Chapter 400: Chapter 398 Ecological Dome
Chen Xin wasn’t surprised at all that his survival points had surpassed six figures, he even found it somewhat modest.
The benefits of cooperating with the country lie here; by indirectly helping others, Chen Xin can also earn survival points. Through the country’s broad efforts to improve the survival conditions of others, he naturally acquires a vast amount of survival points.
In fact, if it weren’t for the limited production capacity of the Isotope Batteries, Chen Xin would have gained even more survival points.
This is why Chen Xin is becoming increasingly indifferent to the growth of his survival points; there’s no real need to focus too much on it. As long as he makes sure not to spend them all at once, after a few days, a large sum of survival points will be credited again.
With a substantial amount of survival points, Chen Xin has enough confidence and strength to do what he wants, without worrying about the issue of survival points.
If Chen Xin had not chosen to cooperate with the country but had instead accumulated survival points on his own, he might not have gathered as much in a year as he does in a day now.
After all, the base amount of survival points a country can provide is enormous. Even with a cap on individual transactions, the total naturally increases as the numbers go up.
As for a private shelter, no matter how well it is developed, its speed of development cannot compare to that of a country.
Chen Xin had once thought carefully that perhaps this is the true usage of the Survival System he obtained for the apocalypse.
After all, before disaster and apocalypse, personal heroism is meaningless. Only by uniting and bringing everyone’s strength together can more things be accomplished, allowing more people to survive, rather than just a few who can’t even continue civilization and species.
Chen Xin didn’t want to be the standout hero, nor did he think he could lead others. Being an auxiliary of black technology output, as he is now, actually suits him quite well.
Back when playing RPG games, Chen Xin preferred to play an auxiliary or healer role in the team, not the damage dealer or tank, and certainly didn’t want to be the team commander, even though his command ability wasn’t bad.
Now, even though Chen Xin doesn’t want to be a leader, when a large group of people revolves around him, he’s naturally put into that position, which forces him to think about the path ahead.
According to his plan, Chen Xin intends to transform the area where his home is located into an Ecological Dome.
This is not a pipe dream, nor arbitrary because of the system, but something feasible from the standpoint of current technology.
When people hear ’Ecological Dome,’ they often first think of those protective domes enveloping entire cities in science fiction novels, considering it a very advanced technological feat.
However, the concept of the Ecological Dome has been mentioned before, and humans have built similar structures long ago.
The famous Biosphere 2 experiment is essentially an Ecological Dome. It wasn’t constructed as a spherical dome but had a pyramidal structure with step-like levels.
The entire project was built in the 1980s, when technology wasn’t as advanced as it is today, so its structure couldn’t truly become a large spherical dome.
Moreover, due to various technical limitations at the time, the Biosphere 2 experiment ultimately failed, unable to achieve internal circulation without relying on external materials.
But with technological advancements, large-span spatial structures have matured, and the internal space of related buildings has become more expansive, making it feasible to construct a small Ecological Dome.
As for the ecological circulation within the Ecological Dome, if the goal is to create a completely self-contained ecosystem, without upgrades from the system, it would indeed be difficult for Chen Xin.
But if it’s just to create an environment similar to a plant greenhouse, it’s incredibly simple.
After all, the vital air and water can be supplied from the outside, maintaining the operation of the entire Ecological Dome under such conditions is not challenging.
According to Chen Xin’s design, the plan is to build a large dome approximately five hundred meters in span to cover the area before the mountain where his shelter is located.
Then, the temperature in this area will be increased and research and military facilities will be constructed within this area.
Although building a dome with a span of around five hundred meters is highly challenging, given the Flame Country’s infrastructure capabilities, it’s certainly achievable; after all, the internal spans of large airports, stations, and stadiums exceed this size.
Moreover, Chen Xin doesn’t intend to make a hemisphere placed on the ground but only plans to construct a flat-arc dome, making the construction technically less difficult than imagined, even without internal support columns.
Once there’s a relatively enclosed environment, as long as the building materials are adequately insulated and there are enough heating facilities inside, it is easy to create a sufficiently warm greenhouse environment.
As for the research base and military camp, their construction can be completed simultaneously with the dome.
With a suitable temperature and a stable supply of freshwater under the greenhouse environment, planting vegetation and building a small ecological system is not difficult.
This way, a small Ecological Dome essentially has all the necessary elements, but how to make the ecosystem self-sustaining involves too many aspects to be managed by Chen Xin alone.
Fortunately, he has the system; when the time comes, a single upgrade would solve all problems.
Even without using the system for upgrades, having the state send over a couple of biologists to assist in constructing a stable ecological system is feasible.
For Chen Xin, he certainly won’t let the powerful tool of system upgrades go unused, nor will he bury himself in hard work alone.
By then, having the country dispatch biologists to build the ecological system first, followed by using his system for upgrades and optimization himself, using both approaches, to create a comfortable Ecological Dome under ice and darkness, recreating past landscapes, would be such a delightful thing!
This Ecological Dome is not meant for enjoyment, though living in such a warm and comfortable, green ecological environment is inherently enjoyable in the current conditions; the establishment of the Ecological Dome holds significant scientific research importance as well.
Large-span spatial structures can not only be used to construct Ecological Domes, but they can also be applied to large greenhouses for planting. Small ecological cycles can create comfortable green ecological environments and help study cyclic ecological agriculture.
Using the technology to construct Ecological Domes for building greenhouses for planting can be considered utilitarian.
