Chapter 216: It’s Beautiful

Chapter 216: 216: It’s Beautiful

Adrian had both hands behind him as he watched them leave through the door.

They arrived at the door, and Eden paused. Eden turned and looked in his direction.

"Don’t forget to let me know when you need my help. I’ll be useful to you," he smiled with a wink as he turned and left with Elvis.

Soon, the two of them were out of sight.

And Adrian casually sighed, "Whatever. Like I’ll need your help."

He muttered as he looked around the room and then said, "At least I kept my word. I repaid you." He turned and walked back in.

---

Elvis was supposed to be with his search team. A team of guards and soldiers who left the palace with him to look for Eden. There were supposed to be horses and men whom he left the palace with.

But he was alone.

He had come alone to get Eden from Adrian’s place. And there was only one horse as soon as the two of them got outside.

"Did you come alone?" Eden asked as they approached the horse. He stared at him, "There’s only one horse?"

"Why? You wanted me to come with an entourage or something?" Elvis asked while adjusting the horse’s reins and seat.

"No. It’s just that..well, I mean the wizard of EL went missing. So I thought that at least the whole Royal Palace would be out looking for me or something. You know? Something like that," Eden said.

"You’re just being delusional. You’re not that important," Elvis muttered.

"I’m not?" Eden folded his arms. "Well, I don’t think so. Because the fact that you came all alone in search of me proves a lot. It proves how important I am. At least to you..." he smiled as he leaned close to Elvis.

Standing on his toes, he stared into his face. "And that’s all that matters. Me being important to you."

Elvis paused. His eyes on Eden’s face that was close to his now. He couldn’t help his eyes from staring at his eyes, his nose, and then his lips.

And he certainly couldn’t help his heart from fluttering.

They stayed like that for a few seconds, staring at each other while the horse fed on the grass beneath them.

"What? Are you sick?" Eden suddenly asked, his hands over Elvis’s forehead. "You haven’t recovered from the sickness?"

Elvis brushed his hands off. "You’re overthinking." Elvis looked away and muttered, "Why the hell would I be worried about you? I was just doing my job by capturing you back."

Eden rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say. But why are you the one to come out when you’re still sick? You need to recover first. That’s what is important."

"I don’t need your pity. So hop on and let’s go. I don’t have much time," he said after he was done getting the horse ready.

"Me?"

"Yes. Now. I don’t have much time left. So hop on," Elvis instructed.

Eden didn’t waste time as well. He got onto the horse, and Elvis also did. Sitting behind him and with both hands holding the reins while also giving an indirect back hug to Eden.

Eden turned to face him, "Don’t you find this position romantic? I mean with the hug and all?"

"If you don’t stop talking, I’ll cut off your tongue for real this time," Elvis said as he pulled the reins, and the horse started moving.

"You’re still as saucy as always. I guess I missed that," Eden smiled while the horse took off.

Soon, they were already heading into the woods.

The ride through the woods was quiet for a while. Surprisingly.

Eden looked through the woods while admiring its serenity. He couldn’t help but admire its aesthetics as they moved.

"Don’t you think it’s beautiful?" he asked while they moved through the woods.

"What?" Elvis asked.

"Just look at it," Eden had his eyes into the woods. Admiring as the branches made patterns through the air while trees are attached to each other in beautiful patterns. "It’s just beautiful. I wonder why I haven’t had time to admire the woods before."

Now Elvis stared at Eden from behind. Staring at his side profile. Watching him as he stared at the scenery before them.

"Is it?" Elvis found himself asking while staring at Eden’s side profile subconsciously. "Is it that beautiful?"

"Mm-hmm. Of course it’s beautiful. Can’t you see? I mean the trees and the sky... It’s pretty..." Eden smiled.

"Maybe..." Elvis said. His eyes still on his side profile. It was a subconscious reply. He couldn’t control where his eyes lingered and what his lips uttered. "Maybe it is...."

He guessed his mind was speaking at that moment.

"We should do more sightseeing some more," Eden said.

Elvis finally broke free from staring at him. He shook his head while looking ahead, "Why do you care so much? As a wizard, shouldn’t you be thinking about what to ruin next?"

For some reason, Eden found it funny. He casually scoffed, "Is that so? I guess every villain has a soft spot sometimes too. Because they’re probably human in some ways. Like me."

Elvis stared at his side profile again. Watching him smile and his eyes lingering into the distance.

And strangely, he couldn’t take his eyes off him anytime soon.

The two of them sat on the horse while moving through the woods. Unaware of the person following them.

Someone, clothed in black, looked at them from a distance through the woods. It was the man sent by the King, King Edward.

He stared at them for a while. Watching as they moved into the distance, while he too withdrew into the bushes.

Following them while looking for a perfect time to strike.

****

THE PALACE.

The King sat down on his throne. Queen Lea was sitting on her throne beside him.

In front of them was a messenger who had brought them some vital report after a long time of investigation.
