Chapter 198: Story time pt 1

***AUTHOR’S NOTE: Sorry I haven’t been updating. I’ve been in the hospital. I have chronic kidney disease and it’s been hard to write between meds and doctors and nurses. Add me on discord and message me, it’s my pen name @devonany and I will send you a sneak peak of the new book coming in the new year to make up for all the unreliable and delayed updates***

"Will you open it and translate it?" Jeremy asked, he tried to hide his anxiety, he was nervous the Leviathan would make things more difficult for them.

"I can read it to you, but I cannot put transfer it. The spell will not allow me to rewrite this book anywhere in any language. It’s forbidden." The simple direct answers were much preferred by the brothers. Time was thin, they had to be ready for whatever was coming.

"You will?" Oliver raised his eyebrow in surprise.

"Yes, let’s just say, you finding the loophole, knowledge I do not possess. It is a worthy deal." He sounded so casual and a little too friendly.

"Now it’s my turn." He smiled. "When I read this to you, can you swear to handle the truth with dignity and adjust accordingly?" He looked more to Vlad than anyone else.

They were all surprised, that wasn’t the question they expected.

"Yes." They all answered,

"This book, it just appeared to you somewhere. Where?" He asked.

"My personal library." Jeremy answered.

"Will you take me there?" He asked.

"Yes, if I must." Jeremy grumbled.

"You must." He answered.

"Fine. Is that all your questions?" Jeremy griped.

"No, I’ll save the rest for after I read you a bedtime story." The Leviathan told Jeremy "Now, take me to your library study."

Jeremy didn’t like being bossed around, but at this point he wanted answers to the book, and he’d do just about anything to get them.

The Leviathan, Jeremy, Rosa, Oliver, Lilith, Vlad and King Asher headed to Jeremy’s private library. Outside of Rosa and a few select servants, no one else has ever been in this study.

Everyone looked in awe at Jeremy’s massive collection of herbs, salves and medicines. Books lined the room like wallpaper.

The Leviathan walked in like he owned the place and took a seat at Jeremy’s desk. This made Jeremy’s blood boil, but he let it go. Answers. He wanted answers.

"Alright, children, take a seat. It’s story time." He said with a condescending smile. He looked to Lilith and gave her a sweet genuine smile, "I’m sorry, love."

The Leviathan rubbed his nail the spine and iridescent mist evaporated from the books surface. The room quieted.

The Leviathan began:

"The Goddess Artemis, The God Juniper and the Goddess Apollo came to me and asked of me to write four books translating a series of visions they would give me, this is the third book that translates the third vision. The book of The First War. The year the gods made mortals we found that over time their will was a disease. Our forests were being destroyed, greed devoured our lands and tainted our Terra. They worshipped false gods, believed in false creations. They couldn’t have steered further from the truth of their creation.

"The God of Darkness, Cerberus, he grew wrestles and angry with jealousy, the mortals did not worship him, not the way they did the moon, sky, and earth. They feared death and darkness, even hated it. Cerberus decided to make something of his own. He gave himself a son. He tore a piece of his soul and named it Ezelreth, and he placed his DarkChild in the womb of a mortal woman.

"Ezelreth was born with hair black as night and eyes darker than a raven. His mother gave him the name Lucifer before she died. Blamed for his mother’s death and believed to be a cursed child, everyone he touched would faint and sleep for days, because of this, he was abused and despised. He lived a life of misery. Tainted by devastation. He walked through life like he was teetering on the edge.

"One day, he was caught stealing bread and beaten with in an inch of his life, and then left bleeding and battered to starve. A woman came by to pick his pockets, he had grabbed her wrist and followed an instinct one that was only triggered because he had nearly met with death. He drained the woman of her life energy, leaving nothing but a hollow shell behind. A blood thirsty, hollow, shell. The first of what he would later call The Turned. He realized in this moment he could take the life of those he fed on, and if he fed on their energy he would heal and he developed abilities. The ability to make something out of anything, he had near invincible strength and inhuman speed. He spent years honing these new skills, developing them. He learned he could create monsters, but because their bloodlust could only be controlled when he was close, they became a nuisance, after he stopped draining people dry leaving their soul intact, he realized the life energy is what kept the dead from turning into monsters.

"Over time Ezelreth grew in strength and power. This lead to Cerberus eventually coming forth to claim the life he created.

"Cerberus came to him in a vision and when told of his purpose and that’s when the man, who knew himself as Lucifer, learned his true name, Ezelreth. He felt like he found his place, a reason to live and immediately surrendered to the power of his creator. This opened the gates to the immense power that nearly destroyed the world.

"Ezelreth began his plans, only for the unexpected to happen. He met a woman with pink hair and pink eyes. Where others saw a defeated, broken, and hungry woman. He saw fire in her pink eyes. He saw pain that mirrored his own. He saw a queen.

"Ezelreth fell in love with her at first sight. He had to have her. He introduced himself as Lucifer, the name mortals knew him by, he prayed on her vulnerability. Making her believe he was a mortal.

"He broke down her walls by treating her kinder than life ever had. She too fell in love.

He learned his queen went by the name of Lilith, she was the daughter of a chief and that she was expelled from a place the humans called, Eden. It was the last home of the fae and their descendants. She met, married and loved a man named Adam and they shared a daughter together. But when Lilith could not give Adam a son. Adam then took Eve, her sister, as his wife and cast Lilith out. harbored resentment towards his daughter Valoria, who he had with Lilith.

"When Lilith fell for the man she knew as Lucifer, he made her a deal, and with this revealing his true identity as Ezelreth the King of Darkness. Ezelreth promised her power, revenge and love. Lilith agreed to the deal and married him.

"Thus, becoming the Queen of Darkness, in exchange for her love and loyalty he would gift her immortality and the ability to shift into a dragon. She became as fierce and powerful as the spirit that lived in her and the heartbeat in her chest.

"They made a world of their own together and worshipped Cerberus, the God of Darkness. Through their blood they made the first Night Citizens, also known as Vampires. They lived off the blood of other beings. They were the first of their kind a new species. And a threat to humanity. But the world did not know this yet.

"Together through their love, Lilith and Ezelreth had two children. They became the first purebred vampires. Vladimir and Vincent. Created not just in duty but in love. They were a loving family.

"Ezelreth aimed to destroy the world with Lilith, meeting her did not change his plans, only altered it and delaying it.He still plotted the end of everything they built and so much more.

"In secret he built an army of the same monsters that started it all. Deep in the underground he created a sealed space to hold his twisted monsters.

"When Lilith stumbled on a journal she learned the truth, and she was devasted by the betrayal. It broke her in ways she would never mend. There was no future in his plans.

"Only ruin. She felt like the world they built and the life they shared meant nothing to him.

"Lilith stood in the center of her bed chamber and vowed to hate men for the rest of her life and to never love another. She changed, becoming bitter and unforgiving. She vanished. Without a word. This time she did not leave without her children.

"Ezelreth lost it, and with her absence he put his plan into motion. He would destroy the world for his god, nothing would hold him back."
