Chapter 467: If things really come to that, rip out that unfilial daughter’s heart and give it to Lily.
Titus Zane laughed and said, "I thought I had inherited your genes."
Letting go of Titus Zane’s hand, Ariana Evans raised her hands in front of her and sighed, "Dammit, these hands of mine, good only for holding a scalpel, how could they ever partake in such refined art!"
Although Ariana Evans was clearly lamenting, Titus Zane read a hint of disdain for art in the slight upward turn of her lips, especially with her soft, derisive snort at the end.
Even though Ariana Evans had instructed the kitchen to prepare a sumptuous dinner, Titus Zane did not stay to eat because her father, Julian Zane, came home early from work and entered the house.
Titus Zane stood up and called out "Dad," but seeing only her, Julian Zane just glanced over and snorted coldly before heading upstairs.
Titus Zane had always been aware that she wasn’t as pleasing to her father as her sister Olivia Zane, but she couldn’t understand why he disliked her so much. If the information Jon gave her was true, and her mother risked her life to build a kingdom for her father, out of respect for her mother’s face, her father should treat her well instead of being hostile.
Therefore, after Julian Zane came home from work, Titus Zane claimed she still had things to do and promptly left.
Ariana Evans stood at the doorway of the villa, watching Titus Zane walk away until she disappeared into the distance before turning back inside.
Julian Zane had already changed into his house clothes and was sitting on the sofa, reading the financial news in the newspaper.
"Julian, what was that attitude just now? It’s rare for little Titus to come home."
"Hmph, as if it weren’t for her Olivia getting admitted to the hospital!" Julian Zane looked up from the newspaper with a frown, and the paper rustled loudly in his trembling hands with anger.
Mentioning Olivia’s illness prematurely, Ariana Evans sat on the sofa and sighed, "She just had a narrow escape from the gate of death this time; it’s Olivia’s good fortune. It’s all because of too much medication used back then, Olivia’s constitution is already weak, sigh... The doctor says if Olivia’s heart doesn’t get surgery soon, sooner or later..."
At this point, Ariana Evans’s voice choked up, as she cried and rambled, "Olivia is only in her twenties, how can she fall so ill, if anything happens to her, how am I supposed to live as her mother..."
"If anything happens to Olivia, let that unfilial daughter pay with her life!"
Ariana Evans paused in the act of wiping away her tears, a sharp glint flickering noticeably in her downcast eyes, she lifted her line of sight, looking pleadingly at her husband, "Julian, the doctor said Olivia could continue to live if we find a suitable donor."
"Then find one! No matter the cost, I, Julian Zane, am willing to pay. If it comes to it, take that unfilial daughter’s heart out for Olivia!"
In his intense anger, Julian Zane let out an unthinking, explosive remark.
A glimmer of joy passed through Ariana Evans’s eyes, but her face showed disapproval as she glared at her husband, "What nonsense! They are both our daughters, each one precious to us."
This brought another snort of scorn from her husband, "You’re so kind-hearted, as if you weren’t harmed enough by her mother back then!"
"Julian, I won’t allow you to speak like that. Back then, little Nora was too young and too easily swayed, and it was after being incited by others that she caused a scene at the hospital,"
"Hmph, if she hadn’t caused a scene, how would you have lost your job!" Another cold snort from Julian Zane, who had already stood up, "Enough talk, let’s eat!"
Seeing her husband’s obviously angry demeanor, Ariana Evans’s lips curled into an involuntary smirk.
As long as she got past her husband Julian Zane, what followed would be much easier to handle.
