Chapter 218: Let the Dog Bite Itself

Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Let the Dog Bite Itself

Jillian Lynch’s body trembled violently.

Instinctively, she looked up at Ashley Shaw.

Ashley Shaw happened to be looking at Jillian Lynch as well.

As their eyes met, Ashley Shaw’s gaze carried a cold pressure, a chill so tangible it felt like the surrounding air had dropped several degrees.

Ashley Shaw noticed the fear and hatred in Jillian Lynch’s eyes.

Her lips curved slightly.

"Taking revenge on the spot?"

Warren Prescott pointed to the right side of the pool.

"That’s the shallow end."

He said this to Ariana Grant.

Ariana Grant couldn’t help but swallow.

Was this suggesting she gets her revenge by dunking Jillian Lynch in the water?

"Maybe... maybe it’s better to let it go..." Ariana Grant chickened out. She tugged on Ashley Wyatt’s arm and said, "Ashley, I can’t do such a thing."

It’s not about being a saint; she just felt that if she did the same, she’d be no different from Jillian Lynch.

"True." Ashley Wyatt nodded, casting a faint glance at Jillian Lynch who was sitting limp on the ground, and said, "A dog bit us, we can’t exactly bite back, can we? Otherwise, we’d be dogs too?"

"Pfft—"

Ariana Grant couldn’t help but laugh, while Jillian Lynch’s face turned as black as the bottom of a pot.

They called her a dog!

But annoyingly, she didn’t dare talk back.

She was afraid that if she retorted, she’d face serious consequences.

Prison was unlikely, but a juvenile detention center... that was much more possible.

At this moment, she felt that this humiliation was worse than if Ariana Grant had just dunked her in the water.

Warren Prescott then said calmly, "If a dog bites you, you don’t have to bite back, but you can make the dog bite itself."

Ashley Shaw and Ariana Grant both looked puzzled.

Make the dog bite itself?

What does that mean?

Warren Prescott simply cast a look at Jillian Lynch.

His gaze carried such an imposing pressure that it visibly made Jillian Lynch tremble.

Ashley Shaw and Ariana Grant didn’t understand, but she got Warren Prescott’s meaning.

It meant making her jump into the pool and take a few sips.

But how could she bear such humiliation?

"No... I won’t..." Jillian Lynch reflexively shook her head in defiance.

"Is that so? Then I’ll have to call Chairman Lynch over, I’m sure he’d be more than willing to lend you a hand."

Jillian Lynch instantly remembered how her dad beat her sister not long ago.

A chill ran down her spine in an instant.

She was almost a hundred percent sure that her dad would be "more than happy" to lend her a hand.

"Will you do it yourself, or should I call your dad?"

"..." Jillian Lynch bit her lip and said nothing.

Taking a few gulps of water was nothing, but this humiliation was harder to endure than choking on water.

Seeing Jillian Lynch’s silence, Warren Prescott no longer gave her the chance to choose. He simply took out his phone and dialed a number.

The person on the other end picked up quickly.

From Jillian Lynch’s angle, she could just make out the contact name on Warren Prescott’s phone: Gavin Lynch.

Her heart tightened, and she crawled forward to grab Warren Prescott’s pant leg, shaking her head vigorously, her eyes full of pleading.

But Warren Prescott had never been a good person, and he always claimed he wasn’t a nice guy.

Compassion was something he didn’t have.

He didn’t care about reputation or morals; in any case, he was probably going to hell eventually, so if Ashley Shaw and Ariana Grant couldn’t do it, he’d do it himself.

Jillian Lynch was now left with two simple choices: jump herself or have Gavin Lynch come and make her jump.

But it seemed Jillian Lynch chose to have Gavin Lynch come and watch her jump.

"Hello?" Warren Prescott held the phone, his face expressionless as he withdrew his foot from Jillian Lynch’s grasp.

Gavin Lynch’s voice came fawningly from the other end of the phone, "Warren, it’s rare for you to call me. Your aunt told me you were having dinner together, but I’m swamped today, so I couldn’t make it. Are you having fun? I heard from Rosalind that you’re swimming at your place today."

Warren Prescott glanced at the shivering Jillian Lynch and the silent Rosalind Lynch and said with a half-smile, "I don’t know about fun, but there’s something that requires you..."

Before Warren Prescott could finish, Jillian Lynch suddenly got up from the ground and ran towards the pool.

She then leaped in, diving straight into the pool.

Warren Prescott raised an eyebrow, saying to Gavin Lynch over the phone, "Never mind, we’re having a great time, you go ahead and handle your business."

With that, he hung up the phone, not caring if Gavin Lynch had more to say.

He put away his phone and looked down at Jillian Lynch in the pool.

"Looks like you’ve made your choice, so don’t let us down. Begin."

Ashley Shaw looked at the scene in amazement, her mind finally catching up.

So Warren Prescott’s "make the dog bite itself" meant this.

He actually made Jillian Lynch jump into the pool and drink the water herself.

Ashley Shaw’s mind wandered to the past life where Jillian Lynch appeared on the television screen wearing the same necklace.

The Jillian Lynch on TV in the past life and the Jillian Lynch now overlapped, making her seriously doubt whether she was suffering from a split personality.

Warren Prescott showed not a shred of pity towards Jillian Lynch.

But in the past life, the two of them clearly...

Had she been mistaken? Did Warren Prescott never actually cheat?

But the past could no longer be verified, the timeline hadn’t reached that point yet.

Jillian Lynch now was still just a student.

Ashley Shaw spaced out for a few seconds, and when she came back to her senses, she saw that Jillian Lynch was no longer floating at the surface but was trying to submerge herself completely.

But it wasn’t long before Jillian Lynch’s body floated back up.

For someone who knew how to swim, intentionally drowning was impossible.

Ashley Shaw was silent for a moment, then said, "That’s enough."

Ariana Grant had been wanting to say that but had been scared by Warren’s intimidating presence, fearful he might force her into the pool to have a few sips too.

Seeing Ashley Shaw say it, she quickly nodded in agreement, "Yes, yes, that’s enough."

Warren Prescott glanced at them and finally spoke, "Alright, come on up."

He hadn’t really meant for Jillian Lynch to drink the water, just that she needed a lesson.

Some people, she just shouldn’t mess with.

Jillian Lynch finally caught her breath, but as she got out of the pool, she felt like dying with the pool water and her tears mixing on her face, making it impossible to tell which were tears and which was water.

Though she hadn’t choked on water like Ariana Grant, the last shred of her dignity had been ripped to shreds.

It would have been better if Ashley Shaw and the others had just pushed her in!

If she’d known it would end like this, known how Warren Prescott would treat her, she wouldn’t have troubled Ariana Grant in the first place.

She was so full of regret!

She wished more than anything that she had never come to the Prescott Family today.

But there’s no medicine for regret in this world, and all she could do was shed tears silently.

"Take your sister and leave."

Rosalind Lynch knew Warren Prescott was speaking to her, and she dared not say a word, pulling Jillian Lynch away.

Mark returned at this moment.

Holding two sets of clean clothes.

"Miss Shaw, Miss Grant, your clothes are wet, please use the changing rooms by the pool to change. These two outfits should fit you well."

"Thank you."

Ashley Shaw thanked him and let Ariana Grant go change first.
