Chapter 211: Chapter 207: Taking Advantage of My Soft Spot for You (Part 2)
"Then take a few more bites." Hanhan seized the opportunity.
Xixi bit her pink lower lip, looking conflicted at the white dough in her hand, and whispered, "But what if I don’t want to eat anymore?"
Hanhan shrugged, "It’s simple, there won’t be a surprise then."
Xixi pouted in defeat, hesitated for a while, then decisively opened her little mouth wide and took a big bite of the white dough.
As Xixi bit, three pairs of eyes were fixated on her.
A few seconds later, Xixi suddenly exclaimed, "There’s candy inside, a big piece."
"Pfft..." Jin Jumo couldn’t help but smile, pressing her lips together.
Hanhan turned his little head to one side, his shoulders shaking, clearly laughing too.
The certain someone driving the car had a stern expression, his thin lips tightly pressed.
Xixi carefully took out a small square of candy and held it between her pale fingertips, like a curious baby, and studied it thoroughly, quietly muttering, "This is the surprise Brother talked about."
Just as Xixi was about to feed the candy into her mouth, the man who had been silently pressing his lips opened his mouth, "There’s a breakfast store ahead, I’ll buy some breakfast."
After speaking, the car stopped by the roadside, the man frowned, and methodically unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car.
Watching the man stride toward the breakfast store, his back straight, Jin Jumo’s bright eyes gradually dimmed.
Xixi, not understanding, fed the candy into her mouth with a crunch.
Watching Xixi and Hanhan being led into the classroom by the teacher, Jin Jumo replaced her gentle expression with a calm one and looked at Rong Mochen, "Mr. Rong, do you have time?"
Rong Mochen slightly startled, looking at her, "What?"
"If Mr. Rong has time, I’d like to talk to you," Jin Jumo said.
Rong Mochen squinted his eyes.
A café near the kindergarten.
Jin Jumo ordered a cup of juice and looked at Rong Mochen, "What will Mr. Rong have?"
"My tastes are the same as before." Rong Mochen said, staring intently at her.
Jin Jumo’s expression remained unchanged, she told the server, "Black coffee, please."
The server nodded and left.
Upon hearing Jin Jumo say "black coffee," Rong Mochen’s eyes flickered with a hint of joy, his lips lightly pressed, and his tone softened, "What do you want to talk about?"
"About Xixi and Hanhan’s registration issue," Jin Jumo said.
Rong Mochen’s gaze deepened, "Oh?"
Jin Jumo stared at him, "Xixi and Hanhan have not been registered since birth, and now the two children are four years old; solving the registration issue can no longer be delayed, otherwise, it will affect Xixi and Hanhan’s normal schooling."
Rong Mochen didn’t speak, his gaze firmly locked on Jin Jumo.
Jin Jumo took a light breath, looking frankly at Rong Mochen, "At present, Mr. Rong seems to really want to be a good father. Xixi and Hanhan are your blood; it’s a truth I can’t hide. Since you are the children’s father, it’s most appropriate for you to handle the registration issue."
Rong Mochen’s brows furrowed deeply, his voice suddenly hoarse, "I am duty-bound."
Jin Jumo nodded, "In that case, I’ll leave it to you."
"I fear I can’t do it alone." Rong Mochen gazed at her wistfully.
Jin Jumo raised her eyebrows, looking at Rong Mochen, "There are things Mr. Rong can’t do?"
Rong Mochen’s Adam’s apple gently moved, "I need a wife."
Jin Jumo smiled, but said nothing.
"You are the children’s biological mother; being my wife is a role more fitting than any other," Rong Mochen continued.
Jin Jumo’s gaze tightened, and she gently curled her lips, "But I don’t want that role."
"Someone has to take it on." Rong Mochen pressed his lips, "If you won’t, do you intend for another woman to become your children’s mother?"
"Certainly not." Jin Jumo tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, smiling brightly, "Mr. Rong is Mr. Rong, I am me, others are others. I don’t stop Mr. Rong from recognizing Xixi and Hanhan because your blood flows through them; the blood ties cannot be erased."
"To register Xixi and Hanhan, I need a wife; you refuse, and won’t allow anyone else to do it, what is the solution?" Rong Mochen looked at her.
"Please don’t misunderstand, Mr. Rong; who you marry doesn’t concern me in the slightest. I agreed to let Xixi and Hanhan recognize you with conditions," Jin Jumo said.
Whatever she said went unheard by Rong Mochen, except the words "I don’t care at all."
His knuckles tightened, Rong Mochen stared intently at Jin Jumo with repressed gaze.
"Xixi and Hanhan must live with me, I am Xixi and Hanhan’s only mother," Jin Jumo said firmly, looking at Rong Mochen.
"Do you think I would agree?" Rong Mochen scoffed coldly.
"If Mr. Rong doesn’t agree, then just pretend I didn’t say anything today." Jin Jumo’s face suddenly turned cold as she stood up, "It seems there’s nothing more to discuss with Mr. Rong."
After speaking, Jin Jumo coldly turned around, ready to leave the café.
But after just a few steps, her arm was grabbed from behind. Her whole body spun in place and she was pulled back, standing beside the coffee table.
Jin Jumo’s face turned slightly pale, yet her stubborn eyes fixed on him as she bit her lip and smiled coldly, "Mr. Rong still has something to say?"
Rong Mochen’s hand firmly holding Jin Jumo’s arm gradually increased in pressure, with his handsome face coldly facing her, "Are you acting fearlessly because you think I can’t bear to do anything to you?"
Jin Jumo furrowed her brow, glanced at her arm held tightly by him, and sneered, "Mr. Rong calls this unable to bear doing anything to me?"
Rong Mochen’s jaw tensed, staring at her mocking face. His fingers continued to apply more pressure, "Little Mo, my patience is running thin. Must I show you how cruel I can be before you’ll speak to me properly?"
"Mr. Rong’s cruel side, I witnessed it four years ago." Jin Jumo looked at him fearlessly, "So Mr. Rong, what more do you want to do to me?"
Rong Mochen’s pupils tightened sharply, his features marked by restrained frustration, "So, you think I’ve been doing well these four years?"
"Mr. Rong hasn’t been doing well? Your business empire grows larger, you have a young and beautiful fiancée, success in both career and love." Jin Jumo said indifferently.
As she finished speaking, her hand was suddenly grabbed by the man and pulled to his heartbeat, which was rapid and intense, his chest heaving violently.
Jin Jumo’s long, dark eyelashes quivered as she held her breath slightly, watching his tense face.
"You will never understand..." Rong Mochen’s voice was rough, staring at Jin Jumo with eyes like sharp blades.
She couldn’t understand what, he didn’t say.
Jin Jumo gazed at his face mixed with a trace of pain, yet her stubborn eyes showed no emotion.
"Brother Mo Chen?"
As their eyes locked in a standoff, a gentle, doubtful female voice suddenly cut through.
Jin Jumo’s brow twitched as she turned to look in the direction of the voice.
A woman dressed elegantly was frozen upon seeing her, lips parted but unable to speak.
Upon seeing the woman, a hint of annoyance flashed in Jin Jumo’s eyes. She forcefully withdrew her hand from Rong Mochen’s grasp and left the café without looking back.
The woman saw Jin Jumo leave and instinctively followed her.
Rong Mochen squinted his eyes, his voice cold, "Lingyi."
Gu Lingyi suddenly paused, turning to look at Rong Mochen with a face still shock-stricken, "Brother Mo Chen."
Rong Mochen watched outside the café, Jin Jumo had already gotten into a taxi and drove away, then turned his gaze back indifferently to Gu Lingyi.
Gu Lingyi squeezed her palm, forcing herself to snap out of it, and slowly walked toward Rong Mochen, raising her slightly pale face to look at him, her voice fragile, "Brother Mo Chen, can you tell me who that woman was just now?"
Rong Mochen’s eyes turned cold, "Lingyi, somethings and some people are not for you to know."
"But I want to know." Gu Lingyi said softly, her voice carrying suspicion, "Looking at her, it’s like seeing another version of myself. How can we be so alike?"
Rong Mochen frowned.
Gu Lingyi’s mind was muddled, she shook her head hard, noticed the faint impatience on Rong Mochen’s face, and promptly reached out and took his hand, "By the way, Brother Mo Chen, why are you here?"
Rong Mochen looked at her and suddenly said, "Lingyi, sometimes there is a fine line between being clever and being foolish."
"..." Gu Lingyi’s expression changed repeatedly, lowering her eyelashes, her words stumbling, "Last night I asked your assistant to tell you to come to the hotel to find me later, did he forget to tell you?"
Rong Mochen calmly withdrew his hand, coldly putting it into his pocket, "He told me."
Gu Lingyi’s eyes clearly showed hurt, "Then why didn’t you come to find me?"
Rong Mochen stared at her, his deep gaze sharp as if it could penetrate someone.
Gu Lingyi felt a tremor in her heart, slowly retrieved her hand and tightly pinched her fingertips, "Then maybe Brother Mo Chen returned too late after his social engagements and found it inconvenient to visit me."
Rong Mochen pressed his lips and didn’t respond.
Gu Lingyi’s eyes inexplicably reddened, she looked at Rong Mochen, her voice filled with grievance, "This morning I went to find Brother Mo Chen, but you had already left. Last night, last night, Brother Mo Chen left me alone at the airport, weren’t you worried I might encounter bad people?"
Rong Mochen said in a low voice, "Your father wouldn’t bear to leave you in danger without care."
Gu Lingyi’s eyes contracted slightly, unsure, "Brother Mo Chen, why did you say that?"
Rong Mochen faintly curled his lips but said nothing.
Gu Lingyi sighed, "After you left last night, I was so scared that I called my daddy. In the end, it was my daddy’s friend in S City who picked me up and took me to the hotel."
Rong Mochen listened indifferently without commenting.
Gu Lingyi glanced at him, cautiously linking her arm through his, "Brother Mo Chen, I’ve never been here before. Before coming, I heard that S City has many fun places. Can you take me to play?"
Rong Mochen barely furrowed his brows, "If you want to play, I’ll have someone take you."
