Chapter 79. Leon’s office

Chapter 79: 79. Leon’s office

Riki couldn’t believe what he was seeing. How could the murderer, or the perpetrator of that brutal killing, be the same person who had asked Leon to find Ivana?

Jack Handerson.

The cunning man who seemed to be filled with a dark aura was actually at Leon’s place. He kept telling Leon that he was very sad and couldn’t believe that someone he considered his own sister had been killed so brutally. In fact, it was Jack himself who had killed Ivana, through thugs who formed a gang. In reality, the gang itself belonged to Jack and was formed by Jack for his own personal interests.

For half an hour, Riki remained silent. Watching the man act in front of Leon, the man came with his wife, who also acted as if they were the most innocent creatures in the world.

After they finally left, saying they were very busy, Riki laughed out loud.

He had been holding back from laughing at the two people’s terrible acting.

Leon turned to Riki, "Why are you laughing? If you’re tired, make some coffee, because after this it’s your turn to be questioned, because you have great potential to be a perpetrator too, even though I know it’s not you, but you have to be careful..." said Leon, pointing to where to make coffee with a gesture of his hand.

Riki stood up from his seat. He was also getting tired of watching the disgusting acting. He felt like throwing up.

So he made coffee with the coffee machine in Leon’s room. Riki was quite surprised to see that the ingredients for making various types of coffee were very complete there. There was creamer, milk, and others.

"Are you sure you don’t suspect those two, Leon? I’m sure you’re not that stupid, right?" asked Riki.

Leon stopped writing and turned to Riki. He watched Riki trying to make coffee mixed with creamer and milk.

"You realized it too?" asked Leon.

Riki snorted. He knew that for ordinary people who didn’t know the truth, it would be difficult to figure out who the real culprit was.

However, after Riki found out, it turned out that the clue was that close.

"So, you already know that the perpetrator is that man, Leon?" asked Riki.

Leon shrugged, then massaged his temples.

"I feel like he must be the perpetrator, but there is no strong evidence, Riki. I also don’t know what his real motive is."

Riki, who had finished making coffee for himself, sat back down in front of Leon.

"You already have a good clue, and what did you say earlier, motive? The only one who had a motive to kill Ivana was him. It couldn’t have been her boyfriend, who was the director of the film. I heard the story from my friend who was about to shoot a film with him. And they said that he was successful because he had a sponsor. It’s clear that he is Ivana’s sponsor, as well as the CEO or owner of the entertainment agency that manages her. Just so you know, one of the girls at my college is his girlfriend, or you could say his mistress. Jack Handerson, and my college friend is very proud of that. She replaced Ivana when she was removed," said Riki.

Leon laughed after hearing Riki’s explanation, then he sipped his own cold coffee until the glass was empty.

There was a loud sound when Leon put his coffee cup on the table, but Riki remained calm, staring at the man in his thirty who still looked young.

"So Riki... wait a minute, can you make me a coffee like yours too? It looks good."

Riki sighed irritably, but he reached for Leon’s cup anyway.

"I’m a guest, you know? You shouldn’t treat me like this," protested Riki.

"If you don’t want to, you don’t have to make me coffee."

"It’s too late to say that!"

Leon laughed when he heard Riki complaining like that.

A few moments later, there was only silence. Until Riki finished making the same coffee as his, then sat back down in front of Leon.

"Thank you, Riki."

Leon sipped his coffee, surprised that it wasn’t as sweet as he thought it would be. It was just right and delicious.

Leon was sure that no cafe had ever made coffee as delicious as this. In fact, Riki seemed to make it carelessly.

"Riki, how about you open a coffee shop—"

"Back to the original topic, Leon! We’re talking about Jack Handerson. I don’t want any more victims besides Ivana. And I also don’t want to suddenly be accused myself. Because my position is not pleasant, we have to resolve this quickly. And so you can focus on helping me."

Leon nodded, "Okay, okay, Riki... I know teenagers like you are impatient."

"I don’t think I’m a teenager anymore, I’m 21 years old," replied Riki irritably.

"Wow! You’re still that age and already that tall? The average height for men in our country is only 175 cm."

"Stop going off topic, Leon!"

Leon chuckled at Riki’s annoyance. It was very funny to see Riki’s sulky face.

"Okay, Riki, let’s get serious now. So, tell me how you know he’s the culprit when that’s the only clue you have?"

Riki raised an eyebrow, "Oh, didn’t you know right away even though you said there was no evidence?"

Leon clicked his tongue in annoyance because Riki was so good at responding to his words.

"Okay, we may have the same instincts, but... are you really sure?"

"So you called me because you wanted to be convinced? I heard you can hack."

Leon was surprised to hear this. "How did you find out? Did Zeno tell you?"

Riki shook his head. "That’s not important, Leon. Just use your skills to investigate it. I suggest hacking into the agency’s security system, especially the CCTV footage from before Ivana disappeared. You’re a detective, so I’m sure you understand better than I do, right? I know you’re not afraid of that man, because you have an uncle who is the third richest man in the country, so obviously you won’t be afraid of a man who is ranked tenth, right?"

Leon was silent, not expecting Riki to say all that to him. Then he scratched his neck and said,

"Actually, I called you here because I want your help, Riki. I’m sure that before she was thrown into the sea, Ivana boarded the yacht she rented with her boyfriend. That’s what her manager said, and the only way to confirm it is to see the yacht for myself. But I think the manager is lying. It’s possible that all the evidence points to the wrong person. Even Ivana’s post on the yacht with her boyfriend is very strange. Because I contacted her boyfriend, or ex-boyfriend, the director. It turns out that he and Ivana had broken up after the director found out that Ivana had a sponsor. The yacht is near your mansion. You know there’s a yacht rental place there, right? But after hearing your opinion, I don’t think I’ll focus my investigation there. Thank you for your help. I might call you again if I need to."

Riki leaned back in his chair, sipping his drink casually.

"That’s it? You’re explaining it too much. But I understand what you mean. I think they did work together to kill Ivana. I heard Ivana had life insurance too."

"But you said your college friend is his current girlfriend?" Leon asked.

Riki nodded, "Yes, she approached that man because she needed a lot of money and I think she wanted to be famous like Ivana, in an instant way."

Leon grinned, "Can you give me her number? I think I should approach her."

Riki nodded, then wrote down a number for Leon, which he had memorized.

"That’s her number. Actually, she’s my ex-girlfriend. We broke up because she cheated on me, but she also cheated on her lover with that ugly old man," said Riki.

Leon laughed when he heard that, then fell silent as he read what Riki had written. Not only did Riki give him her phone number, he also gave him Hannah’s social media account name.

"You don’t mind if I approach her?"

Riki shrugged, "I don’t have a problem with that, because she and I don’t have any relationship anymore. In fact, I hope you can open her eyes, even though she hurt me deeply, but I don’t want her to suffer the same fate as Ivana."

Leon smiled, then patted Riki on the shoulder.

"You’re a very nice young man, Riki. Gosh, if only I had a younger sister your age, I would definitely set you up with her—oh, wait, I do. Would you like to meet my younger cousin? She’s very pretty."

Riki stood up from his seat, "I don’t need a girlfriend right now. I’m just going to focus on my work."

"Oh, what a pity, Riki... if you became a member of the Raynold family, it would be so much fun."

Riki just clicked his tongue lazily in response to Leon’s words.

[You have completed your second mission today!]

[Your reward is +2 to all stats and ownership of the Oceanica Hotel]

[You have earned 3 system points]

Riki felt like he had heard of that hotel before. But did he really get the hotel? Was it just a partial stake?

[No, you have obtained ownership of a hotel, because the hotel was sold]

A hotel that big was sold? And Riki could own it? That’s crazy.
