod.
People often say, in a marriage, fights happen at the head of the bed but are reconciled at the foot.
If the two of them patch things up in a few days, he’d end up looking bad for intervening.
When Old Yuan returned home, Mrs. Zeng eagerly grabbed his sleeve and asked, "You didn’t say anything reckless, did you?"
No doubt they are a couple, Mrs. Zeng knows her husband quite well.
"I didn’t say anything reckless, do you think I would?"
Old Yuan glanced at Mrs. Zeng, "I just scolded the fourth a bit and gave him some pointers."
"Sigh!"
Old Yuan sat down, sighed, and looked at Mrs. Zeng, "Do you know what? I just discovered today that our fourth, he seems like we’ve taught him to be foolish!"
"What?!"
Mrs. Zeng’s eyes widened, the fourth has been taught to be foolish?
Old Yuan continued, roughly outlining the conversation he just had with Yuan Zhaodi.
"Wife, do you think we’ve taught the fourth to be foolish?"
Old Yuan never imagined, his son, who seemed smart and sensible, could be so clueless about the dynamics between couples.
"Old man, if you put it that way, do you mean the way things have turned out between the fourth and his wife is our fault?"
Although Mrs. Zeng was also quite surprised, she was even more displeased.
She didn’t have just one son; all five sons were raised the same way, so why isn’t anyone else like the fourth? She’s not taking the blame for this.
"That’s not what I’m saying!"
Old Yuan thought for a moment, then said slowly, "The way they are is partly their own problem, we can’t say it’s entirely our fault."
While feeling quite guilty, Old Yuan also didn’t think he and his wife should bear the main responsibility.
Yuan Bao was awake by then, overhearing her grandparents’ conversation, she started pondering over the issue as well.
However, she only thought about it for a short while before dismissing it.
Solving family matters is never easy!
She’s just an early maturing kid, still figuring out her own matters, hardly having the energy to concern herself with others’.
"Jiaojiao, you’re awake, are you hungry?"
As Yuan Bao woke up, Mrs. Zeng promptly ended her conversation with Old Yuan and turned her attention to her precious granddaughter.
"Grandma, I’m hungry!"
By now the sun was high in the sky, and Yuan Bao was indeed hungry.
"The millet porridge is cold, and the egg pancakes are a bit chilly too, I’ll heat them up for you!"
Mrs. Zeng immediately took the millet porridge and egg pancakes, heading straight to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, Mrs. Peng was still preparing breakfast. Seeing Mrs. Zeng come in, Mrs. Peng quickly rose with a smile to greet her.
"Third daughter’s-in-law, how long till the meal is ready?"
"It’ll be ready soon!"
Mrs. Peng quickly responded, she’s often in the kitchen and could easily tell that Mrs. Zeng was about to reheat the millet porridge and egg pancakes.
"Mom, I’ve made fresh millet porridge, why don’t you serve a bowl and let Jiaojiao eat it first?"
Millet porridge that’s been reheated tastes nowhere near as good as when it’s freshly made.
Mrs. Peng’s suggestion undoubtedly made Mrs. Zeng look at her favorably.
"Alright!"
Mrs. Zeng considered it for a moment and accepted her third daughter-in-law’s kind offer.
It’s just a bowl of millet porridge, nothing to make a fuss about.
With fresh millet porridge just off the stove, the taste and texture are naturally top-notch. The only downside is the egg pancakes; they either need to be steamed again or made anew.
