Chapter 96: 96: I can’t third-wheel

"No..." Eden shook his head "I’ve prepared for this for awhile now. I can’t let the female lead steal my spotlight. I’m supposed to be the one snatching the new guy today. And not her"

Eden had concluded as he left, catching up with them.

He couldn’t let the female lead gain any ground with any of the male leads.

Because based on his logic, that could potentially mean her creeping into the original script as she was written and making it hard for Eden to survive.

"Hey, wait up" He said as he caught up with them.

He stood behind them as he watched Felix lead the way while holding onto Helen’s hand.

Felix knew of a shortcut. And so he had followed the shortcut which led them out of the hole and to the main part of the woods.

Eden wasn’t too impressed. He already knew his character.

He knew Felix was a free young man who had no particular home. He lived from one place to another, from city to city, settling down wherever he wanted.

He was one that even lived in the woods if the need arose. And Eden could guess he had stayed in this forest for some time now to know his way around.

He was a youthful and rebellious character. A youth who would never wish to be controlled or caged to a place.

He was one who would rather explore. Living from one place to another while exploring his potential as a Mage.

They were soon walking through the normal path of the forest. Eden standing behind them while watching as Felix tried striking conversations with Helen in front while wooing her with all the jokes and sweet words he could tell.

Eden rolled his eyes as he muttered "Childish. I can’t believe we’re the same age. I feel more mature than him" Eden thought.

Eden followed them closely while thinking of how he was to separate them. He needed to have his alone time with Felix if he wanted to bond with him or something.

But at the same time he couldn’t send Helen away too. He would feel terrible leaving someone alone in the woods. Especially someone with no powers or so.

So Eden didn’t know how he would get his alone time with Felix without sending Helen away. He didn’t want to send her away alone.

He wanted Helen to leave the woods and get home safely at least. But that would mean Felix also leaving too to send her back home. And potentially start some romantic sparks with her.

That was something he was against. So he had to find a way to send Helen home safely while also getting his alone time with Felix.

His mind was occupied by the thought. His mind ran through the various plans he could come up with to make it work. But none seemed to be worth trying.

And just then he recalled what had actually happened in the book.

If his memory served him right, then this was possibly the scene where they also met Adrian.

Felix had met Adrain while trying to send Helen home. And Adrian, having already met and liked Helen, had offered to take her home instead.

But Felix refused and insisted on taking her home himself.

And so the two of them had ended up beefing with one another on who was going to take her back.

"That should help..." Eden muttered as he thought about the scene. For once he hoped that a scene from the book would actually come into play.

That way, he could try making Adrain win and let him take Helen away while he gets his alone time with Felix.

That was basically killing two birds with a stone. A perfect plan.

Now all Eden hoped for was to meet Adrian.

And as though God had taken pity on him and his plan, they actually bumped into Adrian on their way.

********

Adrian and two of his maids were approaching when they met Felix and Helen on the way. Eden was standing behind the two.

Adrian’s eyes first met Helen whom he was familiar with. A lady he had actually fallen in love with at first glance.

"Greetings My lady" he said as he looked at Felix whom he didn’t know. And then looked at Helen again "I wonder what you’re doing here in the woods. It’s not safe at all for a lady to be here"

It was obvious that he was already wary of Felix whom he didn’t know. He obviously believed he was dangerous and didn’t approve of Helen being around him

"I got lost in the woods" Helen explained.

"Is that so? You must have had a hard time then" Adrian expressed

"Thanks for your concern My lord" Helen expressed.

Adrian had casually looked at the person standing behind them. Only to see Eden.

He paused, wondering what he was doing there. Wasn’t he supposed to be with the crown prince? He thought.

Eden beamed a smile at him. He was sure that Adrian already saw him as a threat to Helen whom he cared about.

And Eden was sure he wouldn’t want her to be around him. The more reason for him to take her away.

"Since it’s dangerous here, why don’t you come with me. I’ll send you back home safely" Adrain offered.

"There’s no need for that, because I’m already sending her home safely" Felix chipped in, holding onto Helen’s hands firmly.

Adrian paused, staring at their hands that were held together.

"And who are you? I don’t think I know you" Adrian pointed out.

"Who I am doesn’t matter. And I don’t think you need to know me either" Felix explained.

Adrian scoffed "A stranger like you is probably dangerous. I won’t recommend having you by anyone’s side. So why should she go with you? What if you harm her? Then what?" He questioned

"I wouldn’t dare do that to someone I care about. So don’t worry too much and continue your haunting before you lose the game" Felix pointed.

It was clear that he knew who he was. The Grand Marquis.

Adrian paused for a while, staring at him. "You don’t have to worry about me winning or not. Her safety is more important than some completion" He expressed

The two young men glared at each other, their eyes cold.
