Chapter 321: Chapter 321 No Ring
An Junxi was brought back to the headquarters by Gu Yikun. He didn’t even let her go to Wanling Entertainment and kept her in his office.
An Junxi sat on the sofa sulking. Secretary Wang poured her some warm water, but she didn’t want to drink it. "Secretary Wang, I’m not thirsty."
Gu Yikun glanced at her from behind his desk while signing some documents. "The set is a mess. I’m worried you’ll get hurt."
An Junxi didn’t want to engage, "I’m going home to see my daughter."
Gu Yikun put down his pen, "Xi Xi, be good."
An Junxi crossed her arms, "Why should I be ’good’? This is just your male chauvinism!"
Secretary Wang tried to appease her, "Madam, the President was supposed to play golf with the East River Group’s board today, but he canceled his plans because you were going to the set... Please try to understand the President."
An Junxi stared at Secretary Wang, saying nothing.
Secretary Wang’s expression stiffened, "Maybe I should get back to work."
An Junxi stopped her, "Secretary Wang, when did you buy your necklace? It’s very pretty."
Secretary Wang touched her necklace, "This? The President gave it to me."
"When did he give it to you?"
If she wasn’t mistaken, she had seen this necklace in his lounge before.
He used to keep gifts in the lounge cabinet, but he had only given her a few before she left Yan City.
After she came back, she checked his lounge—it was empty. Those gifts were all gone, and she never had the chance to ask him.
The total value of those items was enough to buy a luxury apartment in the center of Yan City. Did he give them all to Secretary Wang?
Secretary Wang wasn’t sure if she should speak. Seeing that the President’s expression didn’t change, she decided to be honest. "Two years ago, not long after the President was discharged, he gave them to me when the office and lounge were being renovated."
She knew these items were meant for the Madam. Unfortunately, the Madam left then, and the President didn’t want to keep things that reminded him of her, so he generously gave them to her.
It was exactly as An Junxi had thought.
She recalled the scar on Gu Yikun’s chest, which made her heart ache. Those gloomy days must have been unbearable for him.
She was no longer angry. Yikun’s feelings for her were deeper than she had imagined.
Secretary Wang saw that An Junxi wasn’t happy, "Some items haven’t even been unwrapped. Should I bring them back to you?"
"No need," An Junxi said, "What’s given to you is yours. Consider it an employee benefit."
Secretary Wang, afraid of saying too much, quickly said a thanks to Madam and left.
An Junxi sat on the sofa in a daze. Recently, her focus had been on Wanling Entertainment, and it felt like she had neglected him.
Gu Yikun finished reviewing a document and sat next to her, naturally pulling her into his arms, "Are you really mad? The gifts to Secretary Wang weren’t anything valuable. If there’s something you like, I can get it for you."
"No need."
"That’s true. After all, I belong to you wholly. What’s mine is yours. Saying ’gifting’ feels too formal."
An Junxi was irritated, "You’re still missing the most important gift."
"What is it?" Gu Yikun genuinely seemed clueless.
An Junxi wanted to knock him out.
She waved her empty hand in front of him, "What do you think?" It’s the ring!
Not having a wedding is one thing, but there should at least be a ring!
Gu Yikun finally understood and kissed the back of her hand, "You want a bracelet?"
An Junxi was exasperated.
She collapsed on the sofa, "Don’t bother with me anymore. Just let me be."
Gu Yikun held her in his arms, "How can I not care about you? I’ll buy you a bracelet tomorrow."
An Junxi bit him, "I don’t want it!"
"Why don’t you want it now? Xi Xi, stop being difficult."
An Junxi was on the verge of tears. Was Gu Yikun deliberately trying to upset her?
She turned away, ignoring him, "Go do your work. Leave me alone."
Gu Yikun wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her frail shoulder, suggesting, "Xi Xi, I’ll give you whatever you want."
An Junxi wasn’t appeased. She was deeply frustrated that he needed her reminder to think about giving her a ring!
For several days, An Junxi accompanied Gu Yikun to the company. In the evening, Ai Xi Baby complained, "Daddy, Mommy, are you going out to play?"
An Junxi comforted her, "Ai Xi, be good. Daddy and Mommy have to work."
"What’s work?"
"Working hard so we can buy you pretty dresses."
"I don’t want dresses, I want Mommy."
An Junxi’s heart melted. She felt so guilty towards her baby.
Gu Yikun wished he could bring his daughter to the office. He picked her up and put her on his shoulder. Gu Aixi tugged at his hair, shouting, "So high, so fun!"
Gu Yikun said, "Baby, don’t pull Daddy’s hair."
"Okay," Baby changed to tugging his ears, "Like this, Daddy?"
An Junxi laughed so hard she bent over, and Gu Yikun, seeing his wife laughing heartily, placed their daughter on An Junxi, "Let Mommy try."
An Junxi held their daughter, "You’re sitting on my tummy, it’s uncomfortable."
Gu Yikun lay down beside her, Ai Xi Baby climbed onto his chest, and the three of them tangled together playfully.
Gu Jinxiu, in his sports attire, stood at the door, envious of his sister who could play on their father’s chest without making him angry.
An Junxi saw Jinxiu at the door and waved him in, "Getting ready for martial arts practice? Let your Daddy practice with you."
Gu Jinxiu’s little face showed excitement, "Can I?"
An Junxi nudged Gu Yikun’s arm, "Yikun, practice with Jinxiu."
The wife had spoken, and Mr. Gu dared not disobey. He put down his daughter and went to change clothes, "Alright."
Ai Xi Baby asked, "Brother, do you have to study?"
Gu Jinxiu struck a fighting pose, "I’m going to practice martial arts with Daddy!"
Ai Xi Baby didn’t know what martial arts was, but seeing her brother look so powerful, she gave him a thumbs up, "Brother, you’re awesome!"
Gu Jinxiu, feeling his sister’s admiration, tied his belt and proudly said, "Ai Xi, I’ll protect you in the future."
An Junxi praised him, "Jinxiu, you have the demeanor of an elder brother!"
Gu Yikun emerged in his sportswear, patting his son’s little shoulder, "Let’s go."
Ai Xi Baby gave her Daddy and brother a kiss. She then patted Mommy, "Mommy, kiss too."
Gu Yikun thought, what a thoughtful daughter, always thinking of ways to benefit her Daddy.
He leaned his face closer, and An Junxi gave them each a kiss. Only then did father and son head to the gym beside the golf course.
An Junxi started early childhood education for the baby. Liang Huiyun checked on them occasionally, and after more than an hour, seeing her beloved granddaughter still studying, she couldn’t help but say, "Ai Xi, take a break. Jun Xi, shouldn’t you bring Yikun a towel?"
An Junxi knew her mother-in-law wanted to spend time with her granddaughter. The gym had towels and a bar, so there was no need for her to bring one. By now, they should’ve had enough practice, right?
She said, "Ai Xi, play with Grandma for a while. Mommy will go check on Daddy and brother."
Ai Xi Baby also wanted to see Daddy and brother. She grabbed her little bag, "I want to go!"
