Chapter 378: Chapter 378: Unspeakable Secret
The person on the other end didn’t seem tempted by Gina Sutton’s words, instead coldly throwing back, "The terms I want, you can’t afford!"
Gina was probably so infuriated that she almost smashed her phone to the ground.
However, she didn’t dare to lash out in front of the man.
She was evidently afraid of him, like someone who had a weakness held in his hands. She was clearly gnashing her teeth with hatred, yet completely helpless against him.
What was the weakness?
The person on the other end of the call seemed not even in the mood to speak more and hung up afterward.
On the balcony, the sound of Gina Sutton’s soft crying could be heard, repressed and helpless, like she was also somewhat wronged.
Summer Sutton had never seen her like this before.
Someone who was always so high and mighty, always flamboyant and domineering, could actually be threatened to tears by someone?
Gina stayed on the balcony for a long time. After coming inside, she intended to feel her way upstairs but accidentally tripped over the stair railing.
She was a bit hurt and turned on the living room lights with a snap.
As soon as they were on, she suddenly froze.
Dazed, she looked at Summer Sutton sitting in the living room, staring back at her, her mind buzzing loudly.
"You, why aren’t you asleep in the middle of the night? What are you doing down here?" Awkwardly, she asked.
Summer Sutton looked at her without expression, her gaze slowly sweeping over her features, and suddenly became sharp, "Seeing me here, Second Young Miss Sutton, are you that nervous?"
Gina’s face instantly turned white from the question.
Staring dumbly at Summer Sutton, she had no idea how to reply.
After being at a loss for a while, she tentatively asked, "Were you here all along?"
"Yes! From the moment Second Young Miss Sutton came down." Summer Sutton did not deny.
Gina’s face turned white again.
But thinking that she hadn’t mentioned anything critical over the phone, she calmed down.
"Why aren’t you sleeping at night, wandering around like a ghost trying to scare others!" She huffed and pretended to be nonchalant as she headed upstairs.
Just as she reached the corner, Summer Sutton’s mocking voice suddenly came from behind, "If I’m sitting here at night to scare people, then what does that make Second Young Miss Sutton, wandering out two nights in a row?"
Gina’s back suddenly stiffened, her mind exploding.
Two nights in a row...
Was she there last night too?
How much did she hear?
Summer Sutton silently observed her reaction and slowly walked up to her.
"What are you nervous about? Afraid of being caught with a secret you can’t speak of?" Step by step, Summer pressed on.
Gina stiffly looked at her, her face pale without a single hint of blood.
However, her mouth remained stubborn, "I don’t know what you’re talking about. What secret could I have?"
She took a step, wanting to continue on her way.
Suddenly, from behind, Summer Sutton blurted out a question, "Who was that man the past couple of nights?"
Gina’s back stiffened once more.
"Which night are you referring to?" Summer took another step forward, continuing to press.
Knowing that Gina Sutton would never tell her the truth, Summer didn’t expect someone who habitually lied to speak honestly.
Confronting her directly, Summer merely wanted to verify her suspicions based on Gina’s reaction.
Gina felt cold all over, her thoughts passively pulled back to the events on the boat that night.
The night that endlessly haunted her in nightmares and panic.
That night that happened to her was an indelible brand, the scar she least wanted anyone to mention...
